Bohle is There

Our focus is on glass - But that's not all!

Glass has been the focus of Bohle's activities

since the founding of the company. But many of

our products also find applications in other

sectors. For example, products from the

vacuum technology

sector are also used in stoneworking,

automobile manufacturing as well as other

industrial enterprises - as standard products or

as customized solutions.

Glass Cutting - Glass BreakingWhat happens when you cut glass?

▪Only when using an appropriate tool, it is guaranteed that the score is broken precisely

at the desired place.

▪By scoring the glass surface, tensions are transmitted into the glass which can then be

broken by bending it in a controlled manner either by hand or with glass breaking pliers

Cutting Technology Today

Technology

Bohle has been developing and producing complete solutions for cutting machines for many years.

In cooperation with customers, cutting wheels for many different applications are produced in the

company-owned Research and Development Centre.

One of the latest developments is the structured cutting wheel with extraordinarily long service life.

Choosing the right cutting angle: Following basic rules apply

The thinner the glass and the more acute the cutting angle,

the lower the required cutting pressure (60 N – 10 N)

The thinner the glass, the finer the grind

The thinner the glass, the more acute (sharp) the cutting angle

should be (135° - 90°)

Vice Versa:

▪ The thicker the glass, the more obtuse (blunt) the cutting angle

aashould be (135° - 165°)

▪ The thicker the glass and the more obtuse the cutting angle,

bbthe higher the required cutting pressure. (60 N – 250 N)

▪ The thicker the glass, the coarser the grind should be

Positive effects when using cutting fluid

The cutting fluid lubricates the cutting wheel at the axle and the sides.

The cutting fluid binds small glass chips and stops them from moving onto the glass surface scratching the same.

The smoother the run of the wheel, the better the quality of the cut.

The cutting fluid penetrates into the smallest micro-fissures and stabilizes the built-up tensions for a longer period of time.

By wetting the cutting wheel with cutting fluid (with machines by continuous flushing), part of the glass dust is bound and flushed away.

Choosing the wheel holder

▪ Plastic wheel holders for float glass cutting online as

well as for cutting tables offline

▪ Low price, colour-coded

▪ Inadequate stability when high cutting pressure is required

▪ Disadvantages:

▪ Axle can move out the holder

▪ Deficient precision

▪ Advantages:

▪ Cost factor, no color code for the cutting angle

▪ Disadvantages:

Choosing the wheel holder▪ Metal holders in the automotive industry, standard cutting

▪ Precise guidance, minimal tolerances, high stability with high

cutting pressures

▪ Dry cutting of coated glass panes or panes with a film

▪ Cutting wheels and axles are exchangeable

▪ Choosing the optimal wheel diameter.

▪ Advantages:
