Brick pavers for Jackson Plaza and lower station pathway

March 30, 2011

Reinforced architectural stamped curb casted to protect the red brick pavers next to the station from vehicles.

The stamped curb is separately casted in blocks and connected with an expansion joint. Groove details aid with traction.

Stamped curb shown above is partially casted. It follows the contour of the station southward.

Red pavers are individually hand set to the tightest fit. Sand sub base helps create a level surface for the pavers.

Most of the west walkway pavers are in place.

A large crane pumped gravel which will be use as sub base for the Jackson Plaza above.

The gravel was spread over the black drain mats.

An overview of Jackson Plaza with the gravel in place and insulation being installed.

Bedding sand between the crushed base help level the red brick pavers.

The new pedestrian pathway for the station entry is almost fully paved.

All planters were painted with black color sealer to help prevent dirt moisture from escaping and help reduce effervescence..

A northeast sidewalk section was leveled to match Jackson Plaza.

Planting dirt filled all of the planters.

Waterproof membrane shown helps prevent leaks in the 12th floor level.
