Master of the Ocean this February

Master of the Ocean: a sporting event like no other!

This event is said to be the only one of its kind in the world where entrants compete in four different watersports.

Since 2003, this competition has grown and is now more popular than ever.

Starting February 23, Master of the Ocean 2016 will hold events in and around Cabarete until February 28.

Kitesurfing

One of the events athletes compete in during Master

of the Ocean. This extreme sport combines aspects of windsurfing, gymnastics,

surfing, and wakeboarding. Practicing kitesurfing

involves riding waves with specific types of boards. 

Windsurfing 

Another one of the four events in Master of the Ocean. Elements of both surfing and sailing go together to create this exhilarating watersport. Windsurfers generally use a board that is fitted with a rig specifically geared for this type of sport.

Surfing

Is also an event that athletes compete in during Master of the Ocean. Surfers will be judged on their ability to choose and ride waves on surfboards. Playa Encuentro is the location in the Dominican Republic where this part of the competition is to be held.

Standup Paddleboarding

SUP concludes the competitive events for Master of the Ocean. Here, entrants stand atop a long board and paddle to gain momentum across the water. Mastering this sport will take both dedication and stamina.
