A Special Presentation
Follow the Cannon:
Clara Barton’s Civil War Letters
Thursday, October 17 1:00 pm
At the Senior Center
Clara Barton Homestead
The play is followed by a question and answer period that encourages discussion
and interaction with the actor. Lynn draws on her extensive knowledge of Barton
and returns to our stage following last year’s presentation of the Ward’s Civil War
Letters. Clara Barton is sponsored through a Paxton Cultural Council grant.
LUNCH option: Potato Bar available at Noon (reserve in advance).
TRAVEL TO HISTORY
Twenty minutes from Paxton is the Clara Barton
Birthplace
Clarissa Harlowe “Clara” Barton was born in a small North Oxford
farmhouse on Christmas day 1821. A timid, bashful child, Clara grew
into a courageous, compassionate leader known the world over for
her work as a Civil War battlefield nurse and founder of the American
National Red Cross. Take Route 56 to Route 12 South. Turn right onto
Clara Barton Road. Turn right onto Ennis Road. Tours by app’t.
Follow the Cannon: Clara Barton's Civil War Letters is
a powerful one-woman play featuring Lynn McKenney
Lydick. Hear Clara's own words describe her trials and
tribulations as she becomes the Angel of the Battlefield.
Clara Barton / Lynn McKenney Lydick
