The building of the ”I. L.. CARAGIALE” National College is situated in a densely populated area of Ploiesti, a city in the south-center of Romania. It was established in 1864 under the name of The ‘Saint Peter and Saint Paul’ Secondary School for Boys. In January 1952, on the occasion

of the 100th anniversary of Ion Luca Caragiale, a famous Romanian playwright, the school was named after him.

In 1867, the first generation of students graduated and together with them, the playwright himself.

On 27 November 1997, the school was attributed the title

of ‘national college’.

On 15 September 1999 were inaugurated the courses of the Cisco Local Academy, the first

academy of the kind in the country.

And in 2002, owing to its exceptional results, it became

a Cisco Regional Academy, coordinating 10 high-schools and colleges in the region.
