Proficiency is no longer based on the 41st

Percentile (NPR). Proficiency is now determined by a

specific National Standard Score (NSS).

Note: Comparisons to prior year’s scores may be difficult to make due to the new assessment and re-norming.

2000-2011 Comparative Percentiles

The new Iowa Assessment is closely aligned with the Iowa Core Standards.

Test questions may be more demanding than in the past.

NSS is now used to determine proficiency and growth.

The re-norming may cause comparisons to prior years to be misleading.
