was held at Ebbets Field.–The only World Series that the Dodgers

won while at Ebbets Field was in 1955.

HISTORY OF EBBETS FIELD

• Charlie Ebbets, the dodgers owner was growing dissatisfied with Washington Park, the ball club’s home since 1898.

• Before Washington Park the Dodgers played at Eastern Park around 1890. This is when the dodgers jumped from the

American Association to the National League

Little More History

• Neither park satisfied Charlie Ebbet because he wanted a larger more modern ballpark.

• He decided on a 4.5 acre plot bordering Bedford Avenue, Sullivan Street, Franklin Avenue and Montgomery Street.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS IN HISTORY

• Abe Stark a local Brooklyn Clothier placed a sign under the RF scoreboard exclaiming "Hit this sign win a suit." There was one catch though Stark did not want anyone to hit the sign, let alone a player from an opposing team. So Stark made a deal with Dodger RF Carl Furillo giving him a suit if he made sure no opposing players ever touched the sign.
