GOAL OF THE STUDY :

To look at the development of Mongolian-owned businesses in the USA;

To see the general trends in their businesses;

RESEARCH QUESTIONS :

What types of businesses are being developed in Mongolian community living in USA?

What is the nature of their businesses? How are their businesses are tied back to Mongolia?

RESEARCH METHOD : Content analysis of advertisements and classifieds in

Mongolian newspapers published in USA and websites for Mongolian community;

Newspaper is a reflection of history; Not many records of previous research on the topic.

NEWSPAPERS & WEBSITES : American Mongols newspaper – 24 issues covering two years: 2002 - 2003; Dayar Mongol newspaper – 126 issues covering years: 2004 - 2007 Dayar Mongol news website: www.dayarmongol.com Orloo website: www.orloo.com; Hamag Mongol website: www.hamagmongol.net Mongol Medee website: www.mongolmedee.net Zamdaan magazine: www.zamdaan.com

DATA COLLECTION :

Data were collected from about 200 business related ads and classifieds from two newspapers;

News content was analyzed in few cases; Data collection: December, 2007-March 2008;
