1 Introduction
Goal of this session:
Provide overview how you can perform migration to
SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA easier, faster, and more reliable
For this, SAP is offering:
1. Automation of migration tasks
2. Predefined tools + methodologies provided with
SAP Rapid Deployment Solutions

1 Introduction Overview of migration paths of SAP NetWeaver BW to SAP HANA
For migration of SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) to
SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA,
migration path options get outlined on next slides:
Option 1:
New installation
Option 2:
In-place migration
Option 3:
Copy, upgrade + migrate
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 7
1 Introduction Migration path option 1: New installation
ALE / RFC
Installation
Optional
Metadata
transport
Benefit:
No risk for production SAP NetWeaver BW system
Clean system without outdated data models
Considerations:
Not suited for replacement of current production system
Requires transport of complete
metadata, complete re-loading of all
business data from production source
systems and re-modeling
No real data comparison possible

1 Introduction Migration path option 3: Copy, upgrade and migrate (two-parallel-systems approach)
Benefit:
No risk for production SAP NetWeaver BW
Only short downtime for production SAP NetWeaver BW
Production SAP NetWeaver BW and SAP NetWeaver BW powered by
SAP HANA can run side-by-side
(enabling real-time comparison of
results and performance)
Considerations:
Requires sophisticated migration

2 Improved migration with automated task lists BW ABAP PCA Initial Copy task list – detailed SAP NetWeaver BW scope
BW ABAP PCA Initial Copy task list covers required activities after system copy, such as:
Clean-up Deletion of obsolete information from original system in target system
For example, clean-up of obsolete RFC destinations, data archiving processes or Secure Store contents
Post-copy configuration Adaption of ABAP basis and SAP NetWeaver BW configuration settings
For example, reset of generation flag for DataStore Object activation programs, conversion of
logical system names (BDLS), handling of delta queue, and handling of connections (see next slide)
Post-processing For example, resume request processing after delta queue cloning and restart of
RDA (Real-time Data Acquisition) daemons and process chains
See appendix for complete list of covered tasks

BW Post-Copy Automation LVM License for migration of SAP NetWeaver BW to SAP HANA
Procedure:
Acquire the LVM license through your local SAP Sales representative
Download following SAP NetWeaver Landscape Virtualization Management components from SAP Service
Marketplace:
– Post-Copy Automation Installer (PCAI_ENT, installer of basis post-copy automation content incl. ABAP task
manager for technical configuration ), if you do not already have ABAP system with corresponding Support Package (SP) levels and did not apply required SAP Notes yet
– SAP NetWeaver Landscape Virtualization Management license installer as (very small) Add-On (PCAI_ENT
100)
– SAP NetWeaver Landscape Virtualization Management license de-installer as (very small) Add-On
(PCAI_ENT 200)
Prepare your systems as described in the documentation with support of BW PCA Configuration Guide, SPs
and SAP Notes
Install the license file with the SAP NetWeaver Landscape Virtualization Management license installer
Perform migration to SAP NetWeaver BW when powered by SAP HANA
De-install the license file with SAP NetWeaver Landscape Virtualization Management license de-installer when migration to HANA has been successfully performed

Easy Implementation
Note Analyzer report with SAP note 1707321
Depending on system role to be selected in the screen and release state of the system, the
needed notes and preconditions of notes will be downloaded (if desired in parallel batch jobs)
Implementable notes will be displayed in implementation order (short cut to snote)
Required manual actions and maximum patch level are displayed
