An essential tool needed for middle school, high school, and college

Organizational Skills

• It is important because you change classes and have multiple teachers.

• It can prevent any unnecessary zeroes especially when your disorganization makes it difficult to find your work.

Why is organization important?

Organization Disorganization

• Have a separate folder for each class. If possible, get them in different colors and in plastic that way they last and you can easily find the colored folder that corresponds to that particular class.– Ex.) Red – ELA, Green – Math, Blue – Science,

and Yellow – Social Studies

• Having a folder allows you to find your work for that class and can prevent any unnecessary zeroes. Without a folder, your completed homework can get lost in a jumble of papers that are crammed in your backpack.

• Also labeling the inside folder pockets with “Take Home” and “Turn In” is another way to keep organized.

Tip 1: Plastic Color-Coded Folders

Take Home

Turn In

• Use a daily calendar to keep track of important school events (homework and tests) and extracurricular activities.

• Write assignments down as soon as you get them and their deadlines.

Tip 2: Calendar/Planner

• Have a special place for everything and always put your things away.

• Always keep things in the same place so you know where to look for them and where to store them.

Tip 3: Have a Special Place

• By applying all three tips, you are on your way on becoming a master of organization!
