Sylvester Lambert Papers (1920 – 1942) The collection documents Dr. Lambert’s public health

work conducted in the Pacific Islands for the Rockefeller Foundation and is comprised of reports, writings, negatives, photographs, and lantern slides. Dr. Lambert’s book Yankee Doctor in Paradise published in 1941 documents his experiences in Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. 1,389 nitrate negatives, glass plate negatives, lantern

document the research and material generated from his interest in the Solomon Islands, primarily in the culture, history and language of the Kwaio people.
