Magnificat primi toni (ii)

JEAN MOUTON

Source: Universitätsbibliothek, Jena, MS 20 (Petrus Alamire, Brussels, c. 1515). The manuscript contains 19 settings of the Magnificat. This is the

second of two settings by Mouton, both on the first tone, in this manuscript.

Note values halved. Text underlay, which is not always clear in the source, is editorial.

In common with many manuscripts from the Alamire workshop, the source contains a number of annotations to indicate tacet voices.
