Una noche, a la luz de la luna llena, reposaba un huevecito sobre una hoja.
One night, in the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf.
Un domingo por la mañana, nada más salir el sol, del huevo salió una oruga diminuta, que tenía mucha hambre.
One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and out of the egg came a tiny and very
hungry caterpillar.
Enseguida comenzó a buscar algo de comer.
Immediately he started to look for some food.
El lunes atravesó masticando una manzana, pero aún tenía hambre.
On Monday he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry
El martes atravesó masticando dos peras, pero aun tenía hambre
On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.
El miércoles atravesó masticando tres ciruelas, pero aun tenía hambre
On Wednesday he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry.
El jueves atravesó comiendo cuatro fresa, pero aun tenía hambre
On Thursday he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry.
El viernes atravesó masticando cinco naranjas, pero aun tenía hambre
On Friday he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.
El sábado atravesó masticando un trozo de pastel de chocolate, un helado, un pepinillo, una loncha
de queso, una rodaja de salchichón,
On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice cream cone, one pickle,
one slice of cheese, one slice of salami,
Una piruleta, una porción de tarta de fruta, una salchicha, una magdalena y un trozo de sandía.
¡Aquella noche tuvo un tremendo dolor de barriga!
one lollipop, one piece of fruit pie, one sausage, one cup cake and one slice of watermelon.
That night he had a terrible stomach ache!
Al día siguiente ya era domingo otra vez. La oruga atravesó masticando una hoja verde. Y se
sintió mucho mejor.
The nex day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one green leaf and
after that he felt much better.
Ya no tenía más hambre. Ni era ya una oruga pequeñita. Ahora era una oruga
grande y gorda.
Now he wasn`t hungry any more and he wasn`t a little caterpillar any more.
He was a big, fat caterpillar.
Se construyó una casa a su alrededor, un capullo, y se quedó allí encerrada durante más de dos semanas. Un día hizo un agujerito en el capullo, luego empujó y empujó hacia fuera y…
He built a small house, colled a cocoon, around himself. He stayed inside for more than two weeks. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon
pushed his way out and…
¡Se había convertido en una hermosa mariposa!
He was a beautiful butterfly!
