The Front Office All the heavy lifting gets handled at this desk. :)

The Commons This area is the main lobby of the old L&N Train Depot. It currently serves as a space for lunch and other activities.

Original Doors and Windows

As a registered historic building, the beauty of the original floors, paneling, stained glass, leaded glass, and ornate doors and other fixtures are everywhere.

The Media Center The library is being built as the school grows. Historically, this room was where unattended women would wait for the trains.

The Guidance Office We have one guidance counselor. Historically, this was the area where African-American travelers would purchase tickets and wait for trains.

The Missing Walls These spaces were left on purpose. They are where the old walls were for the African-American bathrooms. Now they are teaching moments for students.

Still the Guidance Office

Looking out through the door on the left is the Commons. It served as the ticket counter for African Americans who were not allowed into the main lobby.

QR Codes QR Codes are prevalent across campus for students to research with their iPads.

The Back of the School

The school has 4 floors. The glassed-in porch seen here is the main floor from the front and leads into the Commons.

The View from the Back

Looking out from the back of the school students can see the War Memorial, Sun Sphere, fountains, and the Knoxville Museum of Art off to the right.

Stairs in the Back These stairs lead from the ground floor up to the Mezzanine and on up to the main floor. They are absolutely gorgeous!

A Typical Classroom Every classroom has white boards, 2nd generation SMART Boards, ultra-short throw projectors, and tables and chairs (no desks!)
