Internet Safety Aims

-stay safe online-culture-be positive internet citizens

Internet Safety RulesALWAYS- use  first names only- keep personal information private (such as address, phone number, etc)- keep your passwords private (even from friends)- check with an adult before opening emails from unfamiliar sources or communicating with unfamiliar people- use your own password and username (never login as anyone else)- tell your teacher and parents if you receive any messages that are mean or make you feel uncomfortable- remember the 'grandmother' rule.  Only write what you would want your grandmother to read.- make sure your parents and/or teachers know what you're doing online.- use your common sense- act your age!!

Teaching Internet Safety

-Through the teaching of certain applications- Online videos-Online activities and gamesNetsmartDisney- By making displays and presentations for other classes- Making avatars - Usernames- Discussion – Asking the students for their ideas and solutions.

Internet Safety Certification Process

- Complete unit on Internet Safety- Create a username for themselves- Create an avatar for themselves  - Pass Internet Safety Assessment- Parents must sign permission form- Student, Parents and Teacher must sign contract-Student receives certificate

-The breaking of the signed contract will result in a suspension of internet use. Time to be dictated by the indiscretion.
