OPEN AIR THEATER

An open to sky built space provided with performing

area and a space for spectators which is suitable for

the activity going on there.

What?

Why?

• Assembly

• Lecture

• Sports

• House drama

• Classical or popular music

• Opera

• Musicals,

• Ballet, Modern or folkloric dance

• Circus

• Any activity where a performing artist communicates with a living audience.

• A comfortable approach and orientation in terms of sun and wind.

• Comfortable seating arrangement.( Chair/Direct)

• Appropriate stage area

• Sound Control. ( outside/ Inside)

• Direct sound path minimum reverberation.

• Proper access within the seating.

• Rain water Drainage provision.

A good O.A.T should have

• Control effectiveness of activity.

• Control long sound reflections

• Control Vision

• Seating comfort

• Slope of seating should not be less than 12°

• Area calculation will be based upon 0.5m² per Spectator.

• Where facial recognition seating should be within 24m range.

• Forestage height should be within 0.6m-1.1m.

• Angle width of theater should not be more than 135°

• An efficiently designed orchestral shell is mandatory, for uniform distribution of average sound level and the shell enables on stage audibility of a performer .

• Sound amplification system should be provided for an audience over 600.
