• Text features help readers preview and understand nonfiction text.

Helps the reader understand when the event happened.

Heading/Title

A heading tells the reader what they are about to read. They are in bold or in different color.

Table of Content

• a list of chapters and the pages on which they start

• An alphabetical listing of names and topics along with page numbers where they are discussed

• It helps the reader to find the information quickly.

Bold text/Bold print

• Bold text/bold print calls attention to new and important words that can be fund in the glossary.

Textbox

• a box that has additional information about a topic that is written about in the text

Photos/Pictures

• visual representations of information being discussed in the text

Caption• Caption is a written description of a picture, photo, or

illustration. It explains what the picture is• Captions are found above, underneath, or beside a

picture or image.
