A sample of cases that are related to

the focus area A sample of cases to examine any

variables or similarities

Cases chosen in consultation with CDSS

Use SafeMeasures and/or UC Berkeley Data Reports

Study the methodology Probation: Use the methodology to

match cases to the criteria for the selected outcome measure

CDSS can assist the county with using Safe Measures for pulling cases.

The County can request additional CRC assistance through their CDSS consultant

Safe Measures can be made accessible to counties during the PQCR that do not subscribe to this tool

Planning, implementation and wrap up phases.

When using a case review tool, be sure to incorporate the following:MethodologyDemographics of the CountyOutcomes (Achieved vs. Not Achieved)

Things to consider for your sample:Number of teams reviewing casesSample should be representative of county’s population and/or demographicsSW/PO should be knowledgeable about the caseOne SW/PO per caseIdentify back-up cases

As early as possible (After the Literature Review, but before the development of the interview tool)Recommended time frame: 2 months before PQCR, 1 month at the latest
