Legal conditions:Austrian Railways Act (EisbG)

§ 19a continuous monitoring

§ 40 railway engineering special fieldsRequired for continuous monitoring of railway infrastructure⇒⇒⇒⇒

Railway undertakings without a certified safety management system due to§ 39c, have to undergo a routine periodic examination , stating that railway infrastructureis fulfilling the prescriptive values of the Austrian railway act (EisbG) (due to 31.12.2008for enterprises existing prior to April 1st, 2002)

Examination is done by notified bodies, civil engineers, engineering offices and selected persons due to § 40 EisbG (with certain limitations)

==> national technical prescriptions remain vitally imp ortant !!!!

Notification -Database

Main problem:localization / reference points

More than 1000 notifications

More than 4000 documents

> 80.000 pages

> 1000 maps

Track database

Task:

1. complete digitalisation of

urban rail network [CUBAL]

2. automated actualization of

reference data [NetScan]

3. all-embracing coverage of

infrastructure data

Track database

detail vs. overview

1. Technical control has to be

possible as well as

2. Economical design, planning

and control
