8th CMS VATAVARAN: The 8th edition of CMS VATAVARAN was organized successfully earlier this month, from October 09 – 13, 2015 at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi. Close to 5000 participants including school and college students, partners, filmmakers, conservationists, corporate professionals, journalists, natureenthusiasts, amateur filmmakers and representatives of various indigenoustribesofthecountrywerepartofthisfivedayfilmfestivalandforum.Morethan100films(nominated,specialpremierandpanorama)werescreenedfollowedby interactions of the filmmakers, guests and experts with the audiences.Interesting forums on crucial water issues were organized in partnership with organizations such as Arghyam, GIZ, Asia Foundation, to name a few. Bringing together around 30 environment and wildlife journalists from across the country this year were two media workshops conducted by India Water Portal and CMS ENVIS & The Third Pole. Green Haat featured around 22 stalls by self help groups, local communities and NGOs that sold non-timbre products, food items, etc. Wild Foods & other products were also one of the attractions this year which were sold and displayed by tribal farmers and representatives from Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Jharkhand, MP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Odisha. CMS VATAVARAN also presented 22 awards to filmmakers, journalists

(Young Environmental Journalism Awards) and conservationists. Other special programmes that were part of the 8th edition were Curtain Raiser Programme at The American Centre, Global Water Walk for Peace and cultural performances.

CMS VATAVARAN completes its 25th week of film screenings at MoEF&CCCMS VATAVARAN in collaboration with the Media Cell at MoEF&CC have been organising weekly screenings of award winning films at the GangaAuditoriumintheministry.ThesescreeningsareheldeveryFriday.ThefirstscreeningwasheldonApril24,2015.OnOctober16,theweeklyfilmeventcompleted its 25thweek.Morethantwodozenfilmshavebeenscreenedsofar.AllthesefilmswereawardedornominatedinthecompetitiveeditionsofCMS VATAVARAN held from 2009 to 2013.

Film Screenings for nature and wildlife enthusiasts at India Habitat CentreCMS VATAVARAN has also been organizing award winning films at theIndia Habitat Centre since July 2015. These screenings are scheduled twice each month and it is open to all.

The 8th CMS VATAVARAN Award Jury meet was held from August 26-28 at Le Meridien,NewDelhi.Thejurymembersviewed75nominatedfilmstoselectatotalof23awards.TheIndianfilmsjurywasheadedbyMrAmolPalekarwhileMrGirishKasavaralliheadedtheInternationalfilmsjury

A symposium on Vision for Media & Communication in Education in India was organized by CMS Academy on August 7, 2015

A panel discussion on A Decade of RTI - A Long Way to Go and book release on RTI Use and Abuse written by Central Information Commissioner, Prof. Sridhar Acharyulu took place on July 30, 2015 at India International Centre. Hon’ble Mr. Justice J Chelameswar, Judge of Supreme Court of India was the chief guest of the event.
