Kupala An ancient Kupala belief proclaims that on the eve of Ivana Kupala

ferns bloom. Prosperity, luck, discernment and power would befall on whoever finds the fern flower.

Villagers would roam through the forests in search of magical herbs

and the elusive fern flower; celebrants would jump over the flames of

bonfires and swim naked.

Love and magic is in the air. Forest nymphs and other magical

creatures come out to play. Unmarried women, signified by garlands on their head will float them downstream seeking foresight

into their fortunes of love. Men hope to capture the flower wreaths in order

to find the one.
