Our school in San Juan del Puerto

DIEGO RODRÍGUEZ DE ESTRADA SECONDARY SCHOOL

There are nearly 400 students and 35 teachers in our school.

School starts at 8:30 and finishes at 15.00.

There are students from 11 to 18 years old.

This is the first year you can study baccalaureate (Sixth form). Previously, students had to go to Huelva to continue their post-compulsory Secondary Education.

We are working in a bilingual programme and our 1st year of Compulsory Secondary Education students will have some History and Science lessons in English next year.

THE PLAYGROUND

The break is at half past eleven.

The students go to the playground, play football, basketball and volleyball, have their sandwiches, chat or go to the café.

The break lasts only 30 minutes.

THE COMPUTER ROOM

In the high school, there is a computer room. In it, we practise lots of activities:

We write letters. We prepare a lot of

compositions and works. We create a lots of

presentations in the computers, too.

We learn computer science.

We can't study this subject until 4th year of Secondary Education.

THE LANGUAGE ROOM

The language room is not very big, but it is very nice. In this classroom, we learn English and French. The English classroom is new and has a cork around it.

It has got a blackboard, thirty tables and chairs and a television where we see the videos in English and many other things.

It is next to the café and classrooms of 4th year of Secondary Education. You can see the playground from it. The English classroom is located in the heart of the school.

THE CAFÉ

In the high school, there is a café, too. We go there every day at 11:30 pm, the break time. In it, we drink cola-cao (hot chocolate), coffee... We buy sandwiches too. In the café, the teachers eat their breakfast.

There is also a TV where we watch comedies and cartoons. The cartoons are very boring.

In the café, there a lots of paintings and flowerpots. The waiters are very funny and cheerful.

THE CANTEEN

In our high school there is a canteen. Every day students go there at three o´clock.

There, we usually have for lunch: potatoes, omelette, macaroni, fish and chicken and chips.

Our favourite food is chicken and chips. It is delicious.

We also watch film in this room. At half past four, slow learners

and students with doubts can have extra lessons two days a week. This is a programme called PROA.

SPORT CENTRE

Next to the high school, there is a sport centre where we practice a lots of sports: basketball, football, tennis, rugby, kin-ball and volleyball.

We enjoy playing with our friend.

We have to have a shower after the lesson.

We will have swimming lessons this year.
