• Noun modifiers have an important job: to make nouns more expressive. Illustrated by the word "important" in the previous sentence, this type of word comes in various forms — all with a particular manner of altering the nouns attached to them.

Noun modified by adjective

• Form: the

adjective agrees in gender or plurality with the noun

• Linker: the adjective carries the "linker" (-r for feminine nouns, -n for masculine or plural)

The most commonly heard way of modifying a noun by an adjective is as follows:Placement: the adjective precedes the noun

Noun modified by article

• Articles come before the nouns they point out. Examples: a building, the door,  an apple

Noun modified by pronoun

• Possessive Pronouns come before the noun they modify. They tell us who or what the noun belongs to. Examples: my car, your sister, his big mouth, their new house, our decision

Examples AdjectiveExamples: large feet, six copies, soft voice, the black Volvo, an awful odor.
