Types of Slabs

Three types of slabs are used : a- Two way ribbed slab (Waffle ) b- One way ribbed slab c- solid slabs

a- Two Way Ribbed Slab (Waffle )

area center to center ribs ( 0.8*0.8m )

Weight of 10 cm RC slab =0.8*0.8*0.1*24 =1.54 KN

Weight of ribs in two directions = =0.2*0.4*2*0.8*24=3.07 KN

Weight of two way ribbed slab / m2 = =1.54+3.07 = 4.61 KN/m2

Equivalent Thickness of 2-joist = =4.61/(0.8*0.8*24)= 0.3m = 300mm
