At the crack of dawn, a sunflower bloomed with a shower of HOPE. It
was a pleasure; the flourishing nightingale of miracle and it was a
celebrated moment for whole the world to co-relate with all the
alternatives; the human race flew into the heaven. Every one
sanctified and honoured, this was an isolation of this blossom of
sunflower and the autography of an era of this blossom was NASA. At

LOCATION:-
The construction of Mithila starts in 2028 in earth’s geosynchronous
orbit. It is the initial stage of Mithila. Then Mithila captures the
asteroid (6178) 1986 DA. The asteroid is taken into the lunar base. It
is mined and the minerals are extracted. We capture 1866 Sisyphus
and 3554 Amun and they are mined and minerals are extracted from
these asteroids. Subsequently Mithila changes it orbit from
geosynchronous orbit of earth to areosynchronous orbit of mars
through Hohmann transfer orbit.
STRUCTURE:
The structure of our Mithila consists of a central cylinder which is
used for agriculture and industries. There are two tori for residence
housing a large population of 15,249. There are four Geo spheres. In
which first sphere is for recreation and tourism. The second sphere is
for docking. The third sphere is for waste management. The final
sphere is for storage. We use shielding Polyethylene, Titanium-
Aluminium alloy, Regolith, Kevlar 49 and ALVEOLUX FR-B-3020 as
shielding materials. These materials give protection from galactic
cosmic rays and other radiations.
LIFE SUPPORT:
Mithila has fully functioned life support system which gives a
pleasant life to the people. We use Aeroponics and Zeoponics for the
production of food. For the creating pseudo-gravity
Magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters are used. We generate electricity
through the High concentrated photovoltaic cells.
HUMAN FACTORS:
Mithila has a democratic government and holds regular elections for
the proper administration. We give good residential facilities for the
people of our settlement.
TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation in as well as out of the settlement is done using
advanced vehicles. For the internal transportation we use maglev
cars. The external transportation is done using specially designed
space craft’s which VASMIR engine. We use maglev cars, Helium-3
and Plasma as propellants.
COMMUNICATION:
The internal communication of our settlement is done using fibre
optics communication. The external transportation is done using
neutrino communication. These communication techniques help us to
maintain an efficient and uninterrupted communication grid.
RECREATION:
Mithila has zero-gravity facilities in the geo sphere like zero gravity
gymnasium, zero gravity swimming pools, galactic football, aqua fun
etc...
WASTE MANAGEMENT:
We recycle the waste released in all sectors. We decompose the
human and animal solid wastes and obtain carbon dioxide and
methane. We collect the space debris and use the debris in making
new satellites and for industrial purposes. The liquid wastes are
recycled and used.
Mithila now evolves as the earth’s second version giving a
pleasant life to people in it.

1.1-NAMING
A shrine of flair, a fascinating site and the legendary place, all concerning
mighty of MITHILA. The Hindu epic Ramayana records a dynastic marriage between prince Rama of
Ayodhya and princess Sita, the daughter of Raja Janaka of MITHILA.
MITHILA is one of the great opera stars of all time.
MITHILA, the birth place of goddess Sita, has developed its own tradition of art
and culture. The name Mithila creates an intense nature with strong feelings
and emotional desires. Consequently, it is determined, to be a region of
arousing the exclusion of responsibilities and activities. Independence and
freedom are of paramount importance to Mithila.
The appreciation for people and desire to be of service in some way could
involve Mithila in charitable or educational endeavours. Mithila in the sense of
humanitarian idealism could motivate people to reach great length to help
others in need. However, Mithila guides a tendency to become possessive and
demanding which could alienate those who are close association with it.
Its preoccupation with the desires and demands of the moment preclude
relaxation and deplete the vitality. Mithila is executed with prayer; it invoked
the blessings of the divinity. In actual fact, it is the origin of Ganga Devi’s
(goddess) indomitable will and talent.
It is one of the first kingdoms of India, where Buddha and Lord Mahavira, the
founders of Buddhism and Jainism, respectively and the scholars of Sanskrit
learning such as Yajnavalkya, Vachaspati, Gautama and Kapil were born.
The Lord Krishna stated his beloved Sathyabhama, this is Mithila. Here in every
house; Saraswathi (goddess of knowledge) dances with pride on the tip of the
tongue of the learned.’
We hope the inhabitants of Mithila to live with a cultural, traditional and
civilized life. We solicit the gracious presence of godliness in our residence. The
Independence for the people in space might be their hope for MITHILA. The
purpose of Mithila is to explore and understanding the properties and
apparent paradoxes to derive the goals of the universe.

1.2-SPACE SETTLEMENT
Somewhere along the path of life, human finds out how to live his own life as
he wishes to live it.......
Human race begins with mother and halts with mother land. A snivel on birth is
ecstatic while a sob on death is a gloomy moment. A bacterium is very petite
and too small to see; on the contrary, besides this it is very harmful. Let’s mull
over the world, it is very huge, however it scores mainstream of advantages.
What is below and above this world?
There is something that is charming, let us explore, experience and expand
this idea and get into a vista of life. What is feasible? Can permanent
communities be built and reside off earth?
A SPACE COLONISATION......
It would be a prospective and enchanting. And the verve in space bears out a
high spiritual life. Many arguments have been made for space colonisation.
Orbital settlements travel endlessly in the space. While the folks in it play,
work, socialize, raise families etc...
Be Ambitious, be at Mithila.
The two most common are survival of human civilization and the biosphere in
case of planetary scale disaster, and vast resources in space for expansion of
human society, mankind would become extinct within thousands of years if we
could not develop a living in space. By developing alternate locations off earth,
humankind can continue out of the way to event of natural and manmade

Space settlement is very essential and important for all of us to steer a better
and joyful life. Currently, owing to few anthropogenic perilous the mankind
ought to have a space settlement. We took our thoughts ahead for sharing our

OVER POPULATION
Over population means an unwanted condition where the amount of people
supposed on the earth exceeds the limit i.e. supporting capacity of the earth.
Over population is one of the main reasons for a space settlement. This over
population leads to over consumption of natural resources.
Attributable to surfeit population there will be heavy production of
food grains. In 2013 the human population was approximately 7
billion.
It was estimated that, by 2025 the human population will increase by
1 billion.
Attributable to surfeit population the pollution, malnutrition, etc. will
occur.
As there is an increase in population, they also require the efficient
food facilities. But the available resources may not satisfy the
upcoming generations. This leads to the food starvation.

Global warming is increase of earth’s average surface temperature due to

important for leading our life.

Noise pollution is caused when high frequency sound waves are released into
environment.
The effects are loss of hearing, headache etc...
SOIL POLLUTION
The release of pollutants like chemicals, fertilizers and others into soil is called
soil pollution.
Due to soil pollution the pH of the soil increases and the fertility of
the soil decrease.
DEPLETION OF RESOURCES
Depletion of resources is one of the major reasons for space settlement.
Depletion of resources is exhaustion of renewable and non- renewable energy
resources. Due to depletion of resources, there will be ecological imbalance.

VAST RESOURCES IN SPACE
We can the vast resources present in space. We can get 24/7 solar energy
which can be used in the generation of electricity. As mentioned our location is
between Mars and Phobos. The atmosphere of mars contains 95% CO2 which
can be used in agriculture sector for plants.
The major ore on mars is magnetite (Fe2O3). By reduction we can get iron (Fe).
Iron can be used in the production of steel.
We know that the space is so large that millions and billions times of human
population on the earth can be accommodated in the space.
As Space holds many secrets, solar energy is infinite and one of the renewable
sources. We can use many resources of space which can be used vastly for a
long period of time like the sun’s power i.e. the solar power that can be used
vastly for generating of electricity. We can also use the raw materials or the
space asteroids for mining and many useful things can be extracted from
those. We can use this process of extraction from the asteroids or meteors
very vastly for long period of time.

We all are experimenting to imagine the vastness of space. Space
Commercialization precisely means the ad for the resources in the space.
Space is not solely including solar system, rather it is vast. We extract minerals,
we mine the celestials required for our survival in space. This is not what
everyone thrives; we will be hectic in exploding the immense sources in future.
Even, the idea of SC will help us in discovering new resources in new places
and utilize and get benefited.
1.4 SPACE DEBRIS
Space debris is the collection of the defunct manmade objects in space like old
satellites, spent rocket stages, and fragments from disintegration erosion, and
collisions-including those caused by space debris.
Mithila will clear all the space debris in the initial stages (geosynchronous
orbit). Roughly the count and the size of the space debris in Low Earth Orbit
are:
100 million pieces of debris smaller than 1 cm.
500 000 objects between 1cm and 10cm in diameter.
More than 21 000 debris bigger than 10cm.
Another 6000 launched satellites (only 800 of them are still working.
A large amount of debris is created by the project West Ford (1963).
Its goal was to create an artificial ionosphere by launching 500,
000,000 copper antennas in orbit.
300 000 debris were created by the explosion of the Pegasus rocket
which was used to launch small cargos in LEO.
200 bags with organic waste thrown away by the astronauts of the
Russian space station ‘Mir’ during the first 10 years of its operation.
SPACE DEBRIS CAPTURE MECHANISM
1. For the capture of long objects, we are going to use “TETHERS”.
The Electro Dynamic Debris Eliminator (EDDE) captures the space junk in a
net the size of house. EDDE life span isn’t dependent on fuel tank. Since, it is
not powered by a liquid fuel, but by a long conducting wire that generates
electricity as it moves through the earth’s magnetic field. It could target a piece
of debris, capture it in a net, deliver it into the settlement, and then turn
around and start over again.
STRENGTHS: On average, it takes ten days to remove an object, so each
EDDE vehicle could remove 36 objects per year. At that rate, within seven
years could remove all 2465 large objects that currently orbit below a 2000 km
altitude. And it is relatively cheap, at $ 5 to $ 10 million per vehicle.
WEAKNESSES: It is not economical for EDDE to go after small objects. In
addition, the electrodynamic wire has broken in the previous tethered
spacecraft. To avoid this problem, EDDE will use a 1.2-inch-wide reinforced
tape. For the capture of small objects, we are going to use Space Debris
Elimination (Spade).
The Space Debris Elimination (Spade) is a system that can fire targeted air
puffs into the paths of unsuspecting space trash, increasing drag and forcing
the junk to de-orbit. The amount of space debris that one device could
eliminate would depend on the density of the junk. The cost is still TBD.
STRENGTHS: The air pulses fall back into atmosphere, so the device leaves
no residue behind and has a minimal impact on the space environment.
WEAKNESSES: May not be strong enough to take down large objects.
DEBRIS COLLECTOR:
This is the debris collectors which collects debris and convert to plasma fuel.
This plasma fuel is used in the functioning of thrusters.
1.5-ASTEROIDS
TYPES OF ASTEROIDS
C-TYPE:
C-type asteroids are the most common, carbonaceous, and consist of clay and
silicate rocks. They exist furthest from Sun, and so have been least altered by
heat, meaning that they are ancient. It is estimated they can contain up to 22%
water. The biggest C-type asteroid is 10 Hygeia.

S-TYPE:
S-type asteroids are also called as siliceous asteroids. They are made up of
stony materials and iron- nickel. They inhabit the inner asteroid belt. The
biggest S-type asteroid is 15 Eunomia.
M-TYPE:
M-type asteroids are also called as metallic asteroids. They are made up of mostly iron-
nickel, and are found in the middle region of the asteroid belt. The biggest M-type asteroid
is 16 Psyche.
ASTEROIDS CAPTURE MECHANISM:
ASTEROID REDIRECT MISSION
For the capture of asteroids Mithila plans to utilize the “ASTEROID REDIRECT
MISSION” (ARM) also known as the “ASTEROID RETRIEVAL AND
UTILIZATION” (ARU). This method is proposed by NASA. In spite of everything,
the early age of provisions and development, the space craft would encounter
with a large near-earth asteroids and with the anchoring grippers of robotic
arms to salvage a part from asteroids which will be captured. This mission
would extract about 6-meter part of the asteroids.
This mechanism would be in such a way that the illustration and
demonstration of the part of a planetary body will be done by the space craft
itself. The boulders will be transported to the mildewed lunar orbit for mining
and this will be further examined by the manned missions and probes.

SPACE CRAFT OVERVIEW:
The space craft will be landed on an asteroid and the holder on the end of the
robotic arms would clutch and secure a part from the apparent surface of a
hazardous asteroids. The holders will dig into the boulder from the surface and
generates a resilient clasp. Ultimately a cohesive drilling machine will be used
to provide an anchoring of the asteroid chunk. Formerly, the boulder is
secured and the legs will drive the initial mount without the use of rams or
thrusters.
PROPULSION:
The space craft propulsions will be done by an unconventional ‘solar electric
propulsions’ (SEP) and electricity will be produced by high efficacy loop
influenced solar panels (50kW).
This ion engine uses about 10 times fewer propellants than the corresponding
chemical rockets. In its course of action, it will be three times the skill of
previous designs and increases the competence by 50%. It uses the Hall-effect
and provides low acceleration; however, it will be able to fire continuously for
several years to thrust a great mass to high velocity. These thrusters trap the
electrons and assist them to ionize the involved xenon gas propellant. The
magnetic field is also capable of generating an electric field that can accelerate
the charged ions and create a sap plume of plasma that strengthens the space
craft to move forward. The space craft will have a dry mass of 5.5 tons, and can
store up to 13 tons of xenon propellant.
Each and every thruster will nigh on 30 to 50 kilowatt power level, and several
thrusters will be combined in case of utilizing increased power of an (SEP). This
engine will be ascendable to 300 kilowatts and further more.
ASTEROID MINING
EXTRACTION USING MOND PROCESS:
All the iron rich asteroids such as nickel and iron will be extracted by the Mind
process. This process involves the passage of carbon monoxide (CO) all across
the asteroid at a certain temperature of 50o to 60o C, which removes the nickel
and iron from this again at higher temperatures, feasibly in a supplementary
printer, where the platinum, and gold, etc. left as a residue. This process helps
Mithila to develop its financial status.

Asteroid (6178) 1986 DA crosses the earth orbit on 7.03267 April 2038. The
diameter of asteroid is 3.15 km. The Asteroid will be the closest to the Earth’s
Orbit at a distance of 0.1980270 A.U. This asteroid is an M-type asteroid. This
asteroid has been chosen for mining because the asteroid is rich in minerals.
This asteroid contains $ 25 trillion worth of minerals in it (theoretical). It has
approximately:
$ 384 billion of gold
$ 4.2 trillion of platinum
$ 269 billion of iron
$ 20 trillion of nickel
1866 SISYPHUS
The asteroid 1866 Sisyphus crosses the earth orbit on 18.69464 November
2058. The asteroid will be closest to the earth orbit at a distance of 0.1532930
A.U. The diameter of this asteroid is 6.86 km. This is an S-type asteroid. This is
the largest Apollo asteroid.
3554 AMUN
The asteroid 3554 Amun crosses the earth’s orbit on 23 March 2061
exactly at 6:30 pm. The asteroid will be the closest to the Earth’s Orbit at
a distance of 0.2515374016697 A.U. This is an M-type asteroid. The
diameter of this asteroid is 2.419 km. This asteroid contains $ 22 trillion
worth of minerals in it (theoretical). It has approximately:
$ 8 trillion worth Platinum
$ 8 trillion worth Iron and Nickel
$ 6 trillion worth Cobalt

1.6 LOCATION
GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT OF EARTH
The Earth Geosynchronous orbit is chosen as the initial location for Mithila.
The reason is we capture four asteroids. The asteroids are (6178) 1986 DA,
3554 AMUN, 887 ALINDA and 1866 SISYPHUS.
HOHMANN TRANSFER ORBITA
This is an orbital manoeuvre that moves a space craft from one circular orbit to
another using two engine impulses. Considering the case of mars, the
settlement will be revolved around the earth in geostationary orbit.
But impulse transfer orbit [which can be performed by low thrust engines]
require more change in velocity and high accuracy of the bursts which require
constant monitoring for the transfer. Then the Thrusters will help slow down
the velocity before it reaches the Areosynchronous orbit.
MARS AEROSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT
Areosynchronous orbit is basically the preferred Orbit for Mithila. Sandwiched
between the orbits of Phobos and Deimos, this orbit is stable and does not get
deflected by the orbit of Deimos or Phobos. It is about 10,750 km away from
Phobos. A small outpost and a small base can be constructed on Phobos &
Deimos to enable the extraction of minerals.
Stability of the orbit would be achieved with minimal thrusting due to
sufficient distance from Phobos; chances of deflection under the influence of
its gravitation field would be negligible. Moreover, Deimos‟ gravitation pull
due to its low mass and small radius would not be of much influence. Due to its
lesser distance from Mars, easy extraction would be possible.

1.7 ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES FOR CONSTRUCTING A SPACE
SETTLEMENT
ADVANTAGES:
The vast availability of solar energy which can be used for all the
obligatory activities on the space settlement...As the population on the
earth is increasing; there will be more consumption of the resources. A
beloved solution for this problem is a space settlement. Utilization of
vast resources in space is of the main advantage of the space
settlement. On earth, due to natural calamities every year, billions and trillions of
money is being spent. Considerably, in a space settlement no such
natural calamities would occur. As the pollution on the earth is
increasing rapidly, it is certified that in the forthcoming generations, the
earth is zilch.
Space conspicuously, awashed with resources which are inspite of
everything mysterious to the human being.Micro gravity potential is
another major advantage of making space settlement,as differentiated
micro gravity area in the colony or the space settlement would let the
potential utilization of micro gravity circumstances for research
,processing etc.
We can capture many asteroids for the extraction of minerals. We
capture (6178) 1986DA, AMUN 3554, 887 ALINDA and 1866 SISYPHUS
for the extraction of minerals.
By Pyrolysis we can get carbon black and hydrogen. Pyrolysis is done by
heating methane (CH4) in the absence of air at 1000OC.
As the population on the earth is increasing; there will be more
consumption of the resources. A beloved solution for this problem is a
space settlement.
As the pollution on the earth is increasing rapidly, to decrease the
pollution we should build a space settlement.
On earth the surface temperature is increasing due to greenhouse
effect. By constructing a space settlement, we can minimize the surface
temperature of earth.
We recycle the space debris and utilise the materials to construct new
satellites which is economically beneficial.
There is 95% of CO2 in the Martian atmosphere which can be used in the
agricultural torus.
On mars we have iron oxides (Fe2O3, Fe3O4). By the reduction with

The lunar soil is rich in Llmenite (FeTiO3) which can be used in the
production of oxygen, titanium and iron.
Moon is rich in Heium-3 which can be used as the propellants of space

Radiation is a major problem when we construct a space settlement. As sun

layer filters ultra violet rays. We should have a shielding for the settlement.

Radiation is one of the disadvantages of a space settlement. Shielding is the
first and foremost method used to protect from radiation.
We get Hydrogen and carbon black from Pyrolysis process. We get water from
Sabatier process. We get iron oxides from the soil of Mars; iron can be
extracted by the reduction of these oxides.
Due to functioning of industries, the pollutant gases like NO2, N2O5, SO2, SO3
when passed through water gives their respective acids which can be reused in
industries.
We use tethers and SpaDE system for the collection of space debris. We use
ARM for capturing asteroids. We use neutrinos for communication. For the
space shuttles we use Helium-3 as fuel. Since, moon is rich in Helium-3 isotope.

1.8 FEATURES OF OUR MITHILA
Our space mission on the horizon, we are moving towards creating a
space settlement. Our space settlement is safe, modular, spacious and very comfortable
for each and every space settler.
There are two tours for residence of the settlers. One torus is for
industries and waste management. The final torus is for agriculture.
The major sources of entertainment for space settlers are specialized
and well-designed resorts.
In the resorts we have movie theatres, restaurants, virtual games
etc.…

In our space settlement we have clubs, commercial buildings, schools,
multi-specialty hospitals, and research and development labs.
We are going to use the robots as soldiers in military to avoid death of
the space settlers in large amount. Yet the robots will be controlled by
the space settlers only to avoid huge range of destruction.

There are well designed asteroid catchers for catching the asteroids
coming towards the settlement and later break them down into pieces
and get them to the space settlement industrial torus for mining and
extracting minerals from asteroids.
Our space settlement also has three well-designed debris catchers to
capture the space debris.
We use neutrinos for communication. Since, neutrinos can pass through
biotic and abiotic particles without damaging the species. We can get an
uninterrupted communication.
Carbon Nano tube accelerator is used for the production of proton
beam.
The air is filtered using HEPA’s, thermal sterilization, activated carbon,
silver Nano particles, and ionic air purifiers.
In our space settlement we give top priority to waste management, so
that I can recycle and utilize the resources as long as possible.
The organic matter is decomposed to get carbon dioxide and methane.
In our space settlement we prefer recycling methods like using human

CENTRAL HUB:
The central hub comprises of the central cylinder which plays a crucial part in
this mechanism. It is divided into three sections based on the requirements.
Like the upper part of the cylinder encloses the industries, the bottom part
holds the agriculture sector and the central part restrains research and
development sector. It rotates in two different ways i.e. the upper part in
clock-wise direction and the bottom in anti-clock-wise direction. They are
inter-linked by the ball bearings in the centre to attain stability. There will be a
common vertical elevator for the entire space settlement, which provides the
internal transportation. It encompasses all the research and development
sectors, the internal communication as well as the transportation control,
endangered species, and has the supreme control over all the appliances
throughout the settlement.
RESIDENTIAL TORI:
In our MITHILA space settlement, two tori are dedicated for residential sector.
These residential tori are deliberated under the circumstances where it can
house approximately 7000 people, conjugate D with the expanded population
with all the life supporting prerequisites. These tori are compartmentalized
into divisions. Each division has all the commercial buildings along with
hospitals, recreation centres, educational institutes, and so on. Torus is
prominent in indulging the pertinent atmosphere for the inhabitants. Without
this torus, Mithila cannot support the human life.
DOCKING SYSTEM:
There are two docking systems on either side of the spheres attached to the
central cylinder. This facility is extensively used for the entry and exit of the
rockets or spacecraft from the earth and external transportation. The rockets,
probes, satellites, asteroid catchers, debris collectors, spacecraft’s, etc. after
their manufacturing, will be discharged into the endless sweeping of the space
through this docking station. Repairing facility is also feasible during the
collision between other celestial bodies. There will be minimum gravity
accessed in this docking station so as to reduce the fuel consumption with less
difficulty.
RECREATION CENTRE:
Recreation centre is located in the sphere connected near the agricultural
sector. This centre serves as the combined region for recreation as well as a
specific region for micro and zero gravity facilities. With the advancements in
technology, we will provide zero gravity sports where tourists have amusing
experiences. There are amusement parks, hotels and restaurants, dieting
pools, gymnasium, and many more excited faculties provided in this centre for
the tourists.
RECYCLING:
All the recycling processes from the early air we breathe, to the wastes from
the industries will be executed in this sector. The wastes throughout the
settlement will be imported to this centre through the internal transportation
by elevators and recycled and be uniformly dispersed to all the places.

FERRO NICKEL:
This material is used for frames of the cylinder, torus, spokes and dumbbells
and it is alloyed with aluminium. The source of Ferro nickel is moon and earth.
TITANIUM:
It is used for sealing walls and to strengthen the wall of cylinder, torus, spokes
and dumbbells for extra protection. The source of Titanium is moon.
SILICATE RAW MATERIAL:
It is used for Solar panels, electronic chips and to make glass. The source of

It makes torus walls transparent. The source of lead glass is earth.
REGOLITH:
It is used as effective radiation shield. It sources are earth and moon. The layer
consists of 2m thick layer of Regolith and water mixed in equal proportion by

It is an impact resistant outer tile. It source is earth. Kevlar-49 will be in the
form of tiles of dimensions (1m x 1m x2m), which will be manufactured in the
pressurized areas near the Inflatable habitats. It is outer most layers.

It is used for absorbing and dispersing the radiation. It is polyethylene foam
which observes and disperses the radiation by its hydrogen content. Its source
is earth. It is third layer from outside.
X-AERO GEL:
It helps to make the glasses as observatory windows. Its source is earth.
RTV- ADHESIVE:
In between the layers a thin layer of RTV adhesive will be put to keep the
layers intact. Its source is earth.
2.5-CONSTRUCTIONAL SEQUENCE
PHASE 1: CENTRAL CYLINDER
STEP 1
The first of Mithila would involve the construction of central cylinder which is
used for agriculture and industries. It is constructed using Ferro nickel,
titanium and others. The cylinder is coated with polyethylene, and layers of
titanium, steel and lead are used as shielding materials. These materials give
protection from radiation and micro-meteorites.
PHASE 2: AGRICULTURE, INDUSTRIES AND RESEARCH CENTERS
STEP 1
The first step of phase 2 involves the construction of industries and research
centres.
STEP 2
The second step includes the creation of agricultural fields (Nafion are used as
growth medium). Hydroponics (NFT) and Aeroponics are also used for growing
crops.
PHASE 3: SPOKES AND RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES
STEP 1
The initial step of phase 3 includes the attachment of spokes to the central
cylinder. Concurrently the constructions of frames of residential sector are

2.7-DOCKING SYSTEM
Docking or berthing is a key operational technology, which is required for
machines involving the space craft. Assembly in orbit of large units, resupply of
orbital platform and stations, collection and exchanging of orbital crew,
retrievals, repairs, captures and re-joining are the vital elements of a mission of
docking. The major proposed docking systems are:
Mithila, in parallel to this uses a system of docking which is not a complex one.
Mithila’s docking system will be capable of docking and berthing large and
small space craft. This docking system comprises of soft capture mechanism
and structural mating system. We wish it will run in hot redundancy.
This will be manipulated entirely though computers. It will be customarily
enabled by a force-controlled capture mode. It also provides ability for low
impact docking to eliminate the maximum impact energy. This reduces the
contact forces and consequently, eases the required withstanding capacity of
large loads. Its autonomous will be comprised of swaps from fundamental to
surplus failures. It will be provided with a platform of safe mode. Our design of
docking system will comprise a safe situation during docking and working
phases.
The two main docking compartments:
The two docking compartments are specialized in the form of spheres. They
are arranged alternately on the either ends of the settlement. These are
competent enough for all the life possibilities on Mithila. These play a vital role
in furnishing all the prerequisite materials for people living. Our special shape
for this station doesn’t create any crisis because semi dumbbell makes
transportation easy.
USAGE OF ROBOTS:
Robots are specifically designed in Mithila for the docking system. Robots are
used to collect the material from asteroid catcher and send to extracting
centre in the docking system. Robots are mainly capable of Robots are
controlled at the centre of cylinder for the best functioning. The passenger
pro-cats (PPC) are used to transport the luggage.
2.8-LUNAR AND MARTIAN BASES
Lunar base of my settlement is at Shackleton crater. The crater is of 12.9miles
width and 2.6miles depth. The diameter of the crater is about 4miles.
REASONS:
AVAILABILITY OF MINERALS:
This crater is rich in minerals. The most important mineral on moon is Llmenite
also known as Iron-Titanium-Oxide. This mineral can be used in the production
of oxygen. This crater also has water in it.
THE MINERALS ON THE SHACKLETON CRATER:
Silicon, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Anorthite, Silicates, Olivine,
Aluminium Trioxide, Titanium Dioxide, Silicon Dioxide, Chromium (III)
Oxide etc.
FUEL EXTRACTION:
Helium-3 and Deuterium are found under the surface of moon. These fuels can
be used in space ships and the minerals can be imported to the settlement.
MARTIAN BASE
Martian base is the most important base for the extraction of resources. The
base provides around 70% of the materials which are used in the construction
of Mithila. Biomes are constructed on the Martian base.
The location of my Martian base is between Victoria crater and Endeavour
crater which lie in the Meridian Planum region of Mars.
REASONS:
AVAILABILITY OF SOLAR ENERGY: The reason why we choose these
craters is the availability of solar energy since they are near to the equator.
MINERALS:
Mars has many mineral rocks on it. Few of them are Adirondack, Barnacle Bill,
and Goulburn etc. These are rich in feldspar, pyroxenes and olivine. These
craters may be a tourism spot for the settlers. This helps in my revenue
system.
MINERALS ON THESE CRATERS:
Magnesium, Aluminium, Iron, Titanium and Chromium are found on
Victoria crater.
Calcium, Sulphur, Gypsum, Basalt, Hematite and water are found on
Endeavour crater.
Lithium, Cobalt, Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Tungsten and Gold are in small
amounts when compared to earth.
It was proved that hematite is the major ore in mars.

3.1 GRAVITY
Gravity is an important phenomenon necessary to maintain the physical
Universe's mass and space into a structured volume with a particular
architecture. Gravity is responsible for the complexity in the universe. Without
gravity, the universe would be an uncomplicated one, existing without thermal
energy and composed only of equally spaced particles.
If there is no gravity, space adaption syndrome occurs in humans and animals.
But after a long period of time bone density decreases, and some of these
decreases may be permanent. So, to avoid this we need to create the gravity. It
is created for desirable long term space journey, to make mobility easy, to
avoid the adverse long term health effects of weightlessness.
So, gravity plays a chief role in the life existence.
There are few ways in assuring the gravity (electromagnetic fields and many
more). But all of them complicate our colony and causes unnecessary
problems.
This rotation drives any object inside the settlement towards the hull, thereby
creating the appearance of a gravitational pull directed outward. This
continuous rotation will enable us to establish the centrifugal force that
mimics the earth’s gravity. The centrifugal acceleration included in this rotation
will enable the inhabitants to perceive a sensation of gravity due to Newton’s
third law.
This pseudo gravity is momentous in creating an earth like environment in
which the inhabitants can survive and contend with. Mithila is more viable in
accommodating this relevant artificial gravity.

THRUSTERS:
In our Mithila we are going to use Magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters. These
thrusters use the Lorentz force (a force resulting from interaction between a
magnetic field and an electric current) to generate thrust. The electric charge
flowing through the plasma in the presence of a magnetic field causing the
plasma to accelerate due to the generated magnetic force.
3.2 FOOD
Advancement doesn’t mean the robots or the increase in economic status or
the new constructions, but the civilization, an evolution, sophistication,
summon up the agriculture. More than a business, rather than wealth farming
teaches the life and lifestyle. Agriculture is a magic, agriculture in space is an
astonishing sparkle. It is new untainted process for cultivation of plants.

MITHILA NEEDS AGRICULTURE, WHICH LEADS MITHILIANS…
To provide food in the space settlement, it might be a hostile job, because we
require certain nutrients for the cultivation of plants.
Granting of food includes in life support system. Indecorous life support
system may disturb the ecological balance.
Hydroponics is an artificial cultivation process which comprises of 6 types of
techniques. In the midst of all these 6 types, Aeroponics is rather simple and
tranquil. However, Aeroponics is a quite pretty, easy home cultivating and
fundamental to build. Aeroponics is a method of growing plants where roots
will be continuously or discontinuously kept in a saturated environment with
nutrient solution. This method doesn’t prerequisite substrate and entails
growing of plants with their roots which are suspended in deep air. The main
advantage of this method is it has acclaim able aeration.
STATIC SOLUTION CULTURE:
In static solution culture, plants are grown in containers of nutrient solution,
such as glass mason jars, plastic buckets, tubs or tanks. The solution is
generally aerated but may be un-aerated. If un-aerated, the solution level is
kept low enough that enough roots are above the solution so they get
adequate oxygen.
Aeroponics is safe and eco-friendly for producing natural, healthy plants and
crops. The main advantages of Aeroponics are the conservation of water and
energy. Unlike other modules, Aeroponics is a process of growing plants in mist
environment and takes no account of growing medium.
The major assistance of Aeroponics is consuming less water and merely used
to transmit nutrients in contrast with other hydroponics system. This evolves
an idea for harvesting the root crops, in fact these roots acquire maximum
amount of oxygen. This process results in a hasty expansion of plant growth.
Aeroponics fields have sprinklers, misters or foggers to spray the nutrient
solution. As the plant roots are hanging in mid-air, the plant roots are much
more vulnerable to dry out if there is any stoppage in the watering cycle. So,
Aeroponics is provided with moisture controlling equipment in its fields.
Aeroponics is classified into low pressure Aeroponics, high pressure Aeroponics
and ultrasonic. Although, all the three system have their own specialties,
Mithila plans to develop high pressure Aeroponics, which uses less water
comparing to low pressure Aeroponics and ultrasonic. To enhance the usage of
high pressure Aeroponics Mithila uses sprinklers, misters and ultrasonic
hydroponic foggers. These Foggers/misters are very useful in creating mist
environment which is appropriate to Aeroponics.
The Aeroponics is mainly dependent on the size of water droplets. The
droplets sprayed should be very tiny, moreover in Aeroponics how small will
be the droplets sprayed, the more oxygen is produced. How it may be the
Aeroponics system, its operation would be quite easy. The roots in this system
will be hanged in mid-air to get the maximum amount of oxygen. These roots
suspend down inside the growing chamber where they get sprayed with
nutrient solution from mister heads at regular short cycles. The growing
chamber should be light resilient and air tight, as to allow the penetration of
fresh air to generate the fresh air. A well designed Aeroponics system provides
plenty of moisture, fresh oxygen, and nutrients. In high pressure Aeroponics
the foggers help the mist and water to reach the plant roots.
AEROPONICS:
Aeroponics is a process of growing plants in air or mist without soil or an
aggregate medium. In this the nutrient solution is sprayed on the plants roots
and lower stem. This Aeroponics can be used in growing fruits. This reduces
the diseases in plants.
HOW WILL THE FOOD BE PREPARED?
Food will be prepared at a galley fixed at a middeck. The galley is one of the
modular units which consists of a water slot machine and also involves an oven
in it. This water slot machine will be used for rehydrating foods, and this oven
would be a unit for warming the foods to the serving temperatures.
ANIMAL HUSBANDRY:
COWS (JERSEY & HOLSTEIN) AND BUFFALOES (MURRAH):
Cows and buffaloes will stay in the agricultural torus. The jersey cow gives 2 to
5gallons of milk per day. The Holstein cow gives nearly 3gallons of milk per
day. The murrah buffaloes give 8 to 16liters of milk per day.
SHEEP AND GOATS: The Sheep and goats are used for the production of milk
and meat.
POULTRY BIRDS: The poultry birds can be used for the production of eggs
and meat. Their fodder is maize, rice, wheat bran.
The reproduction of these animals is done in traditional way.

STORAGE:
The grains are stored according to their crop type. They are stored in
ventilated, cold and dry areas.
Earth worms are used in making vermi compost which can be used as

We also have artificial pollination. This is done by hand pollination.

WATER PRODUCTION:

The Sabatier reaction involves carbon dioxide and hydrogen to produce
methane and water. Nickel is used as catalyst.

WATER RECYCLING:
STEP 1: The sewage water is sent through bar screens. By passing the water
we remove large objects.
STEP 2: After the water passes through bar screens it enters into a grit
chamber. Here the water flow speed is decreased. Here the sand and gravel
settles at the bottom.
STEP 3: Here the water is settled and the organic matter settles at the bottom
of the bed while the grease, oils float on the top of water.
STEP 4: After the removal of waste the water is sent into aeration basins
where oxygen is mixed with water.
STEP 5: The water is chlorinated. By chlorination many micro-organisms die.
Before water is chlorinated the water should be treated with ultra violet
radiation.
Recycling:
In MITHILA, actually speaking about the collection of sweat, humidity and
urine, which are the main sources, we require an assembling centre and that is
what our waste management. Here starting from humidity to urine i.e .Liquid
and debris to dirty i.e. solid is recycled and managed.
Methods used for recycling water:
Centrifugation: Centrifugation is a process in which the solid waste is being
confiscated.
Heating: Heating of water means carting off the bacteria present in water.
Reverse osmosis: Using high pressure the water lapse through a semi
permeable membrane to get purge of the unwanted wastes.
Bioreactor: A processor that uses microbial organisms to purify the water. The
water is cleaned as a result of the microbes using the contaminants for food

UF: Ultra filtration embraces the liquid to be neither acid nor base but neutral
i.e. ph7.
Aeration: All the microbial bacteria will be cleansed out. Now the water gets
sanitized.
UV: Ultra violet filtration filters all the impurities present in water.
Post processing: A sequence of chemical beds that remove ultimately

Why urine; isn’t it weird?
Yes, it is. But in point of fact, recycling urine will be handy as it is
bacterial free for 15 minutes from excretion. In MITHILA, recycling urine before
15 minutes from excretion makes affordable and would be minimizing the
laden on the filtering system.
Keeping the present in view, without recycling nearly 10,000 to 12,000
pounds of water per crew member would be required to keep the station in
functioning. We are unable to have sufficient water for the people on earth.
Aren’t we? Then how could we think that we can get water from earth and use
in station at outer space?
It is impossible... So, it is a need for us to produce water.
URINE TREATMENT:
The urine is heated immediately after the excretion. Then the water vapour is
condensed through a condenser. Now this condensed water vapour is
converted into the purified water and the left over brine is made to elapse
from a fabric wick, as a result the water left in the brine will mix with the
remaining water. The brine is then departed.
The fabric wick absorbs all the dirt and releases the purified water. Then the
wick emancipates the dirt into the garbage.
The purified water will be sent to a multi filtration grid and then used after the
post processing.
WATER STORAGE:
Water in the residential areas is stored under the porch as in the mode of
reservoirs. These reservoirs are endowed with a furnace to provide sterile

CLEANING THE RESERVOIRS:
For every 4 months the municipality and waste management robots would
take an initiative to spick and span the reservoirs.
3.4 ATMOSPHERE AND CLIMATE
According to NASA's latest research, the oxygen requirement per person would
be around 0.84 Kg/day. MITHILA has population of 15,151 persons who would
require around 12726.84 kg/day of Oxygen.
6500 Kg per day can be produced using either of these methods. The rest of
the oxygen will be produced in the agriculture sector. Oxygen pressure would
be kept at 22.7 Kpa which is the oxygen pressure at sea level.
Residential areas:
In Mithila space settlement we supply oxygen in residential areas as human
needs only oxygen for survival.
As the human release carbon dioxide it will be transmitted to oxygen by plants
by sending the carbon dioxide to agricultural sector. By CCDD membrane
(colorimetric carbon dioxide detector membrane) we collect carbon dioxide
and release the carbon dioxide to agriculture sector. We can identify the
existence of carbon dioxide by change of colour in membrane .and also from
4OH we can get oxygen, water and four electrons. OH is available at steel
industry.
Agricultural areas:
As plants need CO2 we send the carbon dioxide to agricultural sector from
residential sector. This method can be circulated from agricultural sector to
residential sector for oxygen. In this areas only robots work that’s the reason
we will supply oxygen in agricultural sector.

In industrial area the gases released by industries like methane; ammonia
etc..... will be purified by waste management. By elevator we send it to waste
management they purify the gases by membrane gas separation method. In
this method they keep membranes with different size of pores in which the
molecules which are big than the pores are separated. In Mithila there will not
be any impurities of gaseous or non-gaseous. As impurities are sent to waste
management sector they will be purified.
EXTRACTING OXYGEN
Martian atmosphere is 95% carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide will be
captured using 5Ao molecular sieve which would decompose into carbon
monoxide and oxygen using the following methods:
DAVIS METHOD
CO2 can be decomposed using Davis’ method, in which Argon-Carbon Dioxide
mixture would be taken in a shock tube and would be heated to 6527OC. Shock
waves would be passed through the system which would lead to decaying
infrared emissions. Carbon Dioxide would be decomposed into Carbon
Monoxide and Oxygen. Carbon Monoxide is used in Mond’s process for the
extraction of minerals from asteroids.
2CO2 (g) → 2CO (g) + O2 (g)
Ores can also be used in producing oxygen. Because these are basically metal
oxides, the oxygen can be separated from the metal in the production of O2.
Llmenite (FeTiO3) along with raw lunar soil and rutile will be extracted from the
lunar soil; successive heating would separate hydrogen from the lunar soil at
600° C and it would decompose into a mixture of iron and rutile (TiO2) at
900°C. At 1525°C iron will melt and leave behind rutile which will decompose
into titanium and O2 at 1640°C. Every 1000g of Llmenite can produce 317.88g
of oxygen. We can also obtain hydrogen from this process. If Llmenite is
reduced using hydrogen we can obtain iron, titanium oxide and water. When
titanium oxide is heated in absence of air we can obtain titanium and oxygen.

TiO2 → Ti + O2 (IN ABSENCE OF AIR)
Hematite (Fe2O3) -In 2004, “Opportunity” had found some rocks that probably
contain hematite. Later on, when we start sending more rovers to Mars, we
can collect these rocks and use them in the production of oxygen.
Barite (BaSO4), Cassiterite (SnO2), Beryl (Be3Al2 (SiO3)6), and Magnetite (Fe3O4)
can be used in this process since they all contain oxygen.
HYDROGEN EXTRACTION
We get hydrogen by the electrolysis of water and by Pyrolysis we can get
hydrogen.
PYROLYSIS
The decomposition of a compound by heating is called Pyrolysis or thermal
decomposition. When Pyrolysis occurs in alkanes the process is termed as
cracking. This is also called as fragmentation. When alkanes are heated to high
temperature in absence of air the higher alkali molecules break up in to smaller
molecules of lower alkanes, alkenes and hydrogen.
Heating methane in the absence of air at 1000oC gives carbon black and
hydrogen. Carbon black is used in the manufacture of tyres, paints, black
pigments, printing ink, filters etc.

EXTRACTING NITROGEN
NITROGEN EXTRACTION AND HELIUM ISOLATION USING MOLECULAR
SIEVE
Ammonia and Helium would be separated from meteorite dust and Martian
atmosphere using alumino silicate molecular sieve with pore size of 3AO. Both
of them would be later separated from each other using polysulphone amide
membrane.
BIOLOGIC FIXATION:
In the process called nitrogen fixation, some bacteria convert nitrogen to
ammonia (NH3). Some of these bacteria are free-living whereas some of them
form symbiotic associations with plants or other organisms (e.g. termites,
protozoa). Some other fixing bacteria convert ammonia to nitrate, and then
convert nitrate to N2 or other nitrogen gases. Many bacteria and fungi
decompose organic matter, releasing fixed nitrogen for other organisms. Thus,
the presence of nitrogen fixing bacteria is essential for the settlement. By
bringing these bacteria from the earth, we can supply the plants and animals
with nitrogen for metabolic activities, such as photosynthesis.
NITROGEN FROM ORES:
Mars soil contains of many ores. Chondrites can lock up to 27.96% of N2 per
weight (e.g. Sinoite Si2N2O). Osbornite (TiN) consists of 22.63% of N2 per
weight.
Mars atmosphere consists of 2% N2.
AIR FILTRATION:
THERMODYNAMIC STERILISATION (TSS)
In this technique we use ceramic cores with micro capillaries. These are heated
up to 200oC. This kills bacteria, viruses, fungus spore etc.
ULTRAVIOLET GERICIDAL IRRADIATION (UVGI)
UVGI can be used to sterile the air using UV lamps.
HEPA
HEPA filters air to 99.97%and remove particles of size 0.3micrometers. In dusty
areas these HEPAS are used for the purification of air.
ACTIVATED CARBON
Activated carbon adsorbs many volatile chemicals present in air. Activated
carbon cannot remove larger particles.
SILVER NANO PARTICLES
Silver Nano particles with pore size of 3nm are used to separate all organic
non- gaseous impurities from air i.e. dust, dirt, pollens and smoke.
IONIC AIR PURIFIERS
Ionic purifiers ionize air. The particles in air get opposite charges. At this stage
clumps of dust will start falling which will be later cleaned by vacuum suction.
OZONE GENERATORS
These are used to produce ozone gas. Ozone is a strong oxidant gas. Ozone
generators produce 3000mg of ozone per hour. These ozone generators
remove smoke odour after fire damage.

more than $ 14,000,000 each year.
Mithila exploits the solar energy with the help of the CONCENTRATOR PHOTO
VOLTAIC (CPV) MECHANISM.
CPV is a photovoltaic technological device which generates electricity from the
sunlight emitted in space. CPV uses the photovoltaic effect to directly generate
electricity from sunlight. Contrary to conventional photovoltaic systems, it
uses lenses, curved mirrors and solar trackers to focus sunlight onto small, but
highly efficient, multi junction solar cells. This type of systems can be used in
small area only. Diffuse light, which occurs in cloudy and overcast conditions,
cannot be concentrated. To reach their maximum efficiency, CPV systems must
be located in areas that receive plentiful direct sunlight.
For that, Systems using HIGH CONCENTRATOR PHOTOVOLTAIC S (HCPV) is
introduced which possess the highest efficiency of all existing PV technologies,
and a smaller photovoltaic array that reduces the economic conditions as well.
Levelled cost of electricity is in the range of $0.08-$0.15 for 2000 kWh per
square meter or more in high annual direct normal low intensed regions. In
spite of having the cost of multi-junction solar cells roughly 100 times that of
conventional silicon cells of the same area, the small cell area employed makes
the relative costs of cells in each system comparable and the system
economics favour the multi-junction cells.
Multi-junction cell efficiency has now reached 44% in production cells.
ELECTRICITY GENERATION:-
In Mithila we use the following method to generate the electricity
ABSTRACT:
The electricity requirements of the world including India are increasing at
alarming rate and the power demand has been running ahead of supply. It
is also now widely recognized that the fossil fuels and other conventional
resources, presently being used for generation of electrical energy, may not
be either sufficient or suitable to keep pace with ever increasing demand of
the electrical energy of the world. Also generation of electrical power by
coal based steam power plants or nuclear power plants causes’ pollution.
The recent severe energy crisis has forced the world to develop new and
alternative methods of power generation. MAGNETO HYDRO DYNAMIC
(MHD) power generation is a new
unique method of power
generation.
INTRODUCTION:
When an electrical
conductor is moved so as to cut
lines of magnetic induction,
charged particles in the conductor experience a force in a direction mutually
perpendicular to the B field and to the velocity of the conductor. The negative
charges tend to move in one direction, and the positive charges in the opposite
direction. This induced electric field, or motional emf, provides the basis for
converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. In conventional steam
power plants, the heat released by the fuel is converted into rotational
mechanical energy by means of a thermo cycle and the mechanical energy is
then used to drive the electric generator. Thus two stages of energy conversion
are involved in which the heat to mechanical energy conversion has inherently
very low efficiency. Also, the rotating machine has its associated losses and
maintenance problems. In MHD generation, electrical energy is directly
generated from hot combustion gases produced by the combustion of fuel
without moving parts. The conventional electrical machines are basically
electro mechanical converters while an MHD generator is heat engine
operating on a turbine cycle and transforming the internal energy of gas
directly into electrical energy.
HOW AN MHD GENERATOR WORKS???
In an MHD generator, electrically conducting gas at a very high
temperature is passed at high velocity through a strong magnetic field at right
angles to the direction of flow, there by generating electrical energy. The
electrical energy is then collected from stationary electrodes placed on the
opposite sides of the channel. The current so obtained is direct current which
can be converted into ac by an inverter. Ionized gas can be produced by
heating it to a high temperature. On heating of a gas, the outer electrons
escape out from its atoms or molecules. The particles acquire an electric
charge and the gases passes into the state of plasma. However to achieve
thermal ionization of products of combustion of fossil fuels or inert gases
extremely high temperatures are necessary. Air becomes highly ionized at
temperatures of 5, 0000 to 6,0000C. To have a reasonable value of electrical
conductivity of gases at temperatures around 2,000 to 3,000 K by reasonable
ionization, the gases are seeded with additives of easily ionizing materials
(Alkali metals) such as Cesium or Potassium. The induced current is collected
by suitably placed electrodes and simplest system would carry direct current to
the external load.
3.6 THERMAL REJECTION
Now a day we are addressing several dangers related to space colonization,
however we will focus on what is presumably the greatest danger of living in
space; THE RADIATION, an effectual trickle. The verities are apparent and
simple: there’s a lot of radiation in the heavens, and it’s ruinous for the human
health. More precise, it’s lethal.
Hence the question arise, can we protect ourselves against this space
radiation?
Off course, without adequate protection contrary to space radiation, space
colonization will n contrary to space radiation, space colonization will be
ridiculous. Fortunately, we can protect people and our residence in space from
radiation. Radiation generally hurts people by destroying their cells. Anything
above the van helmet belts gets a lot of cosmic radiation. Cosmic rays may
seem unbeatable, but conventional shielding can reduce exposure significantly.

thermostat settings. Expansion valve releases the appropriate amount of

gaseous form. Conversion from liquid to gaseous state due to expansion
causes cooling because energy is absorbed from the surrounding. Air when

It is all about health, the wealth. Yet we have lots of wealth, without health it
is futile. So, to keep our body healthy we need to follow certain precautions.
Not only precautions, but also we need proper medical facilities’ such as
hospitals we should also have awareness about diseases which are on current
track and also know how to cure them. For this proper sophisticated hospitals
are needed.
Mithila has asserted of health and hospital management, under the super
vision of experts, all the new facilities such as emergency pods etc and complex
machines such as implantable heart defibrillator etc. are used. Doctors are
highly qualified and trained.
Each state of Mithila has 10 hospitals and 5 multi-specialty hospital provided
with good emergency facilities. In these multi-specialty hospitals, we include
trauma centres, rehabilitation hospitals, children’s hospitals, geriatric

MITHILA SPACE HOTEL/ZIAN:
Life doesn’t mean staying in a world which just rotate or revolve in space;
however life will be good when we subsist in a good different and good
environment. Making an allowance for a better life, Mithila conceives its
residence in a luxurious and mythical world, the MSH serves as a mini Mithila
prototype enclosing the superfluous amenities which expands the name and

Space offers a variety of dangers to our space settlement. The space
settlement should have a good shielding to get protection from asteroids,
meteorites, radiation.
EXTERNAL PROTECTION
We protect the space settlement externally using a good shielding. The
shielding of our settlement is done using Polyethylene, Titanium-Aluminium
alloy, Reinforced Carbon, Tin, Steel, Lead, Beta and Kapton cloth, Lotus water
ghost, hard water
These give protection from radiation, micro meteorites, asteroids, space
debris.

We also have risks in the settlement. In the docks we have a risk from artificial
radiation.

GEIGER-MUELLER TUBE
“The Geiger Mueller tube is used to detect ionizing radiation. It is a gaseous
ionization detector. The tube has a chamber filled with inert gas at low
pressure (some of the molecules are ionized).”
This is used to detect ionizing radiation.
NAL SCINTILLATION DETECTOR
This is used to detect the solid state radiation, get information about the
radiation. In this we use thallium-activated sodium iodide. The light flashes are
converted into electric pulses by a photoelectric alloy of caesium and
antimony, amplified about a million times by a photomultiplier tube and finally
counted.
This is used to detect the solid state radiation.
TEMEPERATURE SENSOR
As to maintain constant temperature in the settlement we should have
temperature sensors. If the temperature increases or decreases, we should
know it. We use Thermistors and Thermocouples.
PRESSURE SENSOR
We should also maintain constant pressure in the settlement which is 1 atm
(76 cm of Hg). We use barometric pressure sensor.
5.3- TRANSPORTATION
The relocation of people and goods from one place to another place is known
as transportation. Transportation is of two types:

External transportation
INTERNAL TRANSPORTATION:
The relocation of people and goods from one place to another place internally
is described as internal transportation. For internal transport we will use the
following mode of internal transport systems.
We live in a world where satellites and microprocessors guide; but MITHILA
believes its transportation lies with something much simpler: magnets. Yes,
magnets i.e. maglev cars.
THE MAGLEV CARS SKETCH
MAGLEV CARS:
The maglev car works on the electromagnetic force for three different tasks to
suspend, to guide and to propel.
LEVITATION:
The force holding the car aloft is created by the magnetic repulsion between
the electromagnets on the track and the on-board electromagnets in the car.
For that the magnets are needed to be embedded in the track with the same
pole facing as it is of the magnet placed over the car. So, that when these both
are brought in contact, due to the like poles, they repel each other. This
arrangement creates a repulsive force beneath the car's magnets to provide
the levitating force.
PROPULSION:
To picture how a maglev car is propelled forward, think of three bar magnets
lined up on the floor. The magnet in front is pulling with an attracting
(opposite) magnetic pole and the magnet in back is pushing with a repulsing
(similar) magnetic pole. The magnet in the middle moves forward. A maglev's
guide way has a long line of electromagnets. These pull the train from the front
and push it from behind. The electromagnets are powered by controlled
alternating currents, so they can quickly change their pull and push poles, and
thus continually propel the train forward.
GUIDANCE:
Solar panels are mounted on the top of the car which provides power to help
run it, as well as provide lighting and charging stations inside for passengers
including the radio facilities. The solar panels are mounted so they can
automatically rotate in order to maximize solar access. So, when the
destination is reached, this automatically reduces the supply in order to slow

Mithila’s internal transportation will be designed in a PRT system (PUBLIC
RAPID TRANSPORT) where the personal transport is prosecuted and would run
only by these PRTs. These PRTs are capable of carrying two families at a time
to their desired destination with the advanced technology including auto-
navigation, voice activation, radio facilities and the safety sensors. There is a
PRT in each street and 10 PRTs in each torus. The robots will be assigned to
take care of these PRTs.
1. HASTEN:
Hasten cars are used for facilitating the residents to travel over-long distances,
so as to run by the Helium-3 fuel, which is the abundant resource available in
mars. It is the fastest appliance to be utilized in our settlement with maximum
speed 70km/hr. depending upon their capacity; they are capable of
accommodating 6-8 persons in them. Many new encroachments like radio and
navigation facilities are also complexed in these cars.
2. UNICORNS:
The Unicorns in Mithila will function under the provision of carbon neutral fuel,
which neither causes greenhouse effects nor pollution. This also involves in
creating the friendly environment with the pollution controlling systems. We
can produce carbon-neutral fuel in two ways. One way is synthetic fuel such as
methane, gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel or ammonia produces from sustainable
or nuclear energy used to hydrogenate waste carbon dioxide recycled from
power plant flue exhaust gas. Other types are produced from the source of
wind turbines, solar energy, and hydroelectric power plants. It has the
capability of accommodating 8 persons. Maximum speed is 50km/hr. Unicorns
are the specialized and advanced technological automobile to be used in
Mithila.
3. WRACKY’S
Wracky’s are the craziest trucks used for conveying the goods to Mithila. They
sprint by the fuel cells, whose maximum speed would be 50-60km/hr.

CARBON-NEUTRAL FUEL:
Carbon-neutral fuel can be used as an alternative fuel for the internal transport
of Mithila space settlement. Carbon-neutral fuel is an energy fuel or energy
system which doesn’t have any greenhouse gas emission or carbon footprint.
This can be used for the controlling pollution. We can produce carbon-neutral
fuel in two ways. One way is synthetic fuel such as methane, gasoline, diesel
fuel, jet fuel or ammonia produces from sustainable or nuclear energy used to
hydrogenate waste carbon dioxide recycled from power plant flue exhaust gas.
Other types are produced from the source of wind turbines, solar energy, and
hydroelectric power plants. The below modes of transportation are used in our
Mithila space settlement.
STELLAR SEDAN:
Stellar sedan is a solar car which is used in our Mithila space settlement. It has
a family car and has a capacity of 4 to 5 member’s accommodation at one
time. It can be used for the short distance as well as longer distances. The top
speed of this vehicle is 88kmph.
Transport vehicles can also be done through stabilized flames of different
metal powders burning with air. Grinding a powder increases the ratio
between the surface area, and volume. That is why, metals burn rapidly. By
making them into powder, they burn more rapidly and it produces sparks. For
example, iron or aluminium is grounded up and turned into colorants for
fireworks, rocket-fuel powerful enough to lift a payload into orbit, or thermite
that can burn hot enough to cut steel rails. METAL CARS
The metal powders aren't a primary energy source, like petroleum, but a
storage medium for energy sources, such as nuclear or hydroelectric, which
would be used to refine the metals into a pure, and flammable form. The metal
powders would be used for external combustion or heat engines; such as
steam engines. There are so many advantages using metal powders as a fuel.
Such powders would be transportable without the need for special tanks or
cryogenic cooling. They are also much less bulky than hydrogen, and have
higher energy density than batteries. Since they run heat engines, this
technology can be used in vehicles. They are in large enough to run power
plants.
The plus point is the metal powders are recyclable. As they burn, metal
powders create stable, non-toxic solid-oxides that can be collected, refined
back to pure metals, and used again with a minimum of carbon dioxide or
other emissions.
The use of low-cost metallic fuels, like iron powder can be used for the
development of our Mithila space settlement as well as this can be taken as an
alternative for the fuel engine system. If we can demonstrate, for the first
time, an iron-fuelled engine with almost zero CO2 emissions, we believe this
would then cause even more innovation and cost reduction in the near future.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION:
Internal communication in our Mithila space settlement is done through
telephone cables, fibre optics communication and many more. Internal
communication is very important for the people and it also plays a key role in
our life. Internal communication is the relocation of information between two
or more people inside the space settlement.
FIBER OPTICS COMMUNCATION:
In our Mithila space settlement, we use fibre optic communication for internal
communication.
Fibre optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one
place to another place by sending pulsations of light through optic fibres. The
light forms an electromagnetic carrier wave that is modulated to carry
information. Optical fibre is used by many telecommunications companies
transmit the internet network, television signals and telephone signals. The
most usually used optical transmitters are semiconductor devices such as light
emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes. The major difference between light
emitting diodes and laser diodes is that LEDs have incoherent light while lasers
have coherent light. Using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology
which is now commercially available, the bandwidth of a fibre can be divided
into as many as 160 channels to support a combined bit rate in the range of
1.6Tbit/s.
A self-organizing network (SON) is a mechanization of technology designed to
make the planning, configuration, optimization, and healing of mobile radio
networks simpler and faster. This can speed up the mechanism of mobile radio
networks. This mechanism is currently being used by Vodafone Company. We
are using this mechanism for the speed up of mobile radio networks in our
Mithila space settlement.
POWER LINE COMMUNCATION:
Power line communication is a communication procedure that uses electrical
wiring for the transfer of data, and Altering Current (AC) by electrical
transmission. Power line communication can be used in home to interconnect
home computer as well as peripherals, and home entertainment devices that
have Ethernet port. Normally, the home control power line communication can
be operated by modulating carrier wave between 20 to 200 Hz into the
household cabling at the transmitter. This will be useful for communication for
the Mithila space settlement.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION:
TRANSFERRING DATA USING NEUTRINO BEAMS
For transferring data using neutrinos, we use the gravity script: a script that

Neutrinos are weakly interacting particles, but they interact with gravitational
force. For the deflection of neutrinos, we would use ultra-pure water dipped
graphite powder super conductor which exhibits anti-gravity properties. This
anti gravitational force deflects neutrinos in the desired direction.
NEUTRINO DETECTION AND MONOTORING: For the detection of
neutrino, high energy electron field is used. When neutrinos collide with this
field, high energy Cherenkov radiations along with bright light is produced. This
property of neutrinos is utilized for detection. For monitoring, lanthanum
bromide (LaBr3) scintillator with high quality light output and energy resolution

Waste management is the fundamental thing to be implemented in our space
settlement. It is essential to manage space debris near our MITHILA. Waste
supervision is obligatory to recycle the waste from the space settlement.
Presence of waste management is in the semi dumbbell of MSS. We use 90%
robots and 10% humans for the waste management process in the MITHILA space
settlement.
Waste management in MITHILA space settlement can also lead a healthy and better life for the people. Debris in the space settlement can lead to ecological imbalance in the space settlement. So, to overcome this problem waste management should be implemented. Waste management is required to recycle the waste that comes from the space
settlement. To lead a happy and healthy life we should use many techniques to
decrease the wastage, recycle, and reuse it. As water in the outer space is
limited, we have to use the water cautiously. To get the ample amount of purified
water in MITHILA space settlement, there will be a many center for the collection
of all the waste from all parts of the space settlement. From this center the waste
will be transported to recycle them into purified water which will be propelled in
different parts of the MITHILA space settlement through some specific pipes.
Recycled water is used for sanitation, drinking and many other daily purposes.
Water purification process in the waste management, purifies the water we will
get from the sewage pipes and fling the purified water through separate water
pipes to all the parts of the space settlement.
For leading a better life, we require not only water but also other life supporting
factors. Plants in the MITHILA space settlement provides the pleasant air for the
life support of all the living organisms. Air in the space settlement must be
hygiene otherwise the air gets foul. The air that plants provide will not be
sufficient, so we must take an alternative for the sufficient air.
The house hold and industrial wastage can be recycled from the sewage treatments as well as efficient waste management facilities. The waste organic matter can be used as a fertilizer for the growth of the plants. Each dumbbell of
MITHILA space settlement contains discrete waste management system. Some of the waste organic matter can be useful in agricultural sector, while remaining can be dodgy for the agriculture. In that case, the remaining wastage can be used in other sectors. We can also use goat manure in agriculture because goat manure is cheaper than the commercial grade inorganic fertilizer.
The organic waste when decomposed gives carbon dioxide and methane. The
carbon dioxide can be used for Sabatier reaction. In Pyrolysis process, methane
when heated at 1000˚ C gives coke (carbon) and hydrogen.

The waste we get from the space settlement is required to build the houses
naturally and some extent off non-biodegradable substances (i.e. Earth house)
because the materials must keep water out, they are often made of plastics. Earth
house means the construction of house in a natural way and it can be placed onto
natural grown terrain. Earth house is commonly known as earth berm or earth
sheltered home. The earth house concept uses the ground as an insulating
blanket to get protected from heat, humidity, wind and natural scrape. An earth
house is a flexible construction which can be built according to the wishes of the
owners, fulfilling the requirements of every individual and energy conservation.
Around the earth house there will be so many plants to control the temperature
during different seasons. For the growth of plants, we may require so many
techniques like Aeroponics, hydroponics, and many more. The earth house may
be costly, but it is useful. Concrete is another material which is used in great
quantities. More sustainable materials are being tested to replace the cement
within concrete (such as fly ash).
There are some advantages and disadvantages of earth house. First we talk about
advantages of earth house.

Plasma gasification
Plasma gasification is a process which converts organic waste into synthetic
gas, electricity and slag by using plasma. It can be used commercially as
waste management treatment as well as we can generate the electricity in
our Mithila space settlement through this process. The gases which are
released by this process can be used in other activities. A plasma torch
powered by an electric arc is used to ionize the gas and catalyze the organic
matter into synthetic gas and solid waste (slag).

Advantages of Plasma gasification
1. There will be clean destruction of hazardous materials. No harmful
emissions from toxic waste during this process.
2. Production of slag can be used as construction materials as well as in
the production of value added products (metals).
3. Processing of organic waste into synthetic gas which can be used in
electrical energy as well as thermal energy.
Process:
The plasma torch uses inert gas to ionize the gases and catalyze the organic
matter into synthetic gas and solid waste (slag). The electrodes vary from copper
or tungsten to hafnium or zirconium, along with the various other alloys. The
strong electric current passes under high voltage passes between two electrodes
as an electric arc. The torch’s temperature ranges from 2200 to 13,900 0C. The
temperature of the plasma reaction determines the structure of the plasma and
forming gas. This can be optimized to minimum ballast contents, composed of the
byproducts of the oxidation: CO2, H2O, N2 etc. The waste is heated, melted and
vaporized. At this stage the will be dissociation in the molecular bonds and this
leads to be detachment of various constituents of the molecule.
Dissociation of the particle by the means of plasma is known as “plasma
Pyrolysis”.
Biomass feed stocks are the plants and algal used to obtain fuels like
methanol, butanol, biodiesel and many more hydrocarbons. The feedstock for
the Plasma gasification is mostly solid waste, organic waste or even both.
Feedstock may also include biomedical waste, hazmat materials.
Microbial fuel cell: The microbial fuel cell converts the chemical energy into electrical energy by using
catalytic reactions of microorganisms.
This system is used for the treatment of organic waste in the Mithila space
settlement. Microbial fuel cell or biological fuel cell is a bio electrochemical
system that brings out current by using bacteria and impersonating the bacterial
interaction in the nature. Microbial fuel cell systems are of two types, the one
which uses mediator and other is mediator less. The system which uses mediator
uses a chemical that transforms electrons from the bacteria in the cell to the
anode. The other system which is mediator less has the bacteria which have
electrochemically redox proteins such as cytochromes on their outer membrane
can transfer electrons from the bacteria in the cell to the anode. Normally, the
waste is of two types: 1. Organic waste, 2. Inorganic waste. The organic waste
composed of different types of organic compounds. The inorganic waste is
composed of different types of metals and non-metals. Organic waste is also
composed of bacteria, and some microorganisms. We generate electrical energy
from the organic waste by using the microbial fuel cell. After this process, the
gases are released during decomposition or the solid waste can be used to extract
the nitrogen because this will allow regulation of nutrient solution.
The inorganic waste such as plastics can be heated to high temperatures for the
remold of plastics into different shapes through plastic Pyrolysis. Glass is heated
to high temperature i.e., 1400 0C to 1600 0C to remold into different shapes.
Metals or non-metals can be recycled from the scrape and we can reuse in
different sectors.
Thermal Deploymerization
Thermal Depolymerization is technique for the waste treatment to produce crude
oil. Thermal Depolymerization is a Depolymerization process for the treatment of
complex organic substances such as plastics by using hydrous Pyrolysis to obtain
crude oil. This process is used to obtain crude oil for the ointments and some
petroleum products.
Hydrous Pyrolysis is a thermal decomposition process, when the wastage is
heated to high temperature in presence of water. Hydrous Pyrolysis is an
important process in the creation of fossil fuels.
In our Mithila space settlement, we use maximum all of these process for the
treatment of wastage as well as this process may use in other activities.
As well as in our Mithila space settlement we will use 4R principle for the recycle
of plastics and other strong solid materials like metals and non-metals. 4R
principle means reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover.
1. Reduce: We try to minimize the amount of goods or materials as much as
possible. This means that the more we buy different materials the more the waste
is generated.
2. Reuse: We should reuse the material as much as possible to minimize the
amount of materials.
3. Recycle: We will try to recycle the materials from the above processes. This
leads to reuse of the material.
4. Recover: We should try to change the goods of one time used goods with
more durable goods.
In our Mithila space settlement, we have a population of 15249 members. On
an average the human feces excreted per day is 0.1236 kg. So, the total human
feces excreted per day on an average in Mithila space settlement is
1884.7764 kg.
Additionally there are 55 cows which are brought from earth to our space
settlement. On an average the cow dung excreted per day is 29.5 kg. So, the
average cow dung excreted by the cows per day in the Mithila space
settlement is 1622.5 kg. A dairy cow produces 400lit of methane every day. So,
totally the cows produce 22000lit of methane every day in our Mithila space
settlement.
We are bringing 139 sheeps from earth to our space settlement. On an
average, each sheeps excretes 4 pounds i.e., 1.81436948 kg of waste per day.
So, on an average the total number of sheeps excretes 252.19735772 kg of
waste in the Mithila space settlement.
Furthermore, we are fetching 140 goats from earth to our Mithila space
settlement. An adult goat excretes 138 kg of dry manure per year and per day

In addition to this, we are also bringing 50 buffaloes from earth to our Mithila

day is 20.675 kg. So, in Mithila space settlement the total dung produced by
the buffaloes each day is 1033.75 kg.
Therefore, the total organic waste produced each day in the Mithila space

get the area cleaned. In streets we will have robot tap which is electronically
robot cleaner on earth but will be modified so that it communicate or get
information from k5 and k10.
HEALTH ASSOCIATED ROBOTS:
Our healthbots will have two main functions to be followed.
1 Assisting an individual, such as a sufferer of a disease like Multiple
Sclerosis,
2 Helping doctors in giving aid to patients.
In our Mithila we will provide every house with 1 Handy or friend robot which
can not only help elderly or disabled people but also normal residents. These
robots which are used in home automation ARE from simple basic robotic
assistants, such as the HANDY 1, through to semi-autonomous robots, such as
FRIEND which can assist the elderly, disabled and others too with common
tasks.
Humans make the best carers, but where they are unavailable, robots are
gradually being introduced.
But in our Mithila it helps everyone in their daily life activities. These will also
help us in decreasing people dependence on doctors or nurse for small things.
EDUCATIONAL ROBOTS:
In Mithila, the debuts are the robots which take role of a teacher or assistants
of teachers in elementary schools. So, we can use these debuts when the
students up to elementary school take tapes from E-lab and insert in there and
listen to that information.
MODULAR ROBOTS:
Modular robots are a new breed of robots that are designed to increase the
utilization of robots by modularizing their architecture. The functionality and
effectiveness of a modular robot is easier to increase compared to
conventional robots. Modular robotic technology is currently being applied in
hybrid transportation, industrial automation, duct cleaning and handling. Many
research centres and universities have also studied this technology, and have
developed prototypes.
MOBILE ROBOTS:
Mobile robots have the capability to move around in their environment and
are not fixed to one physical location. An example of a mobile robot that is in
common use today is the automated guided vehicle or automatic guided
vehicle (AGV). An AGV is a mobile robot that follows markers or wires in the
floor, or uses vision or lasers. AGVs are discussed later in this article.
Mobile robots are also found in industry, military and security environments.
They also appear as consumer products, for entertainment or to perform
certain tasks like vacuum cleaning. Mobile robots are the focus of a great deal
of current research and almost every major university has one or more labs
that focus on mobile robot research.

Not only smart lock for the doors but also we provide AUGUST Doorbell Cam which helps in getting notification every time bell will ring and we can see and speak with visitors with our smart phones. This not only alerts but also detects motion of visitors, identifying people, even if bell isn’t rung also we will get notification to your smart phone.
After home is secured it comes to streets they walk. In this aspect we use
Knight Scope K5 Robot and Knight Scope K10 robot these are to similar
human’s strength and they follow all our instructions . This is an autonomous
data machine, and it’s not remote controlled this will help us in decreasing
crime. It is designed in such that if it finds something fishy going on it alerts the
humans and human security guards. It can see, hear and feel everything going
on around them. It is 60 inches tall, 300 pounds heavy and work with high tech
technology. It can capture a 360 degree video, optical character recognition,
high quality microphones, an air quality monitor, thermal imaging, infrared
cameras, speed sensor, license plate scanning, air quality sensors radar, lidar
for 3D mapping its surroundings and ultrasonic detectors. It uses wireless data
network to communicate with other K5s and K10s.These K5s and K10s will
monitored by CCTV Cameras and others sources. It works 24 hours with single
charge and when its battery low it returns to charging station, get charged in
20 minutes and return back to its work with full battery. It spends some time
on understanding its environment, detect anomalies and make small decisions.
We use K5s for small areas like streets and K10 for large space like divisions.

All of the industries are interlinked in one way or another. For example:

The raw material cotton is extracted by primary industries
The cotton may then be turned into an item of clothing in the secondary
industry.
Tertiary industries may advertise the goods in magazines and
newspapers.
The quaternary industry may involve the product being advertised or
researched to check that the item of clothing meets the standards that it

And finally the finished goods will be loaded in the cargos and be

7.2-SCHEDULE
Construction schedule:
Construction of Mithila will be started by 2018 and completed after 46.8 years.
So, our Mithila will be completed by2064th year, 8th month or simply
2065(approx.).
Phase 1:
Construction of external cylinder will take 4 years, 8 months (approx.) and it
will take another 4 years, 8 months to complete its internal structure. Totally it
takes 9.6 Yrs. To construct the cylinder.
Phase 2:
Construction of spokes will be considered with construction with torus. So,
construction of each torus externally will take 5 years, 2 months and its
internal structure will be completed by 4 years, 7 months.
So, both tori externally and internally will take 19 years and 8 months.
Phase 3:
Construction of each sphere externally takes 2 years, 5 months and internally
another 2 years.
So, each sphere would take 4.5 years for getting constructed externally and
internally.
So, all 4 spheres would take 18.0 years to get constructed.
