PES Power And Energy Society

INTRODUCTION The IEEE Power & Energy Society is a

worldwide, non-profit association of more than 24,000 individuals engaged in the electric power energy industry. Our mission is to be the leading provider of scientific information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society and the preferred professional development source for our members. PES members are involved in the planning, research, development, construction, installation, and operation of equipment and systems for the safe, reliable, and economic generation, transmission, distribution, measurement, and control of electric energy.

PES Membership• Network with working Engineers (contacts for jobs, career

info, etc). • Become professionally involved with other EE Power

Engineers. • Develop teamwork and leadership skills (provides an edge

in job hunting). • Show potential employers that you are already active in

your career. • FREE first-year PES membership if IEEE member. $13/yr

thereafter. • To start a PES chapter in your SB , you need at least six

student members and one faculty member. • a bimonthly magazine dedicated to disseminating

information on all matters of interest to electric power engineers and other professionals involved in the electric power industry

Typical PES Activities Arranging technical tours and field trips. Bringing in speakers (professional engineers)

from industry. Fund raising to support PES group activities. Social Events (cookouts, sports, parties).

PRESENT SCENARIO OF PES IN JMI

PES conducted workshops ,technical lectures and industrial visits

Visits includes to companies like MARUTI UDYOG & NTPC.

Workshops on Autonomous robotics was conducted

Technical lectures by industry professionals was also undertaken

Future Vision OF PES-JMI

To run membership drives so as to get more student members in PES

Like WIE week we are planning to have a similar concept of PES week

We can conduct competitions so that more students get involved with PES

Lectures relating to present advancements in power industry.

GLOBAL INTEGRATED NETWORK OF IEEE STUDENTS

GINI

GINI ObjectivesStay Connected: Networking students in R10

Add value to IEEE membership.

Help in sustaining the student branches

Help in grooming new Student branches

Help in grooming leaders for the next generation of IEEE and its activities.

Help in retaining or converting a high percentage of student members to IEEE members from Region 10.

PES & GINI

Present Problems With PES In DELHI section

In the recent scenario, where the affinity

group (PES) is not properly integrated with their student branches , the existence of this SPECIAL INTEREST Group specially in DELHI section of IEEE SB’s is of major concern.

What we propose

Using the platform given by GINI today we can improve the conditions of these special interest groups(PES).

How PES gets benefited from GINI

• Students having common interest will get a platform to interact

• Share information, ideas and discuss about their problems

• Combined industrial visits, seminars and lectures

• Promote PES in SB’s where they are either dormant or absent

• Technical project collaboration • Interaction with industrial giants

Expected Benefits

All our endeavors to promote and accelerate the GROWTH of PES in DELHI section and further in R-10 region will bring in more students sharing a common interest.

Increase in IEEE membershipMore interaction among students.
