5. Area Educational Services
• They group/coordinate all the professionals who advise schools
• The area educational services were established by the Departament d’Ensenyament to help schools and teachers in their pedagogical and educational tasks
• They are responsible for managing the training in their areas
• There are 72 educational services.
6. Area-based training programmes (PFZ)
- The training activities offered give an answer to the needs stated by the schools and teachers of a specific area.

The aim is to address the in-service training programmes to schools with a project.
Priorities
Main Programmes:
Training / Enhancing for the schools with a Pla Experimental de Llengües Estrangeres (PELE) .1st year: compulsary 35 hours, 500 teachers.
Activities within the Plans de Formació de Zona. (PELE 2nd and 3rd year, and courses/seminars/workgroups/congresses /,…). 3.100 teachers
Specific programmes for infant and primary school teachers including methodological and linguistic contents. 410 teachers
Objective 1: Foreign language teachers
The only cost for the teachers is the expenses of the trip
Summer grants:
Methodology / Language / Culture
Courses in Catalonia and abroad: France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Italy
Courses mainly adressed to teachers in a PELE/PAC school.Total number of grants offered: 1.340 (Courses in Catalonia: 500; Abroad: 840)
Length of the courses abroad 2-4 weeks
Objective 1: Foreign language teachers
Activities organized by the ICE (Universities)
Activities organitzed by other institucions (Teachers’ associations, British / French / German Institutes,……) and approved as in-service training activities.
Objective 1: Foreign language teachers
The aim is to train teachers to achieve the B1 and B2 levels
English courses during the school year at the official schools of languages (EOI). (Length of these courses: 130 hours, number of courses: 126 and number of teachers: 2.884)
English and French courses during the summer at the EOI. (Length of these courses: 60 hours, number of courses: 113)
Grants offered in the regular EOI courses in different languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian and Russian (Length of these courses: 130 hours, number of teachers: 470)
Language courses abroad in the summer. (Length of these courses: 3 weeks, 60 hours. Great Britain: 380 grants, France: 10 grants)
Objective 2: Teachers of other subjects

Different gropus for primary and secondary teachers
- Write CLIL / EMILE materials
- Know more about the CLIL / EMILE methodology
- Linguistic improvement
Groups in the first term (oct / dec.) and the second term (jan / march)
Requirements: - Schools with a CLIL / EMILE project
