IntroductionGaelite introduced neon to Ireland in 1933, and since thenwe have been designing and manufacturing exceptionalneon pieces for a multitude of clients ranging fromretail outlets to large corporates. This versatile medium isused the world over and still has no equal for visual impact.
The aim of this competition is to project neon beyond theconstraints of signage into the realm of visual expression.We will bring a chosen design to actuality through a process of collaboration between the designer and our in house neon specialist.
The PrizeGaelite will manufacture the winning entry to the value of €10,000.
The BriefThe designer must select a corporate setting for the pieceto be housed. The vision for the piece is:1. To make creative use of neon and 2. For it to integrate into the chosen environment.
MaterialsThe primary material to be used is neon, however othermaterials available include a range of sheet metals in different finishes, sheet plastics such as perspex and a variety of other materials. Our neon, vinyl, print and paintdepartments are also at the disposal of the winning entrant.
