The Municipal Palm House is a perfect place to relax. The area of 2,000 m2 boasts over 5.600 plants,grouped in four pavilions of usable plants, historical information, and succulents. There you can see date palms, subtropical palms, usable plants as well as aquariums with turtles, reptiles in terrariums or exotic parrots ond canaries. The oldest plants are over 100 years old. The Municipal Palm House building is a modern architectural structure incorporated into the Chopin Park.

The history of the Palm House dates back to 1880 when the first exhibition greenhouses, being a private conservatory, were built. They were made available for public in 1930. Themain Palm House was opened in 1925. The most interesting item was the first heated swimming pool in Silesia, of the volume of 120 m3. An interesting plant was placed inside the pool - Victoria regia. Also a zoo was created with alligators, snakes, tortoises and monkeys. In 1936 two small baboons were placed in thee zoo and an anaconda was brought from Latin America. In 1945 the facility was damaged. It was reopened three years later.
