• A marketing firm in 1994 had an idea• By 1999- distributing 300,000 diapers to 30 agencies• Fiscal Sponsorship From 1996 until 1999 • In 2000 the Community Diaper Bank of Southern

Arizona became a free standing charitable organization, becoming the nation’s first diaper bank.• In 2004 the Diaper Bank in New Haven Connecticut

became the second diaper bank in the country• 2008 the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona began

planning to meet the need for diapers

• State: 3rd highest increase in child population over 10 years.

• Pima County: 1 in 3 babies are born into poverty

• Tucson: 8th largest poor metro area in country; 38% children living in poverty.
