This week’s concept is smart saving. Smart saving is when someone has a plan for saving money. It is smart to save some of your money instead of spending all of it. Putting money in a bank is a smart way to save.

Sequence• Today you will read about a girl who has saved a lot of money. When you read
about her, it’s important to keep track of the sequence, or order of events because it may help you understand her savings plan. Pay attention to what happens to her money.
• For example, if I read that the girls saves her allowance, I need to pay attention to the first thing she does with her money. Then I need to follow the sequence of events to help me understand what she does after she has saved a large amount of money.
• As you read “Put it the Bank, “ look for actions that help you track the sequence of steps the girl takes to set up a savings plan. Add these actions to your graphic organizer.

she doing with her allowance? Her bank is glass, so you can see the money she has put in it. p. 67-69 Where is the girl in these pictures? This is a different kind of bank than the girl has at home.
What is in the boxes the girl has taken to the bank? Yes, she is putting her savings in the bank. p. 70-71 Notice what the girl is holding. What do you think it tells her? Yes the bank will keep track of
