Because the background of the image
was so plain, and was the same colour, I
was able to use the ‘Magic Eraser tool’to get ride of the background
Technique One

Firstly I clicked the select button on the tool bar, which then was a drop down
menu in which I picked the ‘Colour Range’ option, this option allows to select the
colours in which you want to delete or edit accurately. After clicking on the
background I closed the colour range window and then back spaced the selected
which got rid of the grey background.

After I removed the main background, there was still some blurry bits that the colourrange did not select. So in order to get rid of the blurry areas, I used the eraser tool. In
order to get rid of the areas accurately, I had to change the sizes of the eraser just to
make sure that I did not get rid of parts of the actual image.

Fire Text
Firstly I made the background of my layer black, and then made sure that my text was white.
Then I right clicked on the text layer, which bought down a drop down layer which then
allowed me to ‘Rasterize Type’ which makes the text layer into an image. After rasterizing the
layer, I duplicated it by dragging the layer down to the bottom. Then i turnt off the layer by
clicking on the eye button

After that, I clicked the ‘Image’ button on the tool bar, and on the drop down menu I
clicked ‘Rotate Canvas’ which then bought down another drop down menu in which I
picked ‘90 ° CW’. I then clicked on the ‘Filter’ button on the tool bar, went down to
‘Stylize’ and then clicked on the option ‘Wind’. I clicked on the ‘Wind’ option 3 times to
make it stand out a bit, then I rotated it back again 90° CCW (counter clockwise).

I then had to merge my background and my text together, so in order to do that I had to
duplicate my background, by dragging it down to the ‘make a new layer’ option, the select
both the text & the copy of the background, right click it and then click on the merge
option. After merging the background and text together, i then went onto the filter option
again, and then chose the blur tool, which then bought down a drop down menu to pick the
kind of blur, and I chose the ‘Gaussian’

I then had to use the ‘selection tool’ to select around my text, but also leave
enough room above my text for my flames. Then I went on the filter button and
then went down to liquify option. To create my flames I changed the size of my
brush to about 19, and then clicked on the places where I wanted my flames an
then dragged it upwards. For bigger flames I just increased the size of the brush,
and then just used the same technique.

After creating my flames I clicked ‘Ok’ and then clicked on the ‘deselect’ button on the
‘select’ option on the tool bar. Then to add some colour to my text went down to the
‘adjustment layer button’ and clicked on the ‘hue and saturation’ option. Then I
clicked the ‘Colourize’ button and then put the saturation all the way to its highest,
then I moved the hue to about 40 then I repeated the step to give it a bit more
texture, but instead I left the ‘Colourize’ unchecked, and put the ‘hue’ option to about
-15.

‘gradient overlay’. Then I clicked on the gradient box, so that I could change the colours, I
want my word to finish of white, so I left the button on the far right to be white, however I
did not want my word to be black I wanted it to have an orange effect, so I double clicked
on the black button which bought out another colour box. After picking my colour, I just
clicked ok on all of the boxes.
