2011-12
1. Introduction
1.1. The Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan was established in January 1987 by
the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development,
Government of India, New Delhi. It is an autonomous organisation registered
under the Societies' Registration Act, 1860. The objectives of the Pratishthan
are as under :
a) Preservation, conservation and development of the oral tradition of Vedic
studies.
b) Study and teachings of the Vedas through Pathashalas as well as other means
and institutions.
c) Creation and promotion of research facilities so as to bring out the rich wealth
of knowledge contained in the Vedas and to relate it with the contemporary
needs.
d) Collection of information and to arrange basic facilities to store relevant
material and to disseminate and publish it in various forms using different
resources.
1.2. The Objectives of the Pratishthan as given in the Memorandum of
Association are appended at Annexure - I.
1.3. In May 1993, the office of the Pratishthan was shifted to Ujjain, and it was
renamed as "Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan".
2. Authorities of Pratishthan
2.1 General Body and Governing Council are Authorities of the Pratishthan. In
accordance with its Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations,
the various powers and functions for carrying out affairs of the Pratishthan
are vested in its General Body and Governing Council. Hon'ble Union
Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India, New
Delhi is the Chairman for General Body and Governing Council both. The
General Body is vested with the general powers for reviewing the broad
policies and programmes of the Pratishthan. It also suggests measures for its
improvement and development. The Governing Council is the principal
executive body of the Pratishthan and responsible for the general
superintendence, direction and control of its affairs.

2.2 There is a provision in the rules of the Pratishthan for “Finance Committee”.
The Finance Committee is headed by the Hon'ble Vice-Chairman. The
Committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to the management of the
properties and investments, preparation of estimates for annual budget and
statements of accounts and expenditure of the Pratishthan.
2.3 Under its general powers, the Pratishthan has constituted a Project
Committee, which comprises members of eminent scholars of Veda and
related subjects for consideration of its academic projects and programmes.
The composition of the present Project Committee is given at Annexure II.
2.4 The General Body, Governing Council and the Finance Committee were
reconstituted by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource
Development, New Delhi for a term of five years on May 22, 2010. The
composition of these bodies are given at Annexure III, as it was notified by
the Government of India on May 22, 2010. These bodies continued to
function during the year under report.
3. Officers of the Pratishthan
3.1 There is a provision for a Chairman as head of the Pratishthan under rules of
the Pratishthan. The Chairman is to be nominated by the Government of India
for a term of 5 years. He presides over meetings of the General Body and
Governing Council. Hon'ble Minister, Ministry for Human Resource
Development, Government of India, is a Chairman of the Pratishthan at
present.
3.2 The rules of the Pratishthan also provide a clause for a Vice Chairman to be
nominated by the Chairman. The Vice Chairman has to perform such duties
and exercise such functions and powers as the Chairman may specify
generally or in any individual case. Professor S. Sudarshan Sharma, Vice
Chancellor, Shree Venkateshwar Vedic Vishwavidyalaya, Tirupati is on the
post of Vice-Chairman of the Pratishthan since 24.05.2010.
3.3 There is a provision in rules and regulations of the Pratishthan that there
should be a full time salaried Chief Academic & Executive Officer who will
act as a Secretary and he/she shall be the head for academic as well as
administrative activities. The Secretary exercises general supervision and
controls over the affairs of the Pratishthan and implements all decisions taken
by authorities of the Pratishthan.
3.4 Professor Roop Kishor Shastri has been appointed as full time Secretary of
the Pratishthan by the Government of India and he has taken over the charge
as a Secretary of the Pratishthan since 05.01.2011.
4. Other Officers and Staff
4.1 In pursuance of the recommendations of its Internal Work Study Unit, the
Department of Education had on 14.8.98 accorded sanction of the
Government for creation of one post each of Director, Programme Officer,

Section Officer and Accountant as part of interim organisational set-up for
the Pratishthan. The Governing Council of the Pratishthan in its meeting held
on 21.2.2000 approved byelaws for recruitment of all sanctioned posts of the
Pratishthan. With regard to appointment of these posts, the Ministry vide their
letter No. 6-10/2010-SKTII dated 13.01.2011 accorded its approval, under
which each of the post of programme officer, section officer and accountant
have been filled up. The recruitment for the post of director and accounts
officer is under process.

4.3 In the year under review, work of the Pratishthan related to academic,
administrative and financial matters have been carried out under the
supervision of Member Secretary. An Officer on Special Duty (Academic),
Internal Audit Officer - 1 and 5 Contract Employees (on daily wages basis)
have been appointed.
5. Headquarters
5.1 The headquarters of the Pratishthan has its own building located at second
floor in 'B' Wing of Pradhikaran Bhawan at Ujjain (M.P.) which had been

purchased by the Pratishthan from Ujjain Development Authority in
February, 1993. As a long-term measures, the State Government of Madhya
Pradesh had allotted a piece of land measuring 9.553 Hectares (23.6 acres) to
the Pratishthan. The possession of the land was handed over by the State
Government to the Pratishthan in April, 1994.
5.2 During the meeting of Standing Finance Committee held on 18-12-2007, the
construction of buildings and development of land premises were considered
and sanction of estimated Rs. 25.02 crores was granted. On this basis, the
Central Public Works Department submitted various maps to the Pratishthan,
which were sanctioned by the Pratishthan in March 2008. It is expected that
after completion of construction of buildings and development of premises,
administrative building would be handed over to the Pratishthan by Central
Public Works Department, Indore during the year 2012-13.
6. Corpus Fund of the Pratishthan
6.1 At the time of establishment of the Pratishthan, Government had envisaged
that a Corpus Fund of Rupees Ten Crores would be placed at its disposal so
that recurring income from its investment may be utilised for financing
various activities and programmes of the Pratishthan. A sum of Rupees Ten
Crores was provided by the Government in installments by the end of year
1996-97 for this purpose.
6.2 As per decision taken on 18-10-2001 in the meeting of the Finance
Committee, a sum of Rs. 10, 51, 44, 931.74 lying in the general fund has been
added in the Corpus Fund. During the year 2011-12 the Corpus Fund has total
sum of Rs. 20, 51, 44,931.74.
7. New Programmes Approved
7.1 The Standing Finance Committee (SFC) of the Government of India in its
meeting held on 24.11.1998 had considered proposal of the Pratishthan for
enhancement of its Corpus Fund. After detailed discussion, the Committee
was satisfied about the need and justification for enhanced requirement of
funds by the Pratishthan for sustaining the on-going programmes and to
introduce new academic programmes, which are required to fulfil objectives
of the Pratishthan.
7.2 The Standing Finance Committee (SFC) decided to provide the additional
requirement of funds by annual budgetary support from Government instead
of through enhancement of Corpus Fund. It was also emphasized by SFC that
the Pratishthan's activities and Programmes would not be allowed to suffer
due to paucity of funds and the budgetary allocations would be protected. In
accordance with the decision of SFC, the Department of Education under the
Ministry of HRD released Rupees 12 Crores during 2011-12 as grant-in-aid
to the Pratishthan towards additional expenditure for on-going programmes.

7.3 The new academic programmes, which were accepted by the SFC, have been
given below. The status of their implementation obtained during the year
under report has been indicated in brackets below, where applicable:
(1) Financial assistance to Special Gurukulas for sustenance of Shakhas of Vedas, which are on the verge of extinction. The following Gurukulas have
been identified for financial assistance at (a) Trichur [Kerala] for Samaveda
{Jaimniya Shakha}, (b) Baripada, Mayurbhanj [Orissa] for Atharva Veda
{Paipplada Shakha} and (c) Guiyahpal, Singhbumi {Jharkhand} for Atharva
Veda {Paipplada Shakha}. At present, these Gurukuls are being provided
financial assistance under the scheme of "Preservation of oral tradition of
vedic recitation". Action has been initiated to identify more Special
Gurukulas. As a result of concerted efforts of the Pratishthan, now teachings
have been progressing continuously at Chitrakut (Madhya Pradesh) and in
Jharkhand, Orissa, Rajesthan and Uttar Pradesh States in Paippalad Shakha.
(2) Preservation of Srauta Karma Parampara and its documentation. Presently, action has been initiated to collect video/audio cassettes/CD ROMs
of Soma Yajnas and other Yajnas/ Ishtis performed/ to be performed by Non-
Government Organizations, etc at other places.
(3) Implementation of publication programmes for bringing out rare and out-of-
print Veda Samhitas, Brahmanas and other Vedic literature. The publication
of bi-annual Research Journal "Vedavidya" has been continued.
(4) The programme of correspondence course "Ghar Baithe Vedon ki
Shiksha" has been introduced. Its English version has been bought out this
year. The object of this course is to dissemminate knowledge of 4 Vedas,
Vedangas, Brahmin Grantha, Aranyaka, Upnishad and the role and
importance of Indian Culture and Philosophy among the common people.
7.4 Formulation of comprehensive project reports and/or plan of action for
implementation of new programmes continued during the year under report.
8. Meetings of Authorities of Pratishthan and Important
Decisions
8.1 During the year under report, meetings of various Authorities/ Bodies of the
Pratishthan were held as per details given below:

Grants-in Aid Committee : Meeting -2 (Held on August 8,
2011 & March 4, 2012)
8.2 The important decisions taken by the above Bodies/Authorities are as
follows:
Project Committee:
(1) The Project Committee sanctioned the All India and Regional Vedic
Conferences to be held during the year 2011-12.
(2) The Project Committee sanctioned the Seminars and Workshops to be held
during the year 2011-12.
(3) The Grants-in-Aid Committee sanctioned the Vedic Conferences, All India
Seminars, Vedic Knowledge Week & Increase of existing rates of grant in
Vedic classes.
Finance Committee:
(1) Financial Budget for 2011-12 had been approved.
(2) The Committee sanctioned the Audit Certificate issued by the Auditor
General on Pratishthan’s Books of Accounts for the year 2010-11.
Governing Council:
(1) The Committee sanctioned the Audit Certificate issued by the Auditor
General on Pratishthan’s Books of Accounts for the year 2011-12.
Grants-in-Aid Committee:
(1) The Committee sanctioned the amount for financial assistance to various
Veda classes and scheme of Guru-Shishya tradition being run by the
Pratishthan during the year 2011-12.
9. On-going Programmes and Activities
9.0 The Pratishthan has been pursuing a number of programmes and activities for
the achievement of its objectives enshrined in its Memorandum of
Association since its inception. During the year under report, the following
programmes and activities were continued by the Pratishthan:
9.1 Financial Assistance to Vedic Institutions
9.1.1 The objectives of the Pratishthan are to establish, take over, manage or
supervise Vedic Pathashalas/Research Centres in all over the country and
maintain/ run them. Under this provision, financial assistance has been
provided to various Veda Pathashalas/Vidyalayas in the country.
9.1.2 The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New
Delhi had transferred the scheme of financial assistance to Voluntary

Organizations (Veda Pathashalas) for promotion of Vedic education to the
Pratishthan for execution w.e.f. 1.4.1994 along with the budgetary allocation.
Under this scheme, grant-in-aid has been paid to
Organisations/Institutions/Pathashalas towards honorarium to Veda teachers
and stipend/scholarship to Veda students. So far, a fresh Veda teacher has
been paid honorarium of Rs. 5500/- per month. An honorarium @ Rs. 7500/-
per month is paid to those Veda teachers who are engaged in teaching of
Vedas for more than 5 years and @ Rs. 8500/- per month to those Veda
teachers who have been engaged in teaching of Vedas for more than 10 years.
Now under the chairmanship of the Chairman of Pratishthan & Hon’ble
Minister of Human Resources Development, the honorarium has been
increased to Rs. 11,000/-, Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 17,000/- respectively since
April 2011 and the arrears would be disbursed to all vedic teachers on receipt
of grants-in aid subsequently.
9.1.3 A Veda student is paid stipend @ Rs.1000/-p.m. out of which Rs.500/-p.m.
would be deposited by the Pathashala in Fixed/ Recurring deposit in a
Nationalised Bank in the name of the student as deferred Stipend Account of
the student in accordance with the instructions laid down by the Pratishthan
for the purpose. The accumulated amount in the Bank together with interest is
released to the concerned student in one lump sum on successful completion
of his studies. The remaining Rs. 500/- would be utilized by the Pathashala on
the maintenance of the student. Now under the chairmanship of the Chairman
of Pratishthan & Hon’ble Minister of Human Resources Development, the
amount has been increased to Rs. 2000/- per student (under both schemes)
since April 2011. The managements of the Pathashalas are expected that they
should arrange prescribed nutrition standard meal for students and also
provide necessary funds from their own resources for the purpose. The
management of the Pathashala is also expected to keep proper accounts of
actual expenditure under the sub-head "Maintenance of students" both in
respect of grant-in-aid provided by the Pratishthan as well as the funds
provided by them from their own resources and its utilization duly certified
by the Auditors.
9.1.4 During the year 2011-12 under report, the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India, New Delhi provided Rs 12,00,00,000/-
as a grant-in-aid to the Pratishthan for the year 2011-12 to meet expenditure
on honorarium of Veda teachers and stipend of Veda students in Veda
Pathashalas and honorarium of Swadhyayi-teachers and stipend of students
participating in the scheme of "Preservation of oral tradition of Vedic
recitation", on-going projects and construction of new campus.
9.1.5 The Pratishthan invited applications from Vedic Pathashalas/Vidyalayas,
their teachers and students along with all relevant details. The information
furnished by Pathashalas was scrutinized and after satisfactory fulfilment of
various conditions and requirements, etc. the grant was released to various
Pathashalas.

9.1.6 During the financial year 2011-12, Rs. 264.18 lakhs were paid as honorarium
to 387 Veda teachers of 59 Ved Pathshalas/Schools and Rs. 319.43 lakhs
were paid as a stipend to 2816 students. For meeting incidental expenses, a
contingency grant of Rs. 70.46 lakhs provided. Total amount of Rs. 654.07
lakh was released to 59 Pathashalas / Vidyalayas during the year under
review.
9.1.7 During the financial year 2011-12, Rs. 10.08 lakhs were paid as honorarium
to 11 Veda teachers of 4 Ved Pathshalas/Schools located in North-Eastern
States and Rs. 12.96 lakhs were paid as a stipend to 76 students. For meeting
incidental expenses, a contingency grant of Rs. 1.82 lakhs provided. Thus,
total amount of Rs. 24.86 lakhs was released to 4 Pathashalas/Vidyalayas in
North-Eastern States during the year under review. In order to disseminate
and publish Veda knowledge in the North-Eastern states, veda conference and
veda seminars were organized, on which Rs. 12.46 lakhs incurred. Hence,
total expenditure of Rs. 45.26 lakhs in North-Eastern States were made.
9.1.8 A statement of financial assistance provided to Veda Pathashalas /
Vidyalayas during 2011-12 consisting of the quantum of assistance and the
purpose for which it was provided, has been furnished at Annexure IV-A &
Annexure IV-B.
9.2 Examination of Students of Veda Pathashalas/Vidyalayas
9.2.1 The examinations for students were conducted at the Ved Pathashalas/
Vidyalayas recognized as self Centres of examination by the Pratishthan
spreaded over different regions of the country under the scheme for
Preservation of Oral Tradition of Vedic Recitation (Guru-Shishya
Parampara). The examinations of the students from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th year
were held under the guidance and supervision of Superintendent, Centre
Superintendent and learned scholars from eminent educational institutions
like Kashi Hindu University, J.R. Rajasthan Sanskrit University, Jaipur,
Kolkata University, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth,
Delhi, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar Allahabad Vishwavidyalaya
(Allahabad), Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Puri, Vedic
Sanshodhan Mandal, Pune, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Vanarasi,
Gurukul Kangadi Vishwavidyalaya, Hardwar, Somnath Sanskrit
Vishwavidyalaya, Verawal and Vikram University, Ujjain etc. approved by
the Pratishthan at the Self-Centres.
9.2.2 The examinations of 4th year (Veda Bhushan) and 6
th year (Veda Vibhushan)
students were organised at the following eight centres in the year 2011-12.
The examinations of Vedic students from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka
states were organized at Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) between 4-12-11 and
6-12-11. The examinations of Vedic students from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,
Delhi and North-Eastern states were organized at Jhunsi (Allahabad) between
8-12-11 and 10-12-11. The examinations of Vedic students from Tamilnadu
and Kerala states were organized at Rajpalayam (Tamilnadu) between 8-12-

11 and 10-12-11. The examinations of Vedic students from Orissa, West
Bengal and Jharkhand states were organized at Puri (Orissa) between 12-12-
11 and 14-12-11. The examinations of Vedic students from Rajasthan were
organized at Bassi (Jaipur) between 22-12-11 and 24-12-11. The
examinations of students from Maharashtra were organized at Nasik from 26-
12-11 to 27-12-11. The examinations of students from Himachal Pradesh
were organized at Una (Himachal Pradesh) from 8-1-12 to 9-1-12 and
students from Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Gujarat states were
organized at Ujjain between 21-1-12 and 23-1-12. On conduction of above
examinations in 2011-12, the Pratishthan incurred an expenditure of Rs.
28.27 lakhs towards travelling allowance and honorarium to students,
examiners and supervisors.
9.2.3 During the year 2011-12, the convocation programme for pass out students in
the 6th year examination has been proposed on 5th May, 2012.
9.3 Scheme for Preservation of Oral Tradition of Vedic Recitation
9.3.1 This scheme of the Government had been in operation since 5th Five Year
Plan. The scheme had been transferred to the Pratishthan for execution with
effect from 1.4.1994 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The
objective of this scheme is to provide special incentive for the preservation of
the oral tradition of Vedic recitation. Under this scheme, A Swadhyayi-
teacher is required to teach at least five to maximum of ten students at his
home or any suitable place in their locality. The selected Swadhyayi-teacher
for the said purpose is required to possess proficiency at least in one Shakha
of the Vedas. He is expected to provide special coaching to the students in
recitation specially assigned to him for this purpose, so as to enable them to
acquire proficiency in reciting the complete Samhita with Swara of the
particular Shakha for which he is qualified. The duration of coaching is six
years for each student. After completion of syllabus of six years, there is a
provision to pursue higher studies for 2 years Kramant.
9.3.2 The parents of the students are required to execute an indemnity bond for the
value of Rs.10,000/- with two sureties to the effect that they will not
withdraw their wards from the course of study for a minimum period of six
years, and if they happen to do so, they will be liable to refund the entire
amount paid as stipend so far, or Rs.10,000/-, whichever is higher. The
scholar-teacher is also required to give an undertaking to abide with the terms
and conditions of the scheme.
9.3.3 The grant was provided to 273 Units under the Vedic Saswar Yojana during
the year under review. 273 Swadhyayi-teachers and 2578 Vedic students
participated in the scheme and financial assistance of Rs. 268.85 lakh was
provided to them.

9.3.4 The grant was provided to 7 units in North-Eastern states under the Vedic
Saswar Yojana during the year under review, under which 7 Swadhyayi-
teachers and 79 Vedic students participated in the scheme and financial
assistance of Rs. 7.94 lakh was provided to them. This amount is based on
increased rates of honorarium and stipend sanctioned by the Ministry of
H.R.D.
9.4 Conduction of Vedic Classes for all
9.4.1 The Pratishthan formulated a scheme to run the vedic classes, for those
persons who have an interest in Vedic studies and disseminate the relevant
information, irrespective of their being ineligible / unqualified and have a
plan to run vedic class. Under this scheme, 100 lectures are delivered on
Saturday and Sunday in two lectures on each special topics of vedas. The
structure of syllabus which includes various subjects prescribed by the
Pratishthan. For conducting these classes, following financial assistance is
provided :
1. Honorarium payable to Lecturers (Rs. 250/- per lecture) Rs. 25,000/-
2. Remuneration payable to Coordinator
(Rs. 1200/- for 20 lectures each) Rs. 6,000/-
3. Stationery, including postage & other expenses Rs. 9,000/-
Total : Rs. 40,000/-
9.4.2 The Vedic classes were organized at the following places during the year
under report:
1. Sanatan Dharm College, Ambala Cant., Haryana
2. Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan, New Hyderabad, Lucknow (U.P.)
3. Vikramajeet Singh Sanatan Dharm College, Kanpur (U.P.)
9.5 Seminars
9.5.0 To encourage scholars for research activities in vedic studies, seminars are
being organized in the thrust areas of the Pratishthan. These seminars are
fully or partially financed by the Pratishthan. The Pratishthan provided
financial assistance to the following organizations for organizing the seminars
during the year under report:
9.5.1 All India Vedic Seminar on “Special Effect of Pronunciation and
Kanthasthikaran of Vedas under South Indian system in Vedic
Parampara” at Thrisur (Kerala) organized between April 30 - May 1,
2011
A three day All India Vedic seminar had been organized a Thrisur,

On 30th April, 2011 the seminar had been inaugurated with Vedic
Mangalacharan. Dr. Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary, Maharshi Sandipani Ved
Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain presided over the inaugural function. Prof.
Sukumar Ajikode, prominent scholar and social activist delivered his key
speech. On the occasion, Shri I.P. Pal, Mayor, Thrisur Nagar Nigam, Shri
M.C.S. Menon, Chairman, Cochin Devaswam Board, Dr. P.V. Krishnan Nair,
Dr. C.M. Nilakanthan, Shri Vadakkumpad Narayan, Vice Chairman,
Brahmaswam Math and Chief Organizer addressed the seminar.
Prof. K.V. Vasudevan presided over the academic session of the
seminar. Dr. N. Kannan, Tanjavur Shastra Vishwavidyalaya, Prof. Narendra
Bhatt, Shringeri Math, Kaladi, Shree Om Oravankara Damodaran Nambudiri,
Rigvedi scholar, Brahmin Math, Shri A.N. Kesavan, Kaladi delivered their
lectures by expressing views on difference process of study-teaching and
technique of kanthasthikaran (recalling) of Vedas from south Indian system.
The second session of seminar started with Vedic incantation. Dr. P.V.
Ramankutty presided over the session. Shri Subramanya Sitaram Bhatt, Shri
Thiruvainkidanath Sharma, Pallakad, Shri N.M. Vasudevan Nambuthiri and
Shri M.G. Nambuthiri presented papers on Samveda system of South India.
In the afternoon session, seminar had been presided over by Dr. K. Vishnu
Nambuthiri, Assistant Professor, Grammer, Shri Shankaracharya
Vishwavidyalaya. Dr. R.V.S.S. Avadhanulu, Hyderabad and Dr. A. Kumar
Subramanya Bhatt, Mangalore Vishwavidyalaya read their research papers on
taitiriya parampara of Indian Yajurveda. Also Dr. Chandrabhushan Jha, Delhi
Vishwavidyalaya, Dr. Vasudevan, Shri Shankaracharya Vishwavidyalaya,
Trivendraum, Shri Kedalur Shreedas, Kanchi Kamkoti Pathashala, Shri K.
Jainarayan Tirupati and Dr. P.N. Damodaran presented papers.
Third session of seminar had been presided over by Dr. Bhagyalata
Pataskar, Director, Vedic Sanshodhan Mandal, Pune and delivered her
speech. Dr. V. Ramkrishna Bhatt Kaladi, Dr. Nirmala Kulkarni, Pune
Vishwavidyalaya, Dr. C.M. Neelakanthan, Kaladi, Dr. K.A. Ravindran,
Kaladi presented their research papers on Vedang education.
Chief Guest discussed the various processes of Vedic incantation of Rig-
Veda in the evening of 30th April, 2011. A Sanskrit play “Kuttiyam” had been
staged by the noted artists of Kerala. On second day in the evening, Vedic
scholars exercised incantation on Samaveda and Yajurveda by different
processes of South India.
The valedictory function addressed by Padmashree Dr. M. Lilavati. Also
Dr. V.K. Vijayan and Prof. N. Muralidharan addressed the meeting. Shri P.N.
Subramanyan respected the chief guests and learned scholars present in the
seminar and Dr. K.A. Ravindran proposed vote of thanks. The entire
programme was appreciated by all Vedic scholars and dignitary civics
present.

9.5.2 All India Vedic Seminar on “Bhagya and Purushartha in Vedic Vangmay”
organized at Jullundur (Punjab) between September 9-10, 2011
A two day All India Seminar had been organised jointly with Girls
College, Jullundur City, Punjab from 9th to 10
th September, 2011.
Professor Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary, Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya
Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain presided over the inaugural session held on 9th
September, 2011. Professor Brij Bihari Choube, Hoshiarpur was the special
invitee guest. Professor Abhiraj Rajendra Mishra, ex-Vice Chancellor,
Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya was the Chief Guest. Dr. Umesh
Sharma was the special guest. Prof. Ramakant Angiras, Ex-Head of Sanskrit
Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Swatantra Kumar, Vice
Chancellor of Gurukul Kangadi Vishwavidyalaya, Hardwar and Dr. Aruna
Sharma, Head of Sanskrit Department, Kurukshetra Vishwavidyalaya,
Kurukshetra delivered their lectures.
At the end of inaugural session, Shri Rajendra Nair, Treasurer of
Managing Committee of Girls College expressed his gratefulness to the
invitee guests participated in the seminar.
The second session was presided over Professor Lekhram Sharma, Ex-
Head of Sanskrit Department, Gurunanak Dev Vishwavidyalaya, Amritsar.
During the session, Professor Dalveer Singh, Head of Sanskrit Department,
Gurunanak Dev Vishwavidyalaya, Amritsar, Dr. Kuldeep Arya, Professor
Dinesh Shastri, Gurukul Kangadi Vishwavidyalaya, Hardwar, Professor
Shreedhar Vashishtha, Gurgaon, Professor Lekhram Sharma, Amritsar etc.
learned scholars delivered their lectures.
During the third session, Dr. Usha Kiran, Ranchi, Dr. Shreyans Dwivedi,
Gurgaon, Dr. Vasudha Eri, Gurgaon, Professor Shree Krishna Sharma,
Kurukshetra Vishwavidyalaya presented research papers.
On 10th September, 2011 the fourth session, had been presided over by
Professor Rajendra Sharma, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Professor
C.D.S. Kaushal, Kurukshetra Vishwavidyalaya, Professor Prabhat Singh,
Hoshiyarpur etc. Vedic learned scholars presented research papers.
The fifth session of the seminar had been presided over by Dr. L.P.
Upadhyay, D.A.V. College, Jullundur. Dr. Kuldeep Singh Arya, D.A.V.
College, Amritsar, Dr. Lalit Gaur, Kurukshetra Vishwavidlaya etc. learned
scholars read out the research papers.
The valedictory session had been presided over by Dr. Neeraj Sharma,
Head of Sanskrit Department, Girls College, Jullundur. In this session, Prof.
Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary, Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya
Pratishthan, Ujjain, Prof. Vikram Viveki, Gurgaon, Professor Raghunath Eri,
Gurgaon, Prof. Rajeshwar Mishra, Kurukshetra Vishvavidyalaya etc. learned

9.5.3 Arshpragya Acharya Vidyanidhi Centenary Year, organized at
Kurukshetra Vishwavidlaya from 30-09-11 to 01-10-11
On the eve of Arshpragya Acharya Vidyanidhi Centenary Year, an All
India Seminar by Maharishi Sandipani Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain jointly
with Kurukshetra Vishwavidyalaya had been organized. Dr. Suresh Deshwal,
Registrar of the University presided over the inaugural session by lighting the
candle. The Secretary of Maharishi Sandipani Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain,
Dr. Roop Kishor Shastri in his inaugural speech expressed his views that such
dignitaries are rarely available, who being a learned scholar in Vedas and
grammar, also had a poetry heart. Acharya Vidyanidhi was such a resourceful
dignitary. In this seminar, jointly organized with Sanskrit Department,
Kurukshetra Vishwavidyalaya and Principal, Vidya Sansthan they
propounded on “Arsh-Anarsh Tendencies & Navjagaran on Vedic
discussion” that since decades our country faced a chain of slavery. During
that period all books were affected. A number of intellectual persons existed
there but were unable to direct and inculcate public consciousness amongst
public for agitation. Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati was such a mastermind
person who had opposed his voice loudly against the British Rule. They
talked about Suraj and Swaraj in his books. If foreign king conducts fatherly
behaviour, it cannot be considered better than Swaraj. After going through
Arsh and Anarsh literature, Swami Dayanand defined it without any
insistence.
On the occasion, a C.D. on Samaveda lyrics was also released. As a
Chief Guest, Dr. Vedpal Acharya stated that since when a man exists in the
world, he has two tendencies. One person is that he utilizes the things, as his
own right and another person is that who thinks less for own but think more
for others. It means they consider growing with others for self growth is
called God tendency.

Science in Vedas
A three day All India Seminar in joint collaboration of Maharishi
Rashtriya Sandipani Vedvidya Pratishthan, Ujjain and unit of Janardan Rai
Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth- Research Institute of Rajasthan Studies had
been organized between October 15 and 17, 2011. The inaugural session
started at 11 AM, which had been presided over by Prof. Rajendra Mishra,
Head of department of Vedas, Jagatguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan
Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya. Chief Guest of the seminar was Shri Rambharose
Lal Gupt -As a Chief Guest, Prof. Gupt addressed that implied knowledge in
Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan

Vedas is spiritual, on the basis of which facts of science may be discovered,
provided that scientists should possess Sanskrit knowledge and Sanskrit
scholars should have knowledge of science necessarily.
During the mid session, the message of Shri Bhawani Shankar Garg,
Chancellor was read out. According to which he propounded that Vedas are
main sources of knowledge-science and its implied knowledge is worth
following for general people.
An exhibition on “Science in Sanskrit” organized at the study hall of
Sahitya Sansthan had been inaugurated by Sanskrit Professor Harihar Trivedi,
Delhi University. In the exhibition, meaning of various scientific formulae
used in Vedas and a number of Sanskrit books got converted in Hindi and
English were understood by pictures.
The third session of seminar was presided over by Ex-Vice Chancellor,
Kota Vishwavidyalaya, Kota. The session was conducted by Dr. Dheeraj
Prakash Joshi. In this session, a number of papers presented by Shri Lakhan
Sharma, Engineer of Thermal Power Project on Theory of Energy Production
in Rig-veda, Shri Ram Bharose Lal Gupta on Scientific Form of Lord Vishnu,
Vineeta Shrimali on Manufacture of weapons in Vedas, Shri Rakesh Sharma
on Sanskrit and Computer Science, Dr. Subhash Taneta on Political Science
in Vedas and Smt. Nandini Singh on Socio Scientific Significance of Vedic
rituals were read out by them.
The third session of seminar held on 16th October, 2011, was presided
over by Dr. Hemlata Boliya, Professor in Sanskrit Department, Sukhadiya
Vishwavidyalaya. The session was presided over by Ex Prof. Narhari
Pandya. During the session, papers presented mostly were centralized on
Medical Science. The session was presided over by Dr. Shakti Kumar and
conducted by Dr. Teena Siyal. In this session, Dr. Rajendra Mishra in Vedic
Shulbasutreshu Mathematics Science briefed details on Vedic Yagna
Mandapas and process of Vedic creation.
The sixth session of seminar held on 17th October, 2011, was presided
over by Shri Harihar Shastri and conducted by Dr. Vimal Jain. At the outset,
Sushri Surabhi Maru presented papers on agriculture science in vedic
literature, Shri Hansmukh Seth on processes of grain accumulation in vedas,
Smt. Pramila Shrivastava on agricultural arrangement in vedas, Shri Vimal
Jain on agricultural science in vedas, Shri Rohit Kumar on color science in
vedas, and Dr. Kusum Lata Tailor on water treatment in Atharva Veda
subjects which were read out.
On the valedictory session, as a Chief Guest, Secretary of Maharishi
Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain, Professor Roop Kishor
Shastri addressed that Vedas are cultural trust of India and appealed that the
Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has
introduced a scheme “Ghar Baithe Vedon Ki Shiksha” which has been made
available to all interested students to avail veda education. Presiding over the

session, Prof. Divya Prabha Nagar, Vice Chancellor, Janardan Rai Nagar,
Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Deemed Vishwavidyalaya, Udaipur delivered in his
speech emphasizing the need of organization of veda scholars for discovery
of science in vedas. In order to have parity in ideas and thoughts between
scientists and vedic scholars, it was emphasized to establish Vedic Science
Laboratory so as to prevent our vedic culture trust.
9.5.5 All India Seminar organized in joint collaboration with Gurukul Kangri
Vishwavidyalaya, Hardwar, Uttarakhand between November 11 - 13,
2011
A three day All India Seminar had been organized in joint collaboration
with Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Hardwar, Uttarakhand was held
between November 11 - 13, 2011. In the seminar, a number of vedic scholars
visited from different states and presented their research papers on Vedic
Environment. All vedic scholars present were of the view that Vedas have
basic role in the environment protection.
9.5.6 All India Seminar on “Vedas – A Source of Mathematics ” at Tanjavur
(Tamilnadu) held in between February 17 – 18, 2012
A two day All India Seminar in collaboration of Arts and Science School
of Studies, Oriental Science and Research Department, Shastra
Vishwavidyalaya, Tanjavur (Tamilnadu) had been organized between
February 17 – 18, 2012. In this seminar, a number of scholar participants
from various states of India, particularly from Southern States participated.
On 17th February, 2012 the inaugural session which had been presided over
by the Chancellor of Tamilnadu, Shri Rosayya ji. Chief Guest was Professor
S. Sudarshan Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Venkateshwar Vedic
Vishwavidyalaya, Tirupati. The session was conducted by Professor
Sethuraman, Vice Chancellor, Shastra Vishwavidyalaya. The session was
started with traditional vedic mantrochchar by vedic scholars. On the
occasion, special scholars in Vedic Mathematics also were present and they
expressed their views on the importance of Vedic mathematics and its
history. Besides, they emphasized various aspects for research on modern
mathematics.
On the second day of valedictory session, Chief Guest, Prof. Roop
Kishor Shastri, Secretary of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya
Pratishthan, Ujjain was present and the session was conducted by the Vice
Chancellor. On behalf of the Pratishthan, Shri Venkateshwarlu participated in
the seminar. Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri stated Vedic maths formulae are
basics in modern mathematics, which have contributed greatly and by its
utilization, concrete results may be obtained. He appreciated the topic of
seminar and congratulated the Vice Chancellor of Shastri University and
members of the organizing committee for success of the seminar. A vote of
thanks was proposed by the Vice Chancellor to learned scholars and
vedpathis participated.

9.5.7 A three day All India Seminar organized by Ved Vigyan, Khajur Gaon,
Rai Barreily between January 29 – 31, 2012
A three day All India Seminar sponsored by Maharishi Rashtriya
Sandipani Vedvidya Pratishthan, Ujjain was held at Dr. Ram Manohar
Lohiya College, Khajur Gaon, Raibareilly between January 29 – 31, 2012.
The inaugural session had been presided over by Prof. Amar Singh. Prof.
Omprakash Pandey, Chief Guest, Dr. Sunil Singh Chandel and Dr. Sadanand
Tripathi were invitee guests and Dr. Anup Kumar Mishra was Special Guest.
Prof. Amaldhari Singh presented outline of the veda-science seminar. Vedas
are traditional books of Bhartiya Vangmay. Interviews by sages with
miraculous activities are admirable and utterly certified. Vedas are main
sources of all disciplines. Its utility is all time, universal and public. Vedas
speak impartially for welfare of entire community. Hence, through holding
the seminars knowledge-science implied in Vedas should be published.
Keeping this in view, the seminar has been based on important subjects e.g.
Yagna Vigyan, Srishti Vigyan, Time Cycle (Kalchakra), Jyotirvigyan,
Environment, World Friendly spirit.
Dr. Anup Mishra of Veda Vidya Pratishthan, presented introduction of
Pratishthan, its schemes and activities being carried out. The President, Chief
Guest and other learned scholars propounded the importance of Vedas and its
utility for learning in modern times. Also Dr. Rekha Shukla and Dr. Navlata
Ji addressed the seminar. The session was conducted by Dr. Mahadev Singh
and vote of thanks was proposed by college chief administrator, Prof. Hazari
Singh.
During the two academic sessions, the research papers presented which
were read and special discussion was held. On 30-01-2012 in the morning,
holy bath worship performed on the bank of Uttarwahini Bhagwati Bhagirathi
which was followed by darshan worship at Shiv Peeth – Shakti Pathee
Shivpuri, Garg Ashram.
Third academic session of the seminar was presided over by Prof.
Kamlesh Jha, Kashi Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya, Varanasi. Dr. Shiv Balak
Dwivedi was Chief Guest and Dr. Sheetla Prasad Pandey from Kashi Hindu
Vishwa Vidyalaya, Varanasi was invitee guest. Dr. Pandey presented form of
Aagam in simple language. Dr. Dwivedi highlighted importance of vedas
along with Sanskrit language. Prof. Jha outlined relationship between Nigam
and Aagam.
During the fourth and fifth academic sessions, research papers presented
and in-depth discussion on the same was held.
During the valedictory session, special dignitaries were paid token of
respect. The session was presided over by Acharya Bhakti Putra Rohatam,
Kashi Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya, Varanasi. Dr. Omprakash Pandey, a great
Space Scientist was a Chief Guest. Dr. Ramnath Singh, Special Guest and Dr.
Madhuri Tiwari, Dr. Anurag Shukla – invitee guests also were present.

Science, Science of creation, time-cycle (kalachakra) Medical Science and
Environmental Science which are having their roots in Vedas were
elaborately presented in grandeur manner. In view of utilities of Vedas, an
emphasis was laid on its learning. The session was conducted by Prof.
Baijnath Vishwakarma. At the end, Principal of the college proposed vote of
thanks. Principal paid special gratitudes to the Pratishthan Secretary for
disseminating Veda vidya and stressed the need to conduct such programmes,
time and again for preservation of Veda vidya resolution was confirmed.

Shri Pattabhiram Shastri Ved Mimansa Research Centre, Varanasi (U.P.)
between January 20 - 22, 2012.
9.6 Vedic Conferences (Vedic Sammelans)
9.6.0 In order to disseminate Vedic studies and knowledge widely throughout the
country, the Vedic Conferences play a significant role in the programmes of
the Pratishthan. In every year, a three day National Conference and other
Regional Vedic Conferences are organized, which include inaugural and
valedictory functions. These conferences are organized in collaboration with
eminent Vedic institutions, Universities, Vidyapeethas, etc. For conducting
the conferences are organized at different places where such institutions are
not available, Organizing Committee of eminent scholars and prominent
persons have been constituted.
The Pratishthan organized five regional and one All India Vedic
Conferences during the year 2011-12 under review. The details of the
conferences organized by the Pratishthan are appended below.
9.6.1 North-Eastern Regional Vedic Conference at Guwahati – 2011 between
April 22 - 24, 2011
A three day North-Eastern Regional Vedic Conference with the
assistance of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratishthan was
organized at Assam Ved Vidyalaya located at Vedpuram Roopnagar,
Guwahati between April 22 - 24, 2011 with great enthusiasm. The inaugural
session was presided over by the Chancellor, Shriyut Janki Vallabh Patnayak.
On 22nd
April, 2011 on arrival of the Mahamahim Chancellor Sir, as per
old tradition of “Gayan Vadan” of Assam, by 108 females carrying Mangal
Kalash along with Vedapatha performed and offered special welcome to
them. Mahamahim Chancellor Sir and special invitee guests, Prof. Roop
Kishor Shastri, Secretary of the Pratishthan, Dr. Ashok Kumar Goswami,
Head of Sanskrit Department, Guwahati Vishwavidyalaya, Dr. Mukund Kam
Sharma, Hon’ble Judge, Supreme Court of India, Prof. Nalini Devi Mishra,
Faculty of Sanskrit Department, Guwahati Vishwavidyalaya and Special
Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan

Orator of conference, Shriyut Sunil Kumar, Retired Judge of the High Court,
Guwahati & Chairman of college occupied seats on stage following with
Vedic Mangalacharan. Followed with Saraswati Vandana, Mahamahim
Chancellor Sir together with other invitees inaugurated the function by
lighting the lamp. After addressing the audience by Chief Orator, Prof. Nalini
Devi Mishra, Special Invitee of the Pratishthan, Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri,
Secretary, Dr. Ashok Kumar Goswami, Prof. Rajeshwar Mishra, Kurukshetra
Vishwavidyalaya (Haryana) also delivered their lectures. On the occasion,
Mahamahim Chancellor Sir stated the utility of Vedas in modern age for
general public and delivered a knowledge focussed lecture in Sanskrit.
In the end, Shri Krishna Puranik, Principal of the college proposed vote
of thanks. The valedictory session was held with the Shanti Mantra Patha
followed by National anthem. The entire programme was conducted by Dr.
Kameshwar Shukla ji, Grammer Teacher, Guwahati Vishwavidyalaya.
9.6.2 Three day Vedic Conference and Vidvad Goshthi, Varanasi (July 30-31
& August 1, 2011)
In joint collaboration of Shri Jigyasu Smarak Panini Girls College and
Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratishthan, a three day Vedic
Conference was organized. The function was inaugurated with hoisting the
flag jointly by Dr. Mahaveer Agrawal, Vice Chancellor of Gurukul Kangadi
Vishwavidyalaya and Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary of the Pratishthan
on 30th July, 2011. In the inaugural session, Chief Guest, Prof. Mahaveer
Agrawal highlighted the importance of vedas and addressed that Vedas are
main sources of all ideals. If the capacity to remove adverse environment and
its extreme state of the country has got somebody, it is possessed by the
Vedic scholars and hence the Goverment should depend on Vedic thinking
power necessarily.
Dr. Roop Kishor Shasti, Secretary & Special Guest, Maharishi Sandipani
Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratishthan addressed that girls should be provided Veda
Vidyang education compulsorily. Since after getting married such girls have
to enter another family, she would be capable to make total environment with
vedas and would make many lineage proud. For making this dream as true,
Panini Girls College being a first place in the world and which is pride of
India. Girls of this college are daughters of the society; they are our future
generation’s decorum and splendour. Dr. Shastri also welcomed traditional
Vedic scholars and stated that if vedas are available today in pure form, it is
because of them only. If these vedics did not remember Vedas by heart and
did not maintain Shruti Parampara intact, then Vedas should have been
vanished compulsorily. These Veda scholars by Vipra deformity lessons
preserve the original form of Vedas. Vedas are cultural trust and its
knowledge should be spreaded widely, hence all of us should contribute in
this area actively.

Respected Mahant Shri Rameshwar Puri, Chairman, Annapurna Math,
Varanasi stated that Sanskrit is not only language of recitation, rather it
should be employment oriented. Merely by announcing Sanskrit language in
the seminars, it cannot be uplifed. There should be need for practical and
research work. The session was conducted by Dr. Nandita Shastri and vote of
thanks proposed by respectable member of school Dr. Brahmanand
Chaturvedi (Patna). After inaugural session, in the first session of
Vidvadgoshthi focussing on the topic” Vedarth Nirupane Jyotishasya
Upadeyata“and function was presided over by Dr. Ganesh Datt Sharma. On
the occasion, Dr. Suryadevi Chaturvedi, Dr. Pratibha Purandhi, Shree
VinayJha (Darbhanga, Bihar) etc. scholars and vidushis addressed their key
views & innovative ideas.
9.6.3 Three day All India Vedic Sammelan in joint collaboration with Shri
Somnath Trust & Shri Somnath Sanskrit Vishwavidyala organized
between September 3 – 5, 2011
A three day All India Sammelan was inaugurated by Shri Prasannavadan
Bhai Mehta, Secretary, Shri Somnath Trust, Gujrat on 3rd September, 2011. In
the inaugural session, Chief Guest, Prof. Pankaj L. Jani, Vice Chancellor,
Shree Somnath Sanskrit Vishwavidyala, Veraval and special invittees Prof. S.
Sudarshan Sharma, Vice Chairman, and Dr. Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary,
Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratishthan, Ujjain were present.
On the occasion, a number of vedapathis participated through out of India
presented Mangalacharan in different Vedas and scholars from different
Vishwavidyalayas delivered their lectures on Vedas.
On 4th September, 2011, a discussion was held on Vedas by learned
scholars in four consecutive sessions. On 5th September, 2011, the session
was presided over by Dr. Gautam Patel, Chairman, Shri Sanskrit Seva Samiti,
Ahmedabad. Chief Guest was Shri Mahendra Bhai Trivedi, Chairman,
Pavitra Yatra Dham Vikas Yog, Gujarat. Dr. Bhagyesh Jha, Secretary,
Yuvak Seva & Sanskritik Pravratti Vibhag, Gujarat was Special Invitee. A
number of Vedic scholars participated throughout the country discussed on
Vedas. During the Sammelan, on each day in the evening, cultural
programmes were held. Thus, three day All India Sammelan was concluded.
9.6.4 A three day All India Vedic Sammelan in joint collaboration with Shri
Ram Ved Vidyalaya, Ayodhya Karsevak Puram, Faizabad (U.P.)
organized between November 26 – 28, 2011
With the financial assistance of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya
Pratishthan, Ujjain, a three day Regional Vedic Sammelan was held at Shri
Ram Ved Vidyalaya, Ayodhya Karsevak Puram, Faizabad (U.P.) between
November 26 – 28, 2011. Reception Committee welcomed a number of
students, teachers and learned scholars participated throughout India. Hon’ble
Shri Lallu Singhji, Chairman, Reception Committee furled the religious flag
on 26-11-11 at 10 A.M. The inaugural function at 11 A.M. was presided over
Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan

In the afternoon at 3 P.M. Dr. Omprakash Pandey presented a paper on
Veda and Science. The session was presided over by Prof. Roop Kishor
Shastri ji. In the evening session, Antyakshari competition was held. On 27th
November at 9 A.M. the second session on “Environment in Vedas” was
held. The session was presided over by Respected Mahant Kamal Nayan
Dasji. A meeting was held at 2 P.M. under chair of Prof. Shri Radha Krishna
Manodi, under which Vishwa Veda Sansthan, Chairman expressed his views.
Shri Champatji stated that in the entire World, only India is a Vedic country.
Its true form may be kept intact on the basis of Vedic theory. A cultural
programme, based on Sanskrit language by the renowned artists was held at 9
P.M. which was appreciated by all participants.
The valedictory session of regional Vedic sammelan was held on 28th
November 2011 at 10 A.M. During the course of Sammelan, every day four
Vedas recitation was continued for two hours.
9.6.5 World Vedic Sammelan in joint collaboration with Rashtriya Sanskrit
Sansthan organized between January 4 - 10, 2012
In joint collaboration with Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Maharishi
Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratishthan, Ujjain and Indira Gandhi
Rashtriya Kala Kendra, a World Vedic Sammelan was organized on 4th
January, 2012. The sammelan was conducted by Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri,
Secretary of the Pratishthan. Dr. Smt. Sarojini Mahishi (Ex-Cabinet Minister,
Government of India), Special Guest and Dr. Kalyan Kumar Chakravarti,
Chancellor & Chairman, National Academic Scheme and Administration
University were present. The inaugural session was started with
Mangalacharan of all Vedas. Later on Vedic scholars were welcomed.
During the period from 5th to 10th January, 2012 at Vishwa Ved
Sammelan, the Vedic scholars participated from different regions of the
world, presented their research papers on vedas which were read.

organized between January 14 – 16, 2012
A three day Regional Vedic Sammelan was organized in joint
collaboration with Shri Parshuram Mandir Sansthan, Trayambakeshwar,
Nasik (M.S.) between January 14 – 16, 2012.
The Sammelan was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Dy. Chief
Minister, Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Govt. of Maharashtra and Special Guest,
Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary of the Pratishthan by lighting the lamp.
On the occasion, Shri Bhujbal highlighted the importance of Vedas and its
utility in public life.
Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri, Special Guest highlighted the details of all
schemes being run by the Pratishthan and appealed to all learned scholars
participated from different states that they will have to put concerted efforts
continuously for conservation and promoting activities of Vedas. In this huge
Sammelan, many students and learned scholars from veda vidyalaya,
pathashalas from different states participated. Veda Murti Ghaisas Guruji was
a chief organizer of the Sammelan, who put extraordinary efforts and it was
conducted by Ved Vidushi, Dr. Bhagyalata Pataskar.
9.6.7 A three day Regional Vedic Sammelan organized in joint collaboration
with Shri Madhusudan Vedic Sanskriti Evam Paryavaran Sansthan,
Alwar (Rajasthan) between February 3 - 5, 2012
A three day Regional Vedic Sammelan was organized in joint
collaboration with Shri Madhusudan Vedic Sanskriti Evam Paryavaran
Sansthan, Alwar (Rajasthan) between February 3 - 5, 2012 The Sammelan
was inaugurated by Chief of the Sansthan, Swami Falahari Shri
Prapannacharyaji at historical town of Rajasthan.
At the inaugural session, Chief Guest, Kunwar Jitendra Singh, Cabinet
State Minister insisted the audience that there is a great need for wide
publicity of vedas from door to door. At the same time, Special Guest, Prof.
Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary of the Pratishthan welcomed all vedic
scholars participated from different states and presented the relevant details
of programmes and schemes being run by the Pratishthan effectively. All
participants present there enjoyed by hearing Mantrocharans of four
branches. Swami Falahari ji blessed all with his key words and insisted to
follow life style as per vedas education. The entire programme was conducted
by Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Udaipur Vishwavidyalaya.

Narsingh Area, Purnigudam, Nagaon, Assam between February 7 - 9, 2012.
The Sammelan was inaugurated on 7-2-2012 by Shri Kanak Chand
Sharma, Chairman, Acharya Bhrigugiri Purvottariya Vedvidya Pratishthan, in
presence of Acharya Bhrigugiri Maharaj, representatives of Vedvidya
Pratishthan and a number of vedpathis participated from different states with
flag hoisting. The inaugural session of Sammelan started which was presided
over by Hon’ble Dr. Mukund Kam Sharma, ex-Judge of the Supreme Court
of India. In the inaugural session, Shri Rakibul Hussain, Hon’ble Forest & P.
& R.D. Minister, Assam, Dr. Devanand Shukl, Programme Officer of the
Pratishthan were present. In the session, also four books were released .
During the second session, on relevancy of vedas discussion was held by
Hon’ble Dr. Mukund Kam Sharma, ex-Judge of the Supreme Court of India
and papers were read by the learned scholars. Dr. Sukhmay Bhattacharya, ex-
Principal, Kachar College, Assam, Dr. Tarun Chand Sharma, ex-Professor,
Majuli College, Assam, Dr. Rabindranath Dev Sharma, Prof. D.K.D. College,
Dergaon, Assam, Dr. Sunil Goswami, ex-Teacher, Barpujiya, Higher
Secondary School, Nagaon, Pt. Rohini Ballav Goswami, Dergaon, Assam
read the papers and participated in the discussion.
On second day of Sammelan i.e. 8th February, 2012, the first session was
started with Mantrochchar performed by four vedas’ vedapathis. The first
session was presided over by Dr. Swapna Devi, Professor and Head - Sanskrit
Department, Assam Vishwavidyala, Silchar, under which discussion on
Vedas and Science was held and papers were read. During the discussion,
Prof. Laxmikant Bhattacharya, ex-Principal, Assam Science College, Jorhat,
Dr. Shanti Pokharel, Reader, Sanskrit Department, Assam Vishwavidyalaya
silchar participated. In the second session, a discussion was held on Vedic
Yug Shiksha and Samaj, which was presided over by Shri Kanak Chand
Sharma, ex-Administrator and ex-Vice Chairman, Assam Sahitya Sabha.
Also, in the night a cultural programme was held in which renowned Bhajan
Singer, Shri Amrit Pawek by his sweet voice presented a number of bhajans.
Third day of Sammelan on 9th February, 2012 started with vedic
recitation by vedapathis. During the first session, a discussion was held on
Role of Vedangs and its Importance, which was presided over by Shri Bhav
Krishna Mishra, ex-Principal, J.B. College, Jorhat, Assam. Dr. Nrapendra
Nath Sharma, Dr. Kameshwar Shukla, Dr. Gautam Bhai Patel, Gujarat State
Sanskrit Academy, Ahmedabad mainly were present in the discussion.
On 9th February, 2012, the valedictory function was held in the second
session, which was presided over by Shri Satish Chandra Sharma. Dr.
Gautam Bhai Patel, Gujarat Rajya Sanskrit Academy, Ahmedabad, Dr. P.
Ashok Babu, Dy. Commissioner, Nagaon were present. Dr. Narendra Nath
Sharma, ex-Professor, Guwahati Vishwavidyalaya was Chief Guest.

(Assam) organized between March 25 - 27, 2012
A three day Regional Vedic Sammelan in joint collaboration with
Dayanand Sevashram Sangh, Bokajan, Karbiyanglang (Assam) was
organized between March 25 - 27, 2012. In the tribal area of North-Eastern
state, with the assistance of Dayanand Sevashram Sangh, the sammelan was
inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri J.B. Patnayak, Chancellor, Assam State.
On the occasion, Mahamahim Chancellor Sir appreciated greatly for the
activities being carried out by Dayanand Sevashram Sangh and active
contribution of Vedvidya Pratishan in North-Eastern state and propounded
importance of Vedas. As a special guest, Prof. Roop Kishor Shastri, Secretary
of the Pratishthan by expressing his hearty gratefulness and greetings to
volunteers of Sevashram stressed the necessity of wide publicity for Veda
education. It was also resolved by the Pratishthan expressing that in
implementation of the schemes of Vedas formulated by the Government of
India, sufficient assistance would be provided for wide publicity of vedas and
assured that there shall be no any slackness on this part.
On the occasion, learned Vedic scholars expressed their gratefulness and
satisfaction for the good work done on vedas in North-Eastern states. In the
Sammelan, Shri Vinay Arya, Prof. Subhash Vedalankar, Acharya Ved
Prakash Kshotriya, Dr. Devanand Shukl, Programme Officer of the
Pratishthan also expressed their views. The programme was conducted by
Shri Yogendra Khattar and Acharya Dayasagar successfully.
9.6.10 A three day Regional Vedic Sammelan in joint collaboration
with Sanskrit Prasarani Sabha Gameri, Sonitpur, Assam
organized between March 28 - 30, 2012
In joint collaboration with the Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya
Pratishthan, Ujjain and Sanskrit Prasarani Sabha Gameri, Sonitpur, a three
day Regional Vedic Sammelan was organized between March 28 - 30, 2012.
The inaugural session was started with Mangalacharan by vedics
participated from different places. In this Sammelan Prof. Gautam Bhai
Patel, Ahmedabad, Dr. Gokulendra Goswami, Guwahati, Vedmurti Shri
Krishna Pauranik, Dr. Devanand Shukl, Programme Officer of the
Pratishthan and Dr. Shiva Acharya addressed the audience by putting their
views on vedas. On the occasion four books from Sanskrit Prasarini Sabha
were dedicated to public.
9.7 Fellowships
9.7.1 There is a provision of Fellowship for promoting Vedic research. The
Pratishsthan offers Fellowship Scheme for this purpose. The main objective

of this scheme is to provide an opportunity to scholars, particularly young
research scholars for promoting the growth of Vedas and different aspects of
vedic literature, so as to enable them to choose research topics on research
projects to undertake research work for full time basis. Under this scheme,
following Fellowships have been provided :
1. National Fellowship
2. Senior Fellowship
3. General Fellowship
4. Junior Research Fellowship
9.7.2 Under the scheme, terms and conditions of fellowships,
eligibility/qualification, and availability of fellowships in different categories
at particular period have been prescribed. Keeping in view, workability of
project and availability of budget during the particular financial year,
fellowships have been provided.
9.8 Publication
9.8.1 Publication is an important programme of the Pratishthan to fulfil its
objectives. The out-of-print and rare texts relating to Vedic literature are
reprinted and published under this programme. Printing of critical editions
and translation into various languages of certain texts, monographs on
important topics and report of research work done by Fellows of the
Pratishthan are also undertaken. In addition, the research papers presented at
the seminars, workshops and proceedings thereof are also taken up for
publication.
9.9 Publication of Research Journal
9.9.1 In order to promote new research activities, Pratishthan publishes an
International Research Journal “Ved Vidya” in which good essays related
with Veda published in Hindi, English and Sanskrit languages so that its
advantage may be availed by the Vedic scholars as well as general public.
This research journal contained ISSN No. 2230-8962 is Referred Research
Journal.
9.9.2 The details of Books published / financially assisted so far by the Pratishthan
have been furnished at Annexure VI.
9.10 Library
9.10.1 The Pratishthan has its own well maintained Library at Ujjain, and at present
it has got about 3500 books on its shelves on Vedic literature and allied
subjects. The expected growth of the Library could not be done, due to
limited space available in the Pratishthan Office located at Pradhikaran
Bhawan and qualified staff is yet to be recruited. However, the number of

books in library have been increased during the year. The Library system is
being computerized fully which is expected to be completed soon. As a part
of the overall construction programme of the Pratishthan on the land allotted
to it by the State Government and as a long term measures, a growth plan for
development of library with necessary building plan has been proposed.
9.11 Vedic Mathematics
9.11.1 The Pratishthan has been following research in Vedic Mathematics since
inception. An Expert Committee constituted in 1992-93 has been functioning
continuously. As an interim action and result of various recommendations,
National Academy Research Training Council included some formulae and
its applications as ready well adorned material in teachers guide and lectures
on Vedic mathematics in Teachers Training Programme. In order to impart
training to school teachers in Vedic Mathematics, workshops have been
organized from time to time. During the year under review, no workshop was
organized
9.12 Preparation of Vedic Directory
9.12.1 The work for ambitious scheme to maintain Vedic Directory has also been
initiated. In order to preserve and conserve the oral tradition intact, use of
different digital or C.D. Rom techniques for video recording of various Veda
codes and Brahmins oral pronunciation have been adopted.
9.12.2 Preservation of rarely available Vedic manuscripts by digital or C.D. Roam
techniques. At present, a Vedic Manuscripts Guide is being prepared for the
manuscripts available with different Institutions.
9.13 Financial Assistance to Aged Vedapathis
9.13.1 During the year 2011-12, a grant of Rs. 5,50,000/- to the Vedapath Nidhi
Trust, Chennai as Pratishthan’s contribution under the scheme of assisting
aged Vedic Pandits has been provided. The Veda Paths Nidhi Trust provides
grant to the aged Veda Pathis as per following criteria and rates :
1. Each Veda Pathis aged beyond 65 years, having proficiency in
Sanskrit and Shastra are paid Rs. 600/- per month.
2. Each Vedapathis aged below 80 years and beyond 65 years, having
proficiency in Sanskrit and Shastra are paid Rs. 500/- per month.
9.13.2 The Handicapped Veda Pathis aged beyond 65 years are paid grant by the
Pratishthan. During the year under review, a grant of Rs. 2,34,000/- was paid
directly by the Pratishthan to 39 Aged Veda Pathis @ Rs. 500/- per month
each. Out of this due to death of one Veda Pathi, grant for 8 months was
released.
9.14 Financial Assistance to Nityagnihotris
9.14.1 The Pratishthan has formulated a scheme to provide financial assistance of
Rs. 1000/- per month each for those Nityagnihotris, who along with their
Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan

wives perform and follow traditional Vedic recitations with Agnyadhan as
per procedure and cow worship at their homes Agnihotra Anushthan
regularly. The objective of providing financial assistance is to reimburse
partially the expenses being incurred on performing Agnihotra Anushthan by
the Agnihotris regularly. Preference has been given to those pandits/
vedapathis, who are aged and perform/follow Agnihotra regularly.
9.14.2 During the year 2011-12, a grant of Rs. 4,32,000/- was paid to 36
Nityagnihotris @ Rs. 1000/- per month each by the Pratishthan.
9.15 Honours paid to Veda Pathis
9.15.1 On the occasion of a number of Vedic Sammelans organized at Varanasi
(U.P.), Junagarh (Gujarat), Ayodhya (U.P.), Trayambakeshwar
(Maharashtra), Alwar (Rajasthan), Guwahati, Bokajan, Sonitpur (Assam),
each Veda Pathi was honoured and paid Rs. 2,500/- as Sambhavana Rashi by
the Pratishthan during the year 2011-12.
9.16 Celebration of Vedic Knowledge Week
9.16.1 In order to create Vedic knowledge and consciousness of its implied human
value, to organize a Vedic Knowledge Week in various places of the country
was started by the Pratishthan. The objective of this programme is to create
awakening on Veda, Vedic Knowledge and Indian Culture amongst people in
the country.
9.16.2 Under this scheme, in accordance with accepted rules of renowned Vedic
institutions or learned scholars to conduct the various activities during the
week e.g. deliver lectures on selected topics on common public interest by
learned scholars, to organize exhibitions by photos, charts and models,
broadcast Vedic literature messages through All India Radio and Television
network, hold competition of Mantrochharan on Vedic suktas/ mantras and
distribution of awards and to pay honours to learned scholars grant has been
paid.
9.16.3 During the year under report, the Vedic Knowledge Weeks were organized at
the following places :
1. From 18-5-2011 to 23-5-2011 at M.P. Batalian N.C.C., Jawahar
Chhatravas, Kothi Road, Ujjain (M.P.).
2. From 15-8-2011 to 21-8-2011 at Maharishi Dayanand Marg, Raipur

9.17 Tape Recording of Vedic Recitations

9.17.1 One of the essential activity of the Pratishthan is to maintain the record for
preservation oral tradition of various branches of vedas’s recitation through
Tape Recording C.D./D.V.D. There is a centre of tape recording of some
Vedas branches at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati. During the years
1992-93 and 1993-94, an arrangement was made by the Pratishthan with
assistance of Vidyapeeth, so that a complete duplicate set of Vedas recitation
could be made available. Out of the tapes available at Tirupati Vidyapeeth,
its duplicate tapes have been made. The Pratishthan has collected
Mantrochharan related audio-video tapes in different branches and styles
from various sources. In this respect, an audio C.D. of 70 hours in M.P.-3
form collected, which are available at the Pratishthan for learned scholars.

9.18 Preparation of Audio Cassettes Package
9.18.0 In the year 1994-95, with a view to popularize Veda Vidya, a programme has
been introduced for preparation of a Package Audio Cassette of duration 20

preliminary knowledge on Vedic Tradition and information on its implied
moral and human values.
9.19 Vedas Education at Home
9.19.1 The Pratishthan has introduced a correspondence course on “Ghar Baithe
Vedon Ki Shiksha”. The pass Vedanuragis awarded “Ved Nipun”
certificate. Under this scheme, syllabus has been formulated so as to reach by
general public a germane information on four Vedas, Vedang, Brahmin
Granth, Aranyak, Upanishad, Importance and form of Indian Culture, Indian
Philosophy. Besides, to make the syllabus interesting, vedic stories have been
given at appropriate places. During the session, syllabus was carried out in
order. The above course may be opted in Hindi or English medium.
9.20 Silver Jubilee Year
The Silver Jubilee Year of the Pratishthan was celebrated. In the first phase
on 20th January, 2012, a brief Yagnya etc. was performed by the Pratishan at
its office premises.

Annexure 1
OBJECTIVES
In order to fulfill the following objectives, the Pratishthan has been established :-
1. To preserve, conserve and develop the oral tradition of Vedic studies, for
which the Pratishthan will undertake various activities such as, to provide
assistance to traditional Vedic institutions and scholars, provide
fellowships/scholarship, undertake preparation of audio/video tapes, etc.
2. To foster the tradition of intonation and recitation through learned scholars
and pandits.
3. To encourage and ensure involvement of dedicated students in higher
research in the field.
4. To provide research facilities to those students having background of Vedic
knowledge and to equip them with sufficient scientific and analytical outlook,
so that modern scientific thoughts contained in the Vedas, particularly
disciplines of mathematics, astronomy, meteorology, chemistry, hydraulics,
etc. should be linked with modern science and technology so that a rapport
between them and modern scholars could be established.
5. To establish Vedic pathashalas and research centres its takeover, manage or
supervise throughout the country to fulfil and maintain any objectives of the
Pratishthan.
6. To revive and administer such of the endowments and trusts as are de-
functional, or don’t run properly.
7. To pay special attention to those Shakhas which are extinct and for which
human repositories can be identified, and to prepare a detailed list of Pandits
related to these Shakhas.
8. To ascertain the present status of affairs of oral traditions in respect of Vedas,
particularly intonation and recitation peculiar to various regions, institutions
and maths in the country.
9. To collect information that whether original state of textual material, printed
manuscripts, texts, commentaries and interpretations, etc. of the various oral
traditions of Vedic Shakhas are available or unavailable.
10. To collect information about the present state of recordings, both audio and
visual, available in the country.
11. To undertake research, in the interest of advancement of scientific
knowledge, in Vedic texts and Vedic Literature from the earliest time of
Vedic period up to the present day including areas of science, agriculture,
technology, philosophy, yoga, education, poetics, grammar, linguistics and
Vedic tradition and to provide for library, research equipment, research
facilities, supporting staff and other technical man power; and To undertake
