NORTHIAM NEWSROUND
NEWSLETTER NO.8 FELLOWSHIP TRUST RESPECT COMPASSION 25th October 2019
Many thanks to the Friends of Northiam for the fantastic disco which raised an amazing £97! A special thanks to
Leanna Ross for her Maleficent skills in leading this event and thank you to all the parents who helped make this event
extra spooky on the day!
Many thanks to Moloney and Partners for supporting our Open Day on the 15th November by
putting the boards up all round the village. Their support ensures that everyone in the village
and surrounding areas are aware of the date for our fantastic Open Day. Thank you!
This year we are asking parents for donations so we can hold a cake sale at break time on the Children in
Need day on the 15th November. The stall will be run by Eva, Maddison, Evie and Lottie so please support
the girls and Children in Need. Many thanks.
Anti Bullying week—The school is taking part in Anti bullying Week. This takes place the second
week back after half term. As part of this special week the school will be taking part in ODD SOCK
DAY on the 12th of November. This is when all staff and children wear Odd socks to show its ok
to be different. During the week we will be looking at Bullying in our assemblies and in class help-
ing the children to understand bullying and techniques for overcoming any issues.
Reception places for Sept 2020 Do you have a child starting school in 2020? You can now apply online for your
child’s place in September 2020. The deadline is the 15th of January. Why not come to our open day on the
15th of November and see our Friday Focus Wider Curriculum afternoon in action to see what the school can
offer your child. The open day starts at 1.15 pm looking forward to seeing some new (little) faces!
Yr 6—Secondary Schools Places for Sept 2020 The closing date for secondary schools applications is THURSDAY 31st OCTOBER.
Please ensure your have completed your online submission by the end of the 31st October. We do have a number of parents who
still have not made their choice. If you are having any issues please contact the office as we might be able to help.
LAST FEW WEEKS FOR ALDI STICKERS!! Please add them to our sticker chart outside the sports hall! It’s the last few
weeks and we still have some spaces on our wall. Please keep bringing the stickers in for the school to be in with a
chance to win £20,000!
Water Bottles –The school have purchased every child in the school a water bottle. These will be in class throughout the day and
used during PE or school based activities. The bottles will be washed regularly by the TA’s and each bottle is labelled with every
child’s name. At lunch we have a water cooler where children can help themselves to water. Therefore the children will no
longer need to bring a water bottle from home with them to school.
Chartwells are removing baguettes as an option on ParentPay menu choices from next term. If you child would
like a baguette please contact the office to order one on the morning of the day you would like one. School Trips
and Forest school will not be affected. Please note on the 14th November we are having special menu to cele-
brate bonfire night which will be different from ParentPay, The menu is Sausages with Jacket Wedges and Sticky
Toffee pudding!
Kestrel Gym are starting next term on Thursdays. Please can you ensure all forms and money is returned before the
club begins on the Thursday 7th of November. We do have a few spaces left in this club so please get a form from
the office if you would like your child to take part.
Next term - Please can parents drop the children at the door by the office rather than taking them directly to class. The children
are settled in their classes now and dropping them into the class can make the separation a little bit harder. Many thanks for your
cop-operation and support!
