Overview• Until recently we hosted many of our programs

locally leading to lost work time when systems were

down, substantial hardware and application costs,

and interrupted service to our patrons during power

outages, We’ve migrated much of our business

processes to the cloud in order to take advantage

of its many benefits.

Electronic Databases• The Problem: We hosted our authentication server

locally which resulted in lack of access to our

remote databases during power outages, both

scheduled and unanticipated.

Outlook Email Server• The Problem: We hosted our own Microsoft Outlook

server to provide email for everyone on staff. Each

time the electricity went out in our building, our

business essentially stopped.

computers for the staff and were facing substantial

blast to all of our members letting them know about

upcoming webinars that we’ll be giving. We

needed a way to maintain a list of our members to

be sure they were still on staff.

Zoho Statistics• The Problem: We keep detailed daily reports on

how our patrons use our services including;

librarian’s time spent on reference questions, patron

electronic resource usage, book loans, eBook loans,

webinar attendance, and document delivery. We

used to keep all of these in an Excel spreadsheet

that only one person could work on at a time.
