A. N. M

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:• The minimum age for admission shall be 17

years.• The maximum age for admission shall be 35

years.• The minimum educational requirements shall

be 10 + 2 in Arts passing out from recognized Board.

• Student shall be medically fit.

COMPETENCIES• Appreciate the concept of holistic health.• Identify health problems/needs and

resources in the community and mobilize social support for active participation of the community in health care activities.

• Provide preventive, promotive, restorative and emergency health care to individuals and community as required.

• Provide treatment of minor ailments.

COMPETENCIES• Provide skilled midwifery services to all mothers

in the community and refer mothers at risk to hospitals.

• Provide skilled care to all neonates in community and refer neonates at risk to the appropriate levels.

• Render skilled child care services at home, clinic and school.

• Guide/Train birth attendants, Anganwadi workers (AWW), other community health activists and volunteers.

G. N. M.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:• Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be

17 and 35 years. • Minimum education:10+2 class passed preferably

Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks or 10+2 in Arts ,passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.

• Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council.

• Student shall be medically fit.

COMPETENCIES– Demonstrate competency in providing health

care to individual, sick or well.– Assess the nursing need of clients from birth to

death.– Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet

nursing needs.– Provide effective nursing care for maintaining

best possible level of health in all aspects.– Promote self care in people under their care.– Apply problem solving techniques in nursing

practice.– Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care

COMPETENCIES• Mobilise community resources and their

involvement in working with the communities.• Demonstrate use of ethical values in their

personal and professional life.• Demonstrate interest in activities of professional

organization.• Recognize the need for continuing education for

professional development.• Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and

giving nursing care to them.• Assist in research activities.

B. Sc. (N)ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:• The minimum age for admission shall be 17

years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.

• Minimum education: 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.

• Student shall be medically fit.

COMPETENCIES• Apply knowledge from physical, biological,

and behavioural sciences, medicine including alternative systems.

• Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.

• Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.

COMPETENCIES

• Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.

• Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

• Demonstrate awareness, interest and contribute towards advancement of self and of the profession

COMPETENCIES

• Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.

• Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/ community health settings.

• Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.

Post Basic B. Sc. (N)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:• Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior

Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose.

• Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council.

• Candidates shall be medically fit.

COMPETENCIES• Demonstrate skills in communication and

interpersonal relationship.• Demonstrate leadership qualities and

decision-making abilities in various situations.

• Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in community health settings.

• Demonstrate managerial skills in community health settings.

COMPETENCIES

• Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.

• Participate in research activities and utilize research findings in improving nursing practice.

• Recognize the need for continued learning for their personal and professional development.

M. Sc. (N)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:• The candidate should be a Registered Nurse

and Registered midwife of equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.

• The Minimum education requirements shall be the passing of: B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

M. Sc. (N)• The candidate should have undergone in

B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

• Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

• Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

COMPETENCIES• Practice as a nurse specialist.• Demonstrate leadership qualities and function

effectively as nurse educator and manager.• Demonstrate skill in conducting nursing

research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health related research.

• Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in nursing practice and in the health care delivery system.

• Establish collaborative relationship with members of other disciplines

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMME IN NURSING

• In 1980 RAK college of nursing started an MPhil programme as a regular and part time course.

• Duration of the full term M.Phil course will be one year and part time course will be two year.

• The objectives of M.Phil degree course in nursing are:– to strengthen the research foundations of nurses for

encouraging research attitudes and problem solving capacities

– to provide basic training required for research in undertaking doctoral work

Ph. D Nursing• National Consortium for Ph.D. has been

constituted by Indian Nursing Council to promote research activities, in various fields of Nursing.

• 6 study centres has been recognized by National Consortium for Ph.D. in Nursing:

NURSE PRACTITIONER IN MIDWIFERY

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 1. Be a registered nurse and registered

midwife (R.N & R.M) 2. Possess a minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse.3. Nurses from other countries must obtain an equivalence certificate from INC before admission.4. Be physically fit.

COMPETENCIES• Practice midwifery in accordance with the

practice Standards for the nurse practitioner in midwifery and newborn care.

• Demonstrate commitment to the code of Ethics for the nurse Practitioner in midwifery.

• Communicate effectively and foster family relationships actively.

• Organize and demonstrate skills in management of maternal and newborn care.

COMPETENCIES• Assume professional responsibility and

accountability for professional decisions and actions.

• Practice midwifery and neonatal care in collaboration with other relevant health care providers.

• Provide evidence of nurturing the personal and professional self.

• Conduct research in maternal and newborn care.• Teach and supervise nurses and allied health

workers.
