Biodiesel

Sanitation and Parks are already national leaders in biodiesel use.

At Parks, the program began with a summer donation of B100

DSNY and Parks use biodiesel now in almost 5,000 units: of every make, size, age, and type. Parks uses B20 exclusively during the warm months.

DSNY uses a mix of B5 and B20. DOT also uses B5 in some applications.

Current city biodiesel use

The Fleet will now expand biodiesel use in two phases: going to B5 year round and citywide first, and then transitioning to greater B20 use during the warm

weather months for public works agencies

NYC is combining investment in hybrid-electric technology with biodiesel use to combine environmental benefits. The City is also transitioning to new

Ford Diesel pickups, specifically designed for B20 use.

Hybrids and biodiesel

The City has already spent well more than $100 million in biodiesel blended fuel.
