GROWS
Hello Page County 4-H families,
Many of you know that Debbie resigned as Page County Youth Coordinator
to spend more time with family and friends. Her last day was August
16. We appreciate the 28 years of hard work and dedication that Debbie
brought to growing the Page County 4-H program. As we move ahead we
will have Jane Hayes-Johnk, as our 4-H staff contact. Jane is a Regional
Youth Program Specialist and has been working with Page County for a few
years. She will be available to answer 4-H questions, organize events and
activities, help with the 4-H newsletter and many other 4-H related items.
She will be meeting with Page County staff regularly to help us through the
transition. Jane can be reached at jhjohnk@iastate.edu or by phone at 712-
243-1132. We will begin the process of hiring process for a new CYC and
keep everyone updated as we progress.
Thank you to the wonderful Superintendents and their assistants
who spend so much time and energy to make sure the shows are
successful. Thank you to the Fairboard members who make sure
we have a wonderful place to hold the shows, you all do so much
for us and we appreciate it greatly! To our parents and
volunteers, we cant do it without your hard work and dedication.
To the 4-H leaders, you dedicate so much to the 4-H program
throughout the year, but we know fair is a lot of work for all of you.
To the staff and everyone else who come together
to make the fair a success… THANK YOU for all you do!

We would like to thank everyone for being part of our 100 Years of Extension Celebration. We had so much fun
celebrating with everyone. We brought back the Milk Made competition, we painted and hid 100 rocks, we had
a parade with 4-Hers past and present, the Iowa State History bus stopped by and we were joined at the kick off
BBQ by many of our past royalty like fair queens, rodeo queens, beef queens and poultry queens. We were so
happy the Cy, the ISU mascot and Chad Higgins, senior director for Iowa State University Extension and
Outreach, stopped by to celebrate with the current and former staff and the Extension Council members.
We are looking forward to serving Iowa and Page County for another 100 years!

What is your club planning to do for National 4-H week? We are SUPER EXCITED and have some fun events planned.
Here are some ideas for your club.
1. Wear Green day. Encourage all club members to wear green or a 4-H t-shirt to promote 4-H. on Wednesday.
2. Invite a friend who isn't in 4-H to attend your October meeting with you.
3. Pass out flyers or bookmarks to your friends– these are available for free at the Extension Office. Just let us know
how many you need!
4. Put up banners of posters at your school, a local business, or other location.
5. Share your 4-H story. Tell everyone what you love about 4-H! Is it the fun project you did last year? Is it the
leadership skills you learn? Is it the friendships you make? Whatever it is share your excitement about 4-H with
others all week long!
Join us on Friday October 11th for a parking lot party with food, games, and lots of fun!

4-H Online Re-enrollment
The start of the 4-H year is Sept. 5, which means it is time to re-enroll and start thinking about which project areas you
are interested in for next year. Remember you must re -enroll in 4-H each year to keep active 4-H member status. Do this
now to stay in the loop for upcoming events! Please re-enroll starting September 5. Prior to this date, we are still
finalizing data from last 4-H year and your data will not be saved when we roll into the new 4-H year.
After the 5th, remember to go to ia.4honline.com and log in with your email and password. It is okay to select the “I
forgot my password” option and the program will walk you through the steps of getting a new password. There are also
lots of good help sheets at: https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/4honlineinformation-families-and-leaders. We would
like to have all returning member reenrolled by November 1. If you have any questions about the re-enrollment process
or need assistance, please call the Extension office.
It is very important that when you re-enroll, that you give us an email address where you want all important 4-H
information to go to. If you change emails, simply call the office so that we can get it changed or log into your account
and change it there.
We are going to explore the option of sending the Page County 4-H newsletter via email so want the email address you
use. If you still want to receive the newsletter in the mail that is fine just make sure to check mail copy when re-enrolling.
Please contact the Extension office with your questions.
