The Globe

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company ‘’The Lord Chamberlain's Men’’ and was destroyed by fire in 1613. A second Globe Theatre was built on the same site in 1614 and closed in 1642.

A modern reconstruction of the Globe was built by Sam Wanamaker, an American actor and director. It was named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997. The theatre was opened to the public in 1999 . The new theatre is approximately 230 m from the site of the original theatre. It has space for 1.500 people who wanst to see the Shakespeare’s plays.
