Portable Power Tool Safety
Portable Electric and Cordless Drill
• Be sure the electric drill is disconnected from the power source before installing bits.
• Make sure the bit is sharpened before use.
• Make sure the chuck key has been removed before starting the drill
• Secure all work before drilling.
• Use a center punch or scratch awl to mark a starter hole.
Finishing Sander
• Always disconnect the cord before changing abrasive sheets.
• Do Not touch the bottom of the sander while it is in operation
• Always secure your work before sanding.
• Always wear eye protection.
Random Orbit Sander
• Always disconnect the cord before changing abrasive discs.
• Do Not touch the bottom of the sander while it is in operation.
• Always secure your work before sanding.
• The bottom of this sander rotates in a circular motion. This tool can and will cut into skin with the slightest touch.
Belt Sander
• Always secure the work piece. Never hold the stock with your body!!!
• Do not force the tool or put down pressure on it.
• Before plugging in the tool check to see that the tool is turned off.
Belt Sander (II)
• Hold the tool by the correct handles with both hands and always maintain a firm grip.
• Wear safety glasses.• Never wear loose
clothing around this machine.
Circular Saw
• Always make sure the switch is off before plugging in the tool.
• Rest the large portion of the base on the piece of stock that will remain stationary.
• Keep hands and fingers away from rotating parts.
• Always wear safety glasses.
• Never attempt to cut curves.
Portable Jig Saw
• Always make sure the switch is off before plugging the tool in.
• Never change the blades with the machine plugged in.
• Keep hands and fingers away from the blade.
• Never force the blade into the work piece.
• Always wear safety glasses.
Router
• Select the appropriate bit and adjust to proper depth.
• Only use the wrenches designed for the machine to tighten and loosen the collet.
• Always secure the work piece
• Make trial cuts first.• Keep hands away from the
cutter.
Router (II)
• Hold router firmly in both hands.
• Never force the router into the work piece.
• Always wait for the router to come to a complete stop before setting down on its side or the top base.
• Always wear safety glasses!!!
Plate Jointer
• Before plugging the tool in, make sure it is in the off position.
• Always keep the guards in place.
• Keep hands away from the front of the tool and the cutter head
• Do not cut in to knots or hardware.
• Release the switch if the blade binds or stops.
• Always wear safety glasses.
Pneumatic Nailer
• Always disconnect the tool to load fasteners
• Never point this tool at anyone
• Keep all hands away from the fastener ejection area
• Keep all hands away from the direction at which the fastener will enter into the part. The nail can come through and enter ones body.
