PRAYER OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most
Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I
desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this
moment receive You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were
already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never
permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”
3 P.M. DAILY PRAYER
* The prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary * “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have
recourse to thee.”
* The prayer of the Divine Mercy * “Jesus, I trust in you.”
OLA CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic
downturn, the parish Capital Campaign will be put on
hold for one year.
Please postpone your pledge payments if it causes you
financial strain. We thank you for your past support.
Our parishioners have contributed over $100,000. We
have replaced the church heating system in the amount
of $60,800, and replaced the roof for $48,350. We are
still hoping to replace the basement windows and
upgrade the ventilation system when our Capital
Campaign resumes.
PARISH BUDGET REDUCTION
Bishop Bellisario has directed all parishes to reduce next
year’s budget by twenty-five percent. Fr. Michael and
the parish Finance Council recently met and cut
approximately $50,000 from a preliminary budget
effective July 1.
All programs and projects will see drastic cuts as well as
some personnel positions. To quote the Bishop,
“parishes are to operate in as lean a fashion as is
reasonable under the current circumstances.”
LAST WEEK’S OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Offertory collection from our parishioners and visitors
totaled $1,897.55.
Please keep the family and friends, as well as those who went
before us in eternal life in your thoughts & prayers. In this
month we remember the passing of:
Carl Seaman
Mike Seaman
Maria Lee Thibodeau
Vince O’Reilly
Danny Little
Jason Garcia

ONE BREAD ONE BODY 2020
When you pledge your support for the 2020 One Bread, One
Body Annual Catholic Appeal, you help make possible
diocesan-wide ministries that offer opportunities for ongoing
conversation and lifelong faith formation.
Please prayerfully consider making a gift to this year’s Annual
Catholic Appeal.
Your participation as an active steward of these vital ministries
matters more than the amount of your gift. We are united in
this effort – join the mission.
Dear brothers and sister, Greetings.
It’s been a while since I met with you after Mass before COVID 19 Pandemic. I
miss you all and I miss coffee, doughnuts, and chatting together with you after
Mass. But I’m grateful that I could meet you through phone calls, in my prayer,
and my personal Mass.
As you know, last Tuesday evening, governor Mike Dunleavy announced that he
would lift all restrictions on Friday morning, May 22, 2020. Fortunately, it seems
that the effect of coronavirus is slowly but certainly decreasing these days thanks
to God.
However, the Archdiocese of Anchorage Juneau will take it slow. It does so not
because we are against it but wants to approach it carefully. I fully agree with this
direction and believe It’s wise to do so.
I am going to begin weekends Mass with you on May 23, Saturday, at 6:00 pm
and 24, Sunday at 11:00 am, in the parking lot. The Mass will be broadcast live on
FM Radio 88.70 channel. The Church will be closed but opened only for those who
want to do confession and personal prayer by appointment. I’ll do it for two
weeks observing how the situation develops and plan the next step during that
time.
Regarding the weekends Mass, I’d like to urge you to wear masks when you come
to receive Holy Eucharist for the safety of one another.
There’s the detailed instruction for attending Saturday and Sunday Masses on our
home pages. You can find it on our website, Facebook, and my parish app. If
there’s any further direction from the archdiocese, I will let you know as soon as
possible in the same way.
I appreciate your patience and understanding. May the Lord bless you and your
family. All of you are in my prayer.
In Christ
Fr. Michael KO
Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church 225 S. Spruce
Kenai, AK 99611 283-4555
Welcome to Our Lady of the Angels parking lot mass.
Please park as usual in the lot. The second row should pull up to the back-end of the first row
of cars. The third row will make another row leaving space to drive between rows two and
three, etc. Leave plenty of room between the cars to safely open the doors. Please stay in
your car during mass.
Tune your radio to 88.7 FM. Mass will begin at 6:00pm Saturday and 11:00am on Sunday.
Father Michael will be saying mass on the elevated porch area at the north exit of the church.
The normal postures of standing and kneeling will not be required.
Holy Communion will be distributed at the end of the mass inside the main entry of the
church.
You will enter the right-hand main entrance doors, receive hand sanitizer, and Father will be
standing to the left to give you communion in the form of the Precious Body only. You will
then proceed out the door and to your car. The service is completed and you can leave at this
time.
Be sure to practice social distancing (stand 6 feet apart) from non-family members when
standing in line.
Those who wish to receive communion on the tongue are asked to come in at the end of the
line. If you have difficulty coming into the church and wish to receive communion in your car,
please let Yasuko know.
A collection basket for donations will be inside the door as you enter for communion.
It is planned that the parish will conduct parking lot masses for 2 weeks, awaiting further
instructions from the Archbishop.
Father Michael will continue to post daily mass and the rosary on Facebook. The church is not
open to the public yet.
