Create a Topology Diagram
Open a Microsoft® Visio® template
1. On the ribbon, click the File tab, and then click New.
2. Click Network, and then click Detailed Network Diagram.
Create a Topology Diagram• Find shapes quickly using the Quick Shapes gallery.
• Connect shapes using AutoConnect.
Or
• Connect shapes by dragging a Connector to the objects.

Link with External Data1. On the ribbon, click the Data tab, and then click Link Data to Shapes.
2. Select data source (for example, Microsoft® Office Excel®, Microsoft® Office Access®, or another database).
3. Proceed through the wizard.
4. When you finish the steps in the wizard, the External Data window opens.

2. Select Automatically Link, and then proceed through the wizard.

4. Shape Data values appear.

Clarify Data Graphics by adding legends.
1. On the ribbon, click the Data tab.
2. Click Insert Legend.
3. Customize the legend after adding it to the page.

• Open specific pages in Visio files.

Insert a Hyperlink
1. On the ribbon, click the Insert tab, and then click Hyperlink.
2. Type or browse to enter the Address and Sub-Address.
3. In the Description box, type a description to show onthe shortcut menu.
You can assign multiple hyperlinks on a single shape.
Result: Consolidated Design View
• Connect. Hyperlink to other local and remote reference information.
• Simplify. Import and display equipment data from Microsoft® Excel® or another data source.
• Share. Publish the data on Visio shapes using Data Graphics.
