The Uses of Masks

1. Masks had a lot of uses in ancient times. Some tribes wear masks during festivals . They believe masks give them special

power.

2. In some theatrical performances and dances, performers use masks to help them play their roles.

Showing Feeling

Masks can be made to express specific thoughts and feeling.

We always use concave and convex forms in masks.

They create different visual effects. Different masks have different facial

expression.

Role Play

Masks are often used in drama.

They can help artists to play the roles of animal or mythical characters.

Some interesting examples

Let’s to make a mask!

Use some small pieces of newspaper to stick on a plastic mask with the white glue.

Use the paper clay to make some concave or convex form on the surface of the mask.

Use the small piece of rice paper to cover the paper clay with white glue.

After it become dry, we can stick some objects on the surface to decorate the mask and paint the different colours on it.
