Pollution and Engine Performance

Independent tests show for every 400 litres of diesel and petrol burned in a combustion engine produces an incredible:

• 3.2 kilos of sulphur

• 1 kilo of soot

• 1 kilo of resins and varnishes

Engine manufacturer Caterpillar say 90% of engine wear is caused by acid action, not friction. For every 10,000 miles of usage, engine performance is reduced by 1%. Recent data from the USA Road Transport Authority confirms for best results you need to treat the fuel

and oil system in an engine.

This is a simplified diagram of a fuel injection system. All fuel contains hydrocarbons, sulphur and water. When these elements are mixed together in the fuel tank and you add heat, they form H2SO4 which is sulphuric acid. As mentioned on our previous slide, 90% of engine wear is caused by acid build-up. As a bi-product of H2SO4, gum, lacquer and varnishes accumulate in the fuel system. We would liken that, in our body, to cholesterol in the arteries.

During the combustion process, these elements are burnt and form carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. This carbon also blocks fuel injectors, resulting in a loss of engine power and fuel efficiency. Our fuel conditioning products work by surrounding the sulphur molecule and emulsifying the water to prevent them mixing together. This way we prevent the formation of sulphuric acid. We will simulate this in a demonstration shortly.

All of our fuel conditioning products contain an effective combustion catalyst. Scientific tests have proven that our products speed up the fuel burn by 25-30%, and can provide combustion efficiency of up to 90%. This can be proven scientifically with emissions tests. Hydrocarbon emissions come about by unburned fuel. After an engine is treated of our products, the hydrocarbon emissions are substantially reduced. Carbon monoxide emissions are brought about by incomplete combustion. Once again, these are reduced after usage of our products.

We now invite you to look at our test tube demonstration that shows how contaminants form in the fuel system, and how our products provide a solution to this problem.

Here we have 2 clean test tubes, into these test tubes we will now add equal amounts of diesel fuel.

Now we will add concentrated sulphur acid to the test tube on the left, this ages the fuel and simulates conditions in the fuel system

We will now place stoppers into the end of each of the test tubes and shake them to simulate the contamination of a fuel system.

 We will know place stoppers into the end of each of the test tube and shake it and roll it.

 Within a few seconds you will notice the formation of Gum, lacquer and varnish forming on the side of the test tubes. This is how you system becomes blocked and your vehicle loses power. Just like cholesterol in your body. This is also unburned fuel, fuel that you have paid for and not used.

Now we will introduce Firepower to the test tube on the right and shake.

Acid is now added in the same treat rate as the test tube on the left.

As you can now see, the test tube on the right is clear of the build up and has neutralised the acid.

The following slides are an overview of some of our products and the solutions and benefits that they offer.

Firepower FP 4000

Firepower FP 4000 is designed specifically to treat problems that are inherent in diesel fuel and fuel storage. These problems include water contamination in fuel tanks and the formation of deposits in the fuel system of an engine.

Diesel fuel is unique in that it is hydroscopic, meaning it forms water through condensation in storage. This combination of water and diesel provides an ideal environment for bacteria to form. This bacterial algae contaminates the fuel and clogs filters, injectors and causes poor performance and black smoke during combustion.

Water Contamination in Diesel Fuel

An engine running on diesel contaminated with water and bacteria will experience the following:

Firepower FP 4000 works by emulsifying the water, starving the bacteria of its environment in which it grows. This water is passed harmlessly through to the combustion chamber. Firepower FP 4000 also stops bacteria from reforming, and increases fuel storage life.

Firepower FP 4000 contains active ingredients that remove harmful deposits from the fuel delivery system. FP 4000 neutralizes acid, cleans varnish/sludge from fuel tanks and lines. Firepower FP 4000 will also extend fuel filter life as shown below

Firepower Bunker Fuel Conditioner

Firepower Bunker Fuel Conditioner is a blend of petroleum conditioners formulated to achieve the following:

Bunker fuel exhibits some very unique characteristics as it is a lesser refined product than petrol or diesel. Generally it is high in sulphur, contains paraffin, abrasive impurities such as corrosive ash and abrasive salts and other insoluble residues. A high percentage of water is present with the fuel in storage and thus acid formation occurs quite readily.

The Solution

Firepower Bunker Fuel Conditioner has been formulated for optimum water and bacteria control. Firepower Bunker Fuel Conditioner disperses this water into the fuel slowly, removing the environment for the bacteria to live in, and allows the water to be burned off.

The Flush Cycle

Diesel fuel contains paraffin wax, which is present as a result of the refining process. When the air temperature drops to approximately 3 degrees Celsius or less, the wax molecules bond together to restrict and in severe cases stop the fuel from flowing altogether. An engine with fuel in this condition will experience the following problems:

• Will experience Severe hesitation

• Rough engine idling

The Problem
