Dear Colleagues, Jason is a like a family where all colleagues comes together to work for common purpose for more than 6,300 hours a year. Indeed, one can consider that this is your second home where you spent at least 8 hours a day in any workday. To ensure company profitability and get paid for your contribution and effort, one should always upgrade your knowledge and learn to do things better each day, at the lowest possible cost, and reduce mistakes, and create good impression to our customers whom we serve. Customers are your Paymaster, not Jason, as a matter of fact. To ensure customers always return, we must provide good service, quality service, and do extra mile. Everybody knows it, but it comes to real situation, we may sometimes forgotten or do things subconsciously. It is a common phenomenon that mistakes are created through lack or poor communication, internally and externally. We should learn to communicate precisely, and on timely manner. Both must go hand in hand, no two way about it. Below is the summary to ensure happy, repeated customers orders or services. Clear and timely communication, internally and externally. Customers’ care and do extra mile with a smile. Can do attitude. Prevent mistakes and learn from mistakes. Work with integrity and sincerity. Team work among your team‐mates to ensure seamless operation and improve efficiency
Neat and high quality work to give confidence to customers.
Continuous learning. Knowledge is Power. Maintain good practices and improvement Work safely and observe any possible hazards that may happen any time, any where.
Although the above is common and everybody knows about it, we should always remind our‐selves, that when it is time to work, we work hard. Time to play, we play hard! Best Regards, James Tan Chief Operating Officer

The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) is an annual programme sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported by the member‐countries of ASEAN. The programme brings together more than 300 youth from ASEAN countries and Japan, providing unique opportunity to live together on board the ship Fuji Maru for over 40 days.
Preparing to board the ship with a few Singapore participants at Port Klang.
Meeting the participants from Japan.
A series of activities are lined up for the selected participants. The programme includes discussions on social and youth matters, cultural introductions, sports, recreation and club activities. While activities at each port‐of‐call include interaction with the local youth, courtesy calls on dignitaries and institutional visits, as well as community service and homestay experience.
The special part of this programme are the cultural exchange activities and homestay programme with the host families. This experience is like no other compared to tourists who stay in hotels during their visits. Of course, the issue of expectation management comes into play as we would not know how the living conditions of our host families would be. We would not have enjoyed our stay with these families overseas if we did not approach this programme
with an open mind. This is not just a cheap way to travel and make new friends, but it is a chance for me to gain greater insights of the culture of the ASEAN community as well as Japan. This is the kind of experience one will never get by just reading and watching television. The interaction with our foreign friends actually helped us learn what the locals of the different countries view themselves and Singapore on a personal level.
There are many things that I can talk about for this trip but all in all, I really got to open my eyes and see Japan and ASEAN countries from a different perspective.

Many of us know that obesity may lead to multiple health issues such as hypertension (high blood pressure) or hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol level) somehow we always lack of motivation to take up the initiatives. With that in mind, I decided to join this program, especially with continuous encouragement from my mom to keep fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle. And so, I started the program with Health Talk‐cum‐Counseling. From there I learnt that dietary habit is very important, so I try to eat moderately everyday, and most importantly: no supper! (well, no pain no gain *sobs*). Thanks to the know‐how taught in the Health Talk, I have gained a whole new perspective in losing weight. I was tasked to lose 1.5 ‐ 2kg within 3 months. Ideally we should lose our weight slowly, about 1 kg per month. Rapid lose of weight may result in rapid weight gain once you stop the program. Other than dietary habit, exercise is also important, which I enjoyed the Jazzercise and Aerobics sessions a lot. The trainer displayed great energy, so much so that the sessions are never boring and I am always looking forward to go for the exercise every week (we seldom be so excited to exercise aren’t we?). I worked very hard to meet the target with two exercises a week and minimum oily food intake. At the end of the program, I hit the target as lost a total of 2.3 kg! From there, I still continued my exercise routine and calories‐counting until now. I really thank Jason for this program and colleagues, especially Sze Fang, for all her support and encouragement which really made a difference. ‐Article contributed by Chew Hau (Accounts Dept)

Model 9711 and QOR TxRx
Electro-Cleen™ System
Ballest Water Treatment System
Electro‐Cleen™ System
Ballast water is sea water used to stabilize hull balance when
unloading cargoes. Such sea water contains local plankton, bacteria,
viruses, mud and sand of the unloading port where the ballast water
is taken.
As the ballast water is discharged together with the plankton, etc. at
another port, it possibly impacts the ecosystem in the sea area,
causing a global‐scale environmental damage.
Tech cross’ Electro‐Cleen™ System uses electrolysis with the appli‐
cation of electric currents by destroying cell membrane of micro‐
organisms generating voltage. Electrolysis can prevent the re‐
growth of micro‐organisms and maintain efficacy.
Model 9711 and QOR TxRx
All‐in‐OneAntenna System
Quadrature Oriented Reflector, known as QOR technology based
antenna systems are the leading‐edge systems for truly global
operations.
The 9711 QOR system combines a 2.4m C‐band antenna with a
1.2m Ku‐band antenna on the same pedestal. In addition, the
C‐band antenna utilizes a feed that combines both circular and
linear operation all in one product. The user can switch from C‐
band to Ku‐band with a simple push of button.
QOR technology eliminates the need for a second antenna on the
vessel. It provides a significant productivity improvement and an
all‐in‐one communication solution for truly global operation.

Quality Management System Compliments for Workmanship
We received a compliment from our customer (IBN Battuta) in February for Shen Wei (Service Department) for
his excellent service and workmanship. He was tasked to repair the vessel’s Speed Log, and he went beyond the
extra mile than just repairing the equipment.
An interview was carried out and we’d like to share his experiences and key learning points with you:
He briefed the crew on how to perform calibration by themselves when they are
sailing.
He noticed that the equipment manual on the vessel does not match, so he sent the
correct version after the attendance.
The captain asked him to check the vessel’s Inmarsat C as well since it faces
intermittent problem. He managed to find the fault and fix it.
While it is important to be helpful and meets customer’s needs, it is equally
important to manage their expectation by informing them of our familiarity with the
equipment or any foreseen further complication.
Let us congratulate Shen Wei for a job well done and sharing!

Speech by Mr. Joseph Foo at the Dinner and Dance Held on the 35th Anniversary of Jason Electronics on 17th February 2012 at Hilton Hotel, Singapore Distinguished guests and colleagues, good evening to you. A special welcome to all our business associates. Thank you for joining us. The video clip you have just seen is done by a colleague of mine. Six months ago I approached her to make a video clip without any specific requirements in mind. In her typical ‘can do’ attitude, she agreed even though she has never done one before. For what she has done, she prefers to remain anonymous but she is always ever ready to help. I thank God for my life. People like her have been an encouragement. She has been most reassuring, by her dedication and commitment to Jason . Besides her, many of you have also been my source of inspiration. Despite the challenges, you have stayed resolute, determined to face all the challenges without giving up. We want to live up to Jason’s values of character, commitment and competence! To all our fighters, I want to say a big ‘thank you’. This annual dinner and dance is the Company’s way of showing appreciation. It is meant for all staff to have a night of fun and relaxation. There are a few traveling and a few on the job. Nevertheless, on behalf of management and the HODs, I wish all staff a fun evening. This year, we have entrusted the organizing of this event to Jesslyn, a young and sweet Gen Y and her 9 committee members . They have enthusiastically volunteered their time and effort to make this event a memorable one. For their hard work, commitment and sacrifices, may I request all of you to express our gratitude by giving a round of applause? Over the last two decades, the economy has been volatile. I have known of people being retrenched regardless whether they are professionals or not. Last December, a friend lost his job. Though he was financially impacted, he was more affected emotionally and psychologically. On this note, we hope that Jason Marine Group will stay strong; we want you to grow with the Company. The Jason Marine Group has initiated a Personal Growth Plan for the staff. All these years the Company has valued the staff and Jason is here today because of the people we have. We will continue to be people centric. Though each of us is responsible to drive our personal growth, Jason wants to be instrumental by facilitating the personal growth of each individual. With your professionalism, good character, competence and commitment, we will strive forward to be a global world class company in marine electronics which we and our family members are proud of. We are not here just to talk, we may have failed many times, but we are determined to fight till we reach our goal. Our advisor reminded me when the going gets tough, the tough keeps going. At the start of this year, to signal a new beginning, we have engaged a HR Advisor, Ms. Elizabeth Martin‐Chua to help us champion employees’ growth and to enhance HR management capabilities. She has a wealth of experience, being a HR Head for Asia for a MNC. In her last appointment, she was managing a staff force of over 18,000. With her advice, we are rolling out a number of initiatives: a HR calendar, improve staff communication, deployment of values and behaviors, encourage job fit and job rotation, talent mgt. and succession planning. Among these initiatives, I will summarize them as CDC, C for compensation, D for development and C for career. 1st Compensation ‐ a committee is being set up to review the compensation scheme to ensure that staff are appropriately and equitably paid and not because they know how to negotiate for a better package 2nd Development ‐ we believe in continuous improvement and we want staff to be professionally competent in all they do. We match your needs with training and will be introducing coaching and mentoring programs. 3rd Career ‐ career advancement and career paths will be mapped out with more accurate performance evaluation. I want to emphasize again, the responsibility for our own personal growth ultimately rests on each one of us. Finally, let me once again thank you, our staff, our business associates, our supporters, and our 3 advisors for joining us.
May I wish all of you an enjoyable evening.
Thank you.
Joseph Foo
Executive Chairman

JASON ELECTRONICS DINNER & DANCE 2012 17 February 2012 @ Hilton Hotel
‘Retro Fiesta’. This theme couldn’t be more appropriate for Jason Electronics as we celebrated our inaugural Dinner and Dance 2012 at Prestigious Hilton Hotel on 17th February 2012. For many, it was a night to remember! Retro Fiesta was attended by some 170 staff who came dressed to the theme, with polka dots, flora patterns, bell‐bottomed pants and psychedelic colours. Mr Joseph Foo, adorned with a checked shirt and bell‐bottomed pants, kicked off the evening thanking staff for their contributions for 2011 and reiterated the focus of the company in the coming year. As the night progressed, we welcomed our deserving achievers on stage for their award presentation amidst ecstatic cheers from colleagues and friends all around. The quiet corner of Jason Electronics came alive when staff took to the stage and wowed the audience during their performances and competitions. Their sporting spirit and energy were so infectious that some took to the dance floor midway through dinner. In between the exciting performances and lucky draw sessions, guests also moved around taking photos and catching up with friends from different departments. The 2012 Retro Fiesta was a wonderful night filled with great food and great company. We thank everyone for
their active participation in making this event a resounding success!

15 April 1912—2012. The world's largest Ship, RMS Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Know the real reason behind the sinking of Titanic that is known to be an ‘unsinkable’ ship. The accident claimed the lives of over 1,500 passengers.
In the first part of the exhibition, it features 275 artifacts recovered from the Ship's wreckage, including 14 pieces never seen before, housed in galleries meticulously recreated to resemble various iconic sections of the Ship. The Exhibition takes visitors of all ages through key milestones in the Titanic's story, from its conception and construction through to life on board and wreckage its sinking, as well as the incredible stories of its passengers and crew.
You will also get to learn the story behind the discovery of the Titanic wreck in 1985 and the subsequent efforts made to monitor and recover artifacts from the site. Finally, a special "Singapore 1912" gallery will show the impact and influence of the Titanic's sinking on Singapore. Learn more about the love story of Jack & Rose.
A Must to Visit! If you have no plans for the weekend or a Titanic lover, make your way to the ArtScience, Museum at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will run till 29 April 2012.
The exhibition is really amazing and touching. It felt as if you are in the real Titanic ship. It showcases the First Class, Second Class and Third Class room and other main parts of the ship. There are also videos on how they tried to recover the pieces that are left in the sea after the incident. Map will be provided for you to follow through inside the ‘ship’. Don’t miss the chance to touch the iceberg at the exhibition.
I never saw a wreck and never have been wrecked, nor was I ever in any predicament that threatened to end in disaster.—Captain Edward Smith in 1907

Asia Pacific Maritime 2012 was held at Marina Bay Sands last month. As part of this event, Jason Electronics set up a booth measuring 48 square metres, with the theme of ‘Anti Piracy System’ and ‘Fuel Monitoring System’. We had some of our suppliers from Thrane & Thrane, Rockson Automation, Floscan, Hatteland Display, Simrad & Tech Cross who flew all the way from their country to help out at the show. Our exhibition booth was the meeting place for all prospective customers, interested in both our themes. At most of the time, our sales personnel were often seen in discussions with our customers from various countries on our philosophy of the systems we provide and current projects with them. Not forgetting a memorable and wonderful dinner we had with our suppliers on the second day of exhibition to show our appreciation for their support to Jason Electronics. Networking was the key to this event and it has successfully
been achieved. A big thank you to those who have been
involved in the event preparation!
