AtthisreunionGeorgeisexcitedtoalsosharehispar?cipa?onatauniqueeventinNovember2019:ELC-PNG’sCelebra?on—100YearsAnniversaryBilongKisimTok,1919-2019—atMisVillageinMadangProvince.

ThiswasasurprisedetourduringGeorge’stravelsinPNGinFall2019.AnofficerfromMisVillagewhowasinamee?ngattheMinistryforEnvironmentlearnedthatGeorgewasflyingtoMadangthenextday.ThemanaskedGeorgeifhewoulddeliverabannerforanELCPNGcelebra?oninhisvillage.Georgelearnedthat“thevillageisfamousinLutherancirclesandamongculturalanthropologistsbecauseitistheplacewherethechurchconfrontedNewGuinea'sfirstcargocult,knownas‘Letub—thecultofsecretwealth’.”GeorgewillsharethestoryofLetub,aviolentconflict,andthesuccessfulinterven?onofmissionariestobringpeacetothevillage.
