EOPS is a state-funded student service program

that promotes academic excellence among

students from low-income, underrepresented

backgrounds in higher education. EOPS promotes excellence by offering

services that are above, beyond, and in addition to

services available to all LMC students.

A student support program offering additional student support services to eligible EOPS

students. Who’s Eligible?

A current EOPS student who is: a) single-head of household, b) parent/guardian of child 14 or

younger in home, c) whose child or is personally receiving TANF/ CalWORKs (cash-aid)What Services Are Offered?

Policies & Procedures

The following policies govern the processes by which EOPS will deliver particular services and

requirements that students are to meet in order to receive them.

Appealing for readmissionPolicy

Students dismissed from EOPS due to back-to-back

semesters of non-compliance may submit a written

request for readmission. (No second appeals accepted. No

appeals for status downgrades permitted.)

Procedure Meet EOPS staff to review appeals process Complete 6 units with term GPA of 2.0 or

better semester before appealing Submit written appeal with supporting

documents Submit EOPS application

Book vouchers Policy1. For use at LMC Bookstore 2. For one-time use only3. Expires 14 days after disbursed4. Good only for textbook purchases or

loans5. Lost vouchers only replaced with police

report

Procedure• Present ID and schedule at LMC Bookstore

• Return to bookstore for books out of stock when purchasing– bookstore re-opens voucher

Book purchased are student’s property

CalWORKsPolicy

1. County supplies book vouchers2. County supplies parking permits3. County provides course supplies

Procedure• Students who experience complications

securing services from Contra Costa County must document attempts to secure services.

Counseling expectationsPolicy

1. No children allowed2. Students that no-show, cancel, and/or

reschedule appointments will not be guaranteed make-up appointment

3. No drop-ins4. After 10 minutes, no admittance

Procedure• Schedule all appointments in the EOPS

office by phone or in person• Retain record of appointments– no

reminder calls

Counseling expectations, cont’d

1. All three (3) required counseling contacts to be completed with an EOPS counselor or EOPS designated staff

• Exception: Students permitted to meet with non-EOPS counselor to complete 2 of the 3 meetings as specified in the Program Timeline (i.e., cover topics by required dates) Procedure

• Meet during the dates and cover the topics stated on the Program Timeline

• Provide EOPS Office proof of each meeting by EOPS Counseling Timeline meeting deadline

Policy• Students are to establish, maintain, consult

Enrolling at multiple campuses

Policy1. Majority of units must be taken at LMC2. If enrolled in an even number of courses,

LMC must be designated as financial “home”

Procedure• Designate LMC as financial “home”• Receive services at LMC EOPS

Full-time waiver request Policy

At sole discretion of the EOPS director, a limited

number of students may be approved to enroll and

complete less than a full-time course load.

Procedure Submit waiver request to director with supporting documents by required deadline

Academic Progress Report (APR)Policy

1. Student must meet with instructors during office hours to obtain instructor feedback for, at least, fifty (50%) of enrolled classes. Must obtain feedback from ALL instructors.

2. Must show comments– letter/% grade optional.

tab)• Make appointment with instructor• Submit to EOPS Office by February 28,

PolicyStudents earning Ds or Fs at APR deadline must meet with EOPS counselor or staff no later than two weeks after the APR deadline to devise a strategic plan

Time/Unit limit waiverPolicy

Full-service students with high unit CCCCO approved “high unit majors” may petition to extend eligibility for EOPS services up to 2 semesters beyond 70 degree-applicable unit/6 semester limit.

Transferring to another EOPS

PolicyEOPS supports student transfers to another

EOPS program but cannot guarantee admission.

Parking Permits

Policy• Limited-service and appeal students are

ineligible for this service.

• Issued only one (1) permit per EOPS student

• Must request permit during today’s Informational Session

Mutual Responsibility Contract

1. Enroll 12 units every semester, i.e., fall/spring 12 units, summer 6 units

Multiple campus enrollment must have majority units at LMC

DSPS students with less than 12 units must submit DSPS waiver to eligible for services before signing contract

EOPS students with less than 12 units must submit EOPS waiver to eligible for services before signing contract

2. Complete 12 units each semester earning a term Grade Point Average (GPA) of, at least, 2.0 EOPS or DSPS waiver required for less
