All the Women entrepreneurs enthusiastically and fully participated
in the residential training
Women entrepreneurs felt that 7 days residential training is very
much useful for them.
All the Women Entrepreneurs expressed that the sewing machine
care and maintenance training has enabled them to repair and service
by themselves instead of service person from outside making it cost
effective.
Women entrepreneurs enhanced their basic knowledge to technical
skill.
Women entrepreneurs practically learnt the techniques of dress
measurement, cutting pattern and stitching methods.
Women entrepreneurs become tailoring teachers.
USHA program ensured women entrepreneurs a social and
economical development.
60 Socially, Economically backward rural women got opportunity to equip themselves with tailoring course. Technical skill and capacity of women as entrepreneur developed. Poor and needy women owned a free tailoring machine sponsored by USHA. Training Module inspired the trainees in its comprehensiveness. Gained more knowledge and skill in tailoring with short duration training Simple women became a skilled persons, owner of Silai School, teachers, entrepreneur, employer etc., Developed Fraternity and integrating among women from different destination in Puducherry and Villupuram Districts. Self esteem, Self confidents, Dignity, Positive attitude and courage got imbibed in women. Given a new outlook for women as individual, partner and member of the family and living community. Income earning capacity enhanced. 45 Silai School established in Rural villages and 15 will be established sooner. Created good impact among the rural women especially young girls to avail the tailoring training within their locality with easy access & minimum fees.
Name : Mrs. Revathy Age : 40 years Education : 12th Std. Husband Name : Mr. Mayavan Mobile : 82200 74726 Address: # 45, Purushothaman Nayakar St., Thenkaithittu, Muthaliyarpet, Pondicherry-4.
Background: Ms. Revathy was married with Mr. Mayavan and got separated 17 years ago. After separation from her husband, she lived with her parents and her father takes care of entire family. Her father has passed away during the year 2000 and the entire responsibility of the family came to Ms. Revathy. She worked at a tailoring shop and earned on an average of Rs. 3000/- per month to run her family before establishment of Silai School. She was really struggling to mange her family with that income. Now she lives with her mother and takes care of two female children.
Silai School Intervention: Ms. Revathy has participated UIL training conducted during the month of May, 2013 through PMSSS and established a Silai school on June, 2013 at Thengaithittu. Her life got changed after establishment of Silai School. She runs a Silai school at a relative residence (at free of cost) located near to her home because of limited space at her residence. She maintains an album, accounts book with bill book and learners detail at Silai School. She employed two assistants at Silai School to help in job work (both of them were completed Silai course at this Silai School). Ms. Revathy used to go to Mulakulam village to take Silai class on Sundays at one of a learner’s residence. There are five learners attending the class. The income from the Silai School and job work helping her in meeting all household expenses including medical expenses, children educational expenses and saves some amount in a bank. Impact: Ms. Revathy has saved Rs. 39,000/- at bank after establishment of Silai school apart from meeting household expenses and spending money to educate her daughter. Now she educates her younger daughter on her own and she doing B.Tech in a reputed private college. Now Ms. Ravathy is very happy and confident standing on her own & takes care of entire family without any problem. Future Plan:Ms. Revathy has planned to establish a Silai school in a town centre since her present school located in an interior place and difficult for the learners to reach the school. She also planned to buy an additional sewing machine to train the learners better and an over lock machine.

Background: Ms. Subhashini is a 31 years old and married Mr. Pachaiappan. Her husband has been working as a driver in a private concern on work availability basis. His monthly income is not stable. Thus the Silai school teacher really struggled to run the family. She is blessed with two kids. She was a housewife and never came out from her home after marriage for any purpose. This was the first time she came out from her home/village and participated in a 7 days training programme. Initially her husband wasn’t interested to send Ms. Subashini for the training programme and then Ms. Subashini convinced her husband.
Silai School Intervention: Ms. Subashini had participated in UIL training conducted during the month of August, 2013 through PMSSS and established a Silai school in September, 2013 at Sanniyasikuppam. She runs a Silai school by renting a house and paying Rs. 500/- per month as a rent. A leather company called Rane supporting 10 learners fees. The Silai school teacher serviced a sewing machine and earned Rs. 100/- from that way last month. Ms. Subhasini has been maintaining an album of work and accounts register at Silai School. Impact: The income through Silai School and job work helping Silai school teacher in supporting household expenses and saving Rs. 1500/ months in a bank. Ms. Subashini expressed “Since my husband income wasn’t stable and the income through the Silai school helps us a lot”
Future Plan: The Silai school teacher has interested in buying a top model sewing machine which does stitching, over lock, embroidery etc. to train the learners better and get more job work.
