Your child has tested positive for COVID-19. Your child has had contact with someone who ispositive for COVID-19.Your child has been told to stay out of school by theShelby County Health Department (SCHD), SCS ContactTracing Team, or your child's principal.

If a student tests positive for COVID-19, he/she mustisolate for 10 days from the date of the first symptoms.After 10 days, if the student shows improvement insymptoms and is without fever with no medicationwithin the last 24 hours, he/she can return to school. Thestudent is not required to retest to return to school.The student is not required to provide a clearance froma medical provider or an SCS school-based health centerto return to school.

If students are not permitted to return to the schoolbuilding or when schools are closed, students willparticipate in virtual asynchronous learning(independent study). In some cases, additional academic arrangements maybe necessary.

My child has been exposed to COVID-19. What happens next?

If your child is out of school due to illness, please notify the school. Parents should keep their contact information up-to-date with their schools to ensurethey receive notifications.Monitoring student symptoms, wearing of masks, social distancing when possible,frequent washing of hands, the use of sanitizer, and cleaning protocols will all reducethe chances of COVID-19 passing from one person to another.
