endings, 2011copper pipe, monofilament line24” x 24” x 20’ long
endings is a sculptural installation which consists of 76 elements of 1/2” diameter copper tubing. Each piece is an abstraction of a graph representing a generally desirable 'ending:' smallpox has been eliminated, polio nearly so; lead in the air is virtually gone in the US; wars are less frequent, less deadly and far less expensive since the end of the cold war. The sculpture is, in short, a random catalog of good news should a viewer be interested.
